both bikes look great but i think the canfield wins.
i think if u look at the detail work of the Cove up close versus the Canfield the Cove is far superior..
i'd buy the Cove bike for sure.

canfield is nicer imo, i'm not sure if anyone has seen the pictures of the paint job, but it is amazing, there are parts that are not the rough anodized paint texture and they have the canfield symbol. hard to describe, see for yourself on sicklines.com

i'd have to disagree, the canfield has way more detail then the std but to each his own i guess. i do like the cove and i do like the way it rides and feels but something about this canfield does it for me....maybe because of the close attention to detail, anodized, the beefier rear end and linkage, adjustable travel?
i think i'm gonna buy one.

I'll be getting my Lucky in a couple of weeks. Can NOT wait. I know it's a similar bike to the Cove but the photo's of the anodising work is top quality. All the graphics are laser etched so no paint to scratch up.

Yea, that bike really does it for me.
Too bad I already have a 7" - 8" bike that works well. It's an 05 Shore.
I wonder if you can order any colour links that you want? It'd be sweet to get white ones to match a fork or rims. Or whatever colours.
Anyway, I'll file this one away as a potential future ride, pending a future cash windfall!

The links come in blue, light blue, red, white and sea foam green. You can get a custom color, links and /or frame, for a little more.

Hmm. The rear end is beefier, but the rest? Could you elaborate on that. Never took such a close look at both. Just at the general thing. Thanx.
When does the frame arrive?

I cant make up my mind!
Canfield bikes are awesome quality!, anyway I was wondering if there΄s sth. wrong in Canfield΄s webpage as in the pics of the Lucky frame there, the frame its totally different to the pics shown in this thread, and the pics of the Balance frame are those similar to the ones in this thread, could anyone clariry this, please!! :fu:

The Bro's haven't updated the site for a while, those pictures are of the prototype frames. Mtbr has a good thread with photo's in the Manufacturers forum. All details on the frame are there.

I cant make up my mind!
If you do make your mind up you'll be the 3rd person in this thread that has a Lucky on order.
BTW I've read that the axle path is similar to the M3/Socom with a similar amount of chain growth. The Lucky has a lower BB and a similarly slack HT angle.

Well i think i made my mind up, the Lucky, although very cool is 3 lbs heavier than the Socom.
On sicklines it states that the frame weighs 11.25lbs! Yikes I say.
Jon-boy
02-06-2007, 01:03 AM
When you weigh 210lbs, having a little more beef in the frame is reassuring. The frames are built for different purposes, the Socom is a sickenly nice looking frame. If I had more finesse I'd go for it. I've seen one on Mtbr with clamp on cable guides for the front mech.

We are building a new site and the one that's up is soooo old. Sorry! The Lucky V2 on our site is a protype. It has been re-designed and will be re-protyped for testing this season.
The Balance and the Lucky are close in look and function, differences being travel (5-6",7-8") and intended use (Lucky- DH, freeride, Balance - freeride, DJ).
Frames are in, we are doing our final inspection and will be ready to ship in a couple weeks. You can order direct or through one of our dealers. Just Call Chris at 801-548-2556 or e-mail to info@canfieldbrothers.com.

BTW, to route the rear brake you'll need to remove the line from the rear caliper, route the line and bleed. A bit of a pain, but it might be better than taking the links off. The cable routing is really tidy once it's together.
Oh and getting back from WA with it went without any questioning. :D

http://photos.nsmb.com/files/2/1/0/7/9/frameti.JPG
now i'm off to lordco to get some of that transparent 3m anti rockchip tape to toss on the frame's cable rub and chain slap areas.
i wont be able to build it completely today since i cant find my dot5.1 for my rear brake line and my crankset hasnt come in yet either.

That is a VERY nice lokoing bike, congratulations!!
I recomend getting that 3M film from a motorcycle shop. You want the "FX" brand stuff, its a 3M product, comes in abag with 3 large sheets for $20. Very thick and durable and doesn't turn yellow or peel after time on the bike. Most moto shops that carry dirt bike related products will stock this. I am pretty sure it is thicker than what you might find at Lordco.
Keep posting pics! I want to see that bike when its all done.

thanks for the tip! lordco was out of stock so i did the run around trying to find some 5.1 plus the film and i found neither. i did see some very expensive tape at crappy tire that made me laugh but nothing was found. i'll try again tomorrow when the moto shops are open......but then again most are closed on monday's to.

building it really slow..... no rush since the trail conditions and the weather are pretty bad and booting around on the heckler is just enough to satisfy that itch.
i might finish it this weekend but here's the latest results.

I'll drop my posts for the next pics, but I do have long legs. :)
I'd been riding both bikes on the singletrack near my house, it involves some pedaling...
I'd missed the fully built schoenrock photo's.... yes the bikes are pretty low and slack, but the rear end is quite short, 17" stays for a 8" bike is pretty decent.
