Snowboard boots...

So I just bought a beginner board to start out on, and It looks to me you dont wanna cheap out on boots. There are a few places around Vernon/Kelowna that sell used stuff, what should I be looking for in terms of durability/quality/price?

A good pair of boots will definately make the biggest difference in a cheaper setup. Personally I'd avoid buying used boots (as opposed to used boards and bindings) because the liners pack out so much. It'll be much more difficult to find used boots which fit well.

You don't want to cheap out, but it doesn't mean you won't find the perfect fit in a cheaper lineup. You'll want to be able to do the laces up fairly tight without feeling any odd pressure points. Your heel should feel completely locked in.

Try on a bunch of different boots, that alone will give you a much better idea of what a good fit feels like.

Don't buy used boots.

If I were in your shoes, I would buy the 32 Exus (try to find last years model on clearance or something). Should be ~$180 or less. I spent a little less than that on my first pair of boots, and really regretted it. They were torn to hell in just a few rides, and it made it far harder to learn, far more tiring, and generally unpleseant.

32 has come to dominate the boot market for a reason. They're just a cut above everyone else.

The cheaper 32 boots are fucking AWESOME for the price.

If they fit you well, pick up a pair. but just keep trying boots till you find something comfy where your foot wont move inside the boot. High end boots are ussually just really stiff. with some extra support features...

Go to sportchek and ask if they have any boots from last season. I was able to pickup 500 dollar burton boots for around 100, and they are steezin comferatble.

32's are pretty roomy. Plus when you heat mold em, the liner will be bigger for your fat foot.

I wear 32s as well. As does everyone I ride with... but just because they fit lots of people doesn't mean they'll fit you. Try lots of different brands. Salomon, DC, Vans come to mind.

Oh, and Burton boots have a terrible rep these days. You can almost expect them to fall apart within a season or two.

stay the fuck away from 32 then, i have a ee too and i also have a brand new set of thirtytwo's sitting in the basement because my feet cramp up when i where them.
wide foot = burton. i picked up a pair of the burton freestyle and the fit is perfect, comfortable and light. cheap too, well cheaper....i think i paid $275????

btw, the 07's are suppost to have that "bad rep" corrected.

Ha ha...opposite of me.

After going through 2 pairs of "cheap" boots (not knowing anything 8yrs ago) i finally did the right thing. Got fitted. Tried on most boots and ended up with Solomon boots. Best fit for my "skinny" calf/foot.

So you'ld think it would be the same for ski boots. Not!
Tecnica boots fit the best. Go figure.

For boots, you can buy used . Thats what i did anyways. Thing is though, i f you try a good pair of new boots you'll never want to step into old ones. Boots help a lot on the hill, and sometimes can be the "lets go home " factor. Dont cheap out on the kicks jaysin

I'm just beginning season 3 of my pair of 32 boots. I have a size 13 foot that is wide and flat. My 32's sucked to break in but once I did they rocked. So light and although they are only the second brand that I have owned; they feel 10x better than my old set and they are already lasting longer and wearing better.

its not "ee" wide and flat since most of there models are rated "stiff" or "medium" for"side" sizing, they just don't make a wide footed model on any of there boots. if your foot is a ee(or wider) try burton's since there target market(d's and above) are flatfoot's.

I'd have to agree with this. I feel that the #1 bit of advice for buying boots is to try on plenty of different models from different companies in a few different stores. It is the only way to find out the best fitting boots for your feet.

That, and wear the same socks you would wear to go snowboarding. It does make a difference.
