Hi
I've got saint wheelsets for both my bikes, but I don't run the saint derailleur on either of them.
One bike uses a 10mm QR solid axle that I bought from Bikeroom and it works great. Problem is, I can't get through to bikeroom and there is no brand noted on the axle so I have no idea who made it.
I've looked online and it seems that there aren't too many QR skewers that are 10mm... altnough I found one on bikeparts.com: http://www.bikeparts.com/search_results.asp?ID=BPC119622
But it's not in stock. Went to the DT Swiss site, it's not noted.
Is anyone else with a saint wheelset running a non-saint axle? What brand are you using, where did you buy it, and how much did you pay?

Kind of a side note, but I run the Saint axle, which is 10mm, and it fit into regular 9mm dropouts, weird.

10mm is just fancy speak for bigger than 9mm.

Ringle also makes hubs in that size.

Have you tried just going to a bike shop? I got one from overtime once.

9mm is standard axle for the front.
10mm is standard for the rear.
3/8" (about 9.5mm) is front/rear for standard size BMX.
Edit: Novatec makes a 10x135 QR skewer, not sure where to buy one though (I got mine with a Novatec hub).

All rear axles in Mtn bikes are 10mm. Any shop can get you 10mm solid axles in a variety of lengths. They usually range from $15-$25 dollars depending on length and quality.
Try Wheels MFG. they make a HUGE assortment of axles.

If you are looking specifically for a proper i.e. not threaded in the center with a nut on one end, thru-axle to use with a Saint hub your search will be slightly more difficult.
I had no problem getting one at Overtime in the past and I believe they actually sell most their Saint wheelsets (this at least used to be true) with non-Saint rear axles so you don't have to buy a derailleur as well.

Well that explains that.
Hooray for standards!

Okay here is a pic
On the top - Saint 10x135 thru axle. I don't want any more of these.
On the bottom - 10x135 QR thru axle. I do want one more of these.
Local shops seem to think they don't exist. The shops that do believe I am not crazy have called distributors who sell 10x135mm hubs, but they won't sell a shop the axle without the hub. I have enough hubs already.
I agree.. hooray for standards.
I have a 36H hub as well... it's a pain finding reasonably priced rims that are 36H

I ended up ordering the DT Swiss 10 x 135mm RWS from Universalcycles.com
http://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=16375&category=161
They have a handy feature where you give them your email and they'll let you know when it's in stock. Got the email, placed the order, shipping time from their desk to my desk, about 5 days and trackable on usps.com. Shipping wasn't cheap, but it was a hell of a lot more convenient than placing phonecalls to various LBSs and driving around.
The axle is much lighter than the Saint axle it replaces. At $51 USD I am hoping it is durable :P

Do what I did and butcher a saint derailleur with a hacksaw and a bench grinder. Perfect little custom nut on the end and an XO derailleur, which is 10x better than the saint was...

Solid axles with QR's kick ass. The stiffness of a through axle with the convenience of a QR. :)
