Whats the benefits on half link chains? Purely strength or are they smoother and easier to work on as well?

Half link chains give you a greater range of adjustment. Works well if you run singlespeed and want a specific wheelbase but can't get it due to the limitations of a standard chain.
Are they stronger? Probably not.

halflinks also prevent tight spots, like they dont tight spot i should say. Also way stronger, and they look better :P
How is a chain with twice as many links as a standard chain stronger?
I don't know about the half link.
But i own the KMC 420(the bottom picture)
And, i am a happy camper. It is absolutely solid, and i don't have any wheelbase/skipping prob with 9tooth on the rear. I sproket grind regulary on my BMX, and it has yet to break. Just keep it well lubed(It will rust if you don't ride for a while w/o lube DUH~).
PS- get a strong chaintool, I snapped two

trust me 420 is the 2nd biggest chain now, and it is stronger.

Half links adjust easier on single speed.
add like 4 pounds on your bike too.

Because the links are more stout. If they where the same strength as a regular chain, than they'd be more vulnerable to break, but there usually made of stronger materials. I never snapped the half link chain i had on my 1hun..
stout.
huh?
If they where the same strength as a regular chain, than they'd be more vulnerable to break,
We're not comparing it to a "regular chain" look above
they'd be more vulnerable to break, but there usually made of stronger materials.
Which they? clarify.

Do you grind in any ways?
if so, can you prove it?
----------------------------
Both chains are uber strong, It's the links that fail/ceize.

half link chain and regular chain about similar strength...but half link is noticeably heavier
you can also get hollow pin half link chain about same weight as regular chain but weaker, Shadow Conspiracy is selling those now...
i use 1 "half link" on my BMX with a regular KMC kool chain, to allow correct placement of rear wheel axle in the rear dropout, i like it slammed pretty far forward for better manuals and more twitchy handling
otherwise you can end up with wheel too far back for dialled handling

kmc and shadow chains are sometimes known for self destructing. i'd go with a normal chain if you can and just a single half link if you need it.

KMC manufacture most of the worlds chains, for other manufacturers as well as under their own name
KMC has been a "gold" standard in BMX chains for years...highly rated
