This was a very long term test.

Here are the results. (http://www.nsmb.com/gear/juicycarbon_12_06.php)

Were you using the cleansweep or 2006 roundagon rotor on your Juicies?

Worth mentioning in any Juicy review is that they share the same pads as the affordable BB7 mechanical disc brakes... so if you have a FR bike and a XC hardtail it is possible to keep the same spare pads for both.

Another tip, after you have setup your pad pad contact adjustment, take them out and turn them upside down. They will still work but will be protected from crashing, etc

Good point Walrus.

I was using 203mm roundagon rotors. I haven't tried the sweepers.

I'd like to hear from Norco why the US MSRP and the NorcoSRP are so far apart. I mean, the dollar has been well above 80cents for as long as the Carbon's have been on the market.

Just cause we're Canadian doesn't mean we're saps.......

Here, here! A year or so ago everybody (not just Norco) would quote the party line that it was due to old inventory that was purchased when the Canajun dollar was on par with the Peso. That arguement doesn't fly anymore. Why are we getting gouged like we are?

Hey Cam...nice write up...but the first sentence is not that great...

"Every time I getting into a nasty spot and manage to reel it in with help from my disc brakes I marvel at how far we've come."

I knew I should have given it one more careful read. Bad place for a typo.

thanks MP!

I don't see any reviews of Hope brakes.

I'd be curious what you thought of them Cam. I've had them (specifically M4s) for 3-4 years and love em. Very pwerful and lots of modulation. The biggest downside is the squeal, but maybe the newer models have rectified that.

You could do worse than to do an extended test of Hopes for a season or two.

The analogies are funny and well thought out - "Dubya peace initiative" - well done.

I'd love to try some. We don't see Hopes much on the Shore but I have heard good things.

Good to see, I have tried the juicy line but wow they seem so on/off. I am thinking about juciys for the new ride but am worried about that lack of modulation....

How different is the stopping power for the carbons versus the new ultimates? i was planning on specing them for my new turner rfx for riding in St George Utah and such. I weigh 165lbs and do lots of downhill and a decent amount of drops. I was trying to save some weight.

I haven't tried the ultimates. Someone else will have to chime in.

ultimates feel kinda different to the other Juicy family brakes

Ultimate is way lighter than the Juicy Carbon - the Carbon is a poor value compared to Juicy 7

the weight saving is only 9gm per brake!!

difference in price here in UK is GBP £159.99 for Juicy Carbon with 160mm rotor and £119.99 for Juicy 7 with 160mm rotor

(I'd strongly advise Juicy 7 with a Straitline brake lever upgrade, feels way nicer than the Avid Carbon lever)
