I need to ride.

Anyone care to go for a night ride. Anywhere in the lower mainland. I have extra lights if you don't have any.

Say 6:30pm

Come on, anyone?

PM me or post in this thread.

Later,

Dean

Not sure about seymour or Cypress but Fromme still has a good amount of snow on all the trails. It is easier to walk than to ride at this point.

I'd love to ride because I can feel that I'm getting fat by the minute. However, is there anything that is worth riding (hiking through the snow is not considered riding)? The temp has been somewhat mild in the city but I'm quite sure it is still pretty cold in the mountain so there are still tons of snow up there.

I was thinking of the Woodlot. The North Shore likely has too much snow, but it has been melting at a reasonable rate in Maple Ridge.

There will still be snow on the hills where ever the trails are, BUT it will now be slushy and riding down will be fun. The hike up will likely be a bit of a drag but it keeps you in shape right.

So PoseNewbie.....you in? I'll let you chose the location.

Getting out to the woodlot during weekdays is out of the question for me since I work in DT van. So far, it does not sound like there is anything worth riding on the NS mountains.

Would SFU be worth it?

I'm in, wherever it may be.

I hiked up the lower trails of SFU last night clearing trees out wherever I could. There is a lot of stuff down, and the conditions were really, really slick.
I may be up for it, but if I go, I'm preparing myself for a frustrating ride.

So, should we give SFU a try? 630pm?

Sounds good to me.

How does 6:30pm at the curve on Gaglardi sound? Death march to the top or shuttles?

I will be on my hard tail so it should make for an even more interesting ride.

Death march is fine with me. I may be out of shape but I don't think I'll ever shuttle SFU.

post up how the trails are. I rode on Saturday and the snow was :thepimp: but thats cuz it was packed from hikers and not iced over yet. Surprisingly grippy and fast. But that was low elevation (LSCR) and on trails that had a fair amount of foot traffic.

Have fun and post conditions if you can!

Hey that's just a typical ride for me, come on out Steve!

I agree, no matter what conditions may be, I can't bring myself low enough to shuttle SFU.

YES, the plan is 6:30pm at the curve on Gaglardi, a Death march to the top.

The trails down?? I guess it will be a group decision.

I will pack my folding saw to do some cutting if needed.

See you guys tonight.

I second that motion. As well as "damn work" getting in the way right.

Have a good one guys. Upper Snake in the snow is always supersteep and sweet.!!!!!!

thanks for the ride tonight guys, fun little rip. great to finally meet thedude, biggles and pipegod

DaveM

Yup twas fun.

The trails are in pretty good shape. The climb up had a snow free track all the way to the last little steep section just before the road. A few trees down on Mels and Nicoles, but no snow on the trail. A bit muddy in spots though.

thedude and I went back up to hit Lower snake, it was okay until the end. The exit of the trail is pretty much gone and replaced by a pit made by the root ball of a rather large tree. A re-route is definitely going to be needed to fix that.

I agree, it was a very good ride. The conditions/lack of snow were much better than I expected. The trails flowed quite well.

It was nice meeting pipegod69, syncro and biggles604 for the first time (I had ridden with DaveM and PoserNewbie in the past). You could tell that we were all itching to get out and ride.

My rear wheel slide down Nicole's Pole was mighty sketchy.....I guess it is time for a new rear tire!!!

Good times.

Yeah, when I saw Steve go down with ZERO skidding I though sweet this should be no problem. Well did you see the 10% of remaining tread on my rear tire!!!! I am likely heading to the LBS to get a new tire TODAY.

When a comp 24 gets worn it's like having a slick on the rear.

I think I held it together alright though.

It was definitely a good ride and it was great to be out. I was expecting shitty/no flow riding but was pleasantly surprised.

no what made it even worse is i saw you were running dual michi's and had only noticed the front tire which looked new. you had been riding pretty good until then and it was like damn, that ain't no good!

I think you guys were alread at the road by the time I made it to the log. I rode it by the way, ya, that's it, nose wheelied the whole thing.

I threw a firetruck...or truckdriver...or buttwiper or something in there too. Just in case some gnarwhale guys were watching.

From where I was standing, it was definitely a butt-wiper.

Love the new avatar! I'd rep you on it, but I can't spread more lovin' to you apparently.
