Hey guys i'm looking for a set of really light flat pedals...
to go on a cross country bike for someone who hates clip-ins.
i've had a look at the wellgo mg1's at 392g per pair (but they look meh) and the shimano dx at 492g per pair...
anyone have any more recommendations on some sweet pedals?
money is no object.

Wellgo MG1s - magnesium, light but soft pins. I like the Roadgaps. Semi-light but they grip and they last.

those wellgos are pretty light, Shimano's are sweet (you might be able to get a ti axle for them), People generally don't like the crank bros pedals, the pins aren't that great, but you can get hex pins for them too. Those straitline's are pretty sick looking, especially the ti axle ones in x-ray finish.

most flats are lighter than most clip-ins, so you are already ahead of the game...

check out their D-Lux pedals. 140 grams each, that's pretty tough to beat if you ask me. I'm not sure though whether Brave products are available in Canada or not and tbh I don't think they're all that great.

If you havent already gone out and bought a set of pedals, I'me gonna throw another + in for these.
I bought a set and absolutely love them. I've had alot of bikes and alot of pedals, these are my #1 choice.
Aside being light weight and looking rather cool they have a rather large profile which is great for people with bigger feet.
They're a solid spindle with no bearings, it works great.
They're not all that expensive either, I think I paid a hundred bucks for mine with 2 different sets of pins, the ones shown and the sharp little gutted out ones that make little circle cuts in the soles of your shoes....but damn do they ever keep your feet from slipping!

I am lliking the look of those, any ideo the MSRP in Canada on those.
I had some cheap dmr pedals which came stock on a bike, and they worked really well, these high end light ones would be pretty sweet. The straitlines are really nice but the platform is really wide and big. Sure good for grip and getting back on pedals, but I think they are a little too big, and those pins will shred lots of skin when not wearing shin pads.

well, when i was talking to greg from straitline yesterday regarding my sponsorship papers he was sending, he let me know that now they make the X-ray pedals with steel axles. no more paying a bajillion dollars for ti axles. they are also making bashguards soon and they will offer the X-ray anodized treatment on all of the products they make from what i saw on my order form. the X-ray won't be extra, but there is a chance it could be eventually because it is actually a somewhat complex treatment that tends to be more costly.

ummmmm, yes.
actually, i just took a look at shimano's website, looks like most of the their pedals are around 350 - 575grams, about the same as flats. you should negative rep me for my sweeping and incorrect generalization...

Good choice. I had a set of MG-1s for a while, light and feel great. Perfect pedals for a XC bike.
Just know that they aren't the most bash-worthy pedals going. You will lose pins if you smack them on rocks.
Ti being soo flexible, Wouldn't it bend after a big impact?

depends on the syncros pedal model... they have light ones and you take some pins out and its much lighter
Check out DIRT magazine for the optional 'pimp' kit. Basically a collection of assorted anodized pins and end caps. Around $15 or so. A drop in the bucket after spending to get the Ti spindle.

Personally I never liked the feel of the DMR pedals that much. Too thick and small.

I ran these all season, bought them on a whim cause they were about half the price of most ti/mag pedals, they are super light and really durable, and though the pin layout looks a little funky they have nice solid grip.
Before i got these i figured out i had been averaging 14 days of riding per set of pedals, atomlabs, eastons, truvatives all were destroyed. now i dont know now if i got that much more dialed this year or what, but i rode all year on those dks and they have only developed a very small amount of play and a very large amount of scratches and scrapes. That season includes over 250 whislter runs, one broken frame, and 2 toasted wheels, blown out 40 and dhx...all that and they weigh less than a pound for the set.
