Is it just me, or do the lines going in to each of the stanchions on the Wotan look like they are just waiting to be torn out in the first crash? They look really sketchy. It would be sad to spend $1400 on a fork that runs into major problems right away.

After Santa Cruz acquired Outland's patent for the floating pivot point suspension design and rechristened it the Virtual Pivot Point (VPP).

Outland called it VPP as well. At least thats what they engraved onto the swingwarms of their bikes.

Hmmm - I have the new 1.5 HT Nomad and I got it in Feb. Manufacturing issues? Hope it's for production not product!

Definitely Production not Product related - they just couldnt keep up with the demand, though i do question the need for a 1.5 HT on a Nomad. But hey whatever floats your boat.

Yeah. I hear production issues. Apparently the VPFree may be discontinued too or at least production halted to make other frames.

Its pretty neat huh? Those guys were so far ahead, its not funny. Too bad everything they made broke in 6 places.

I remember seeing an Outland back in the mid-'90s. Was a pretty wild creation, especially back then...

Why not? 6.5" rear travel running a 6.5-7" fork. You can build it light or build it for the shore. A 1.5HT gives a stronger frame with no real weight gain and running a 1.5 steertube fork gives you a stiffer fork.

I'd say that bikes with 7.5+ rear travel with 1.5 is not as useful. Most will run an 8" fork and it will be a double crown.

The SX trail should be made with a 1.5HT as should any bike with 6-7" rear travel that is built to run up to a 7" fork.

Stuart what 2 forks are you going to be running on the Nomad?

The plan is to try the Totem and either a Lyrik or a Fox 36. Plan being the operative word... :)
