I've seen pics of that trail before, and a few videos. Very cool story, suspenseful at the end, haha.

woah this is the kind of articles i enjoy, it is always the best feeling to be able to stand up after you crash... it leaves you with a sense of survival heh.

Great story, pretty hairy!
Anyone got a plane that I can crash and build a stunt like that?
Cheers!

Is that not the gap that Ryan Schnefp hits on Dropin season 3 in the wet?

Hey, not only is Jeff a very skilled rider, he is a man of honour and a good dude to boot. After crashing my bike there was no question about getting it fixed right away. As he said it was friday eve and my bike was up and fully functioning by my scheduled sunday ride. Lots more trails up here in Smithers and next year there are plans for another run down the same side of the mountain that Piper Down is on. For now though we must console ourselves with winter sports cause there's 3 feet of smow on the trail.Great story Jeff, lets get together for a ride again next year.Maybe you should bring your bike this next time though!! Cheers, George

Ah yes, the Jedi training worked well for you too eh!!
It is amazing what the body is able to do when it is faced with the possibility of complete and utter destruction.
Sounds like a wicked ride and a great place to go for a rip.

I wonder if George knows his bike is famous?
Met him at midsummers music festival, pretty mellow guy, great soundman ,good musician , but we never did get riding, theres 2 feet of snow outside ... next year

Great article. That trail looks killer. Glad the author walked away without injury, judging by how that wheel looked it was a really bad crash.
