I have one for the engineers....

If you had a frame that accepted a shock with a stroke of X and you replaced that shock (same I2I) with a stroke of say X+0.25" assuming the frame did not now hit itself (including tires) at max downstroke would there be any consequences? Would the frame now be stressed out etc.?

I don't see how there would be any problems given the above conditions.

Some of you may have even tried this on frames.. if so - results?

It would depend on the frame. I Don't think stresses would really be the issue, I think clearance may be a problem, a lot of frames have the wheel come really close to interfering with the frame at full travel.

I've done it with an older VPS with success but clearance is the big issue.

Give an example. I'll run it through some software and see what happens.

I thought about the same thing before I ordered my Avy for my old Stab Primo.

If the wheel didnt already hit the seat when it was (too) low I probably would've. I almost orderd a 8.75" i2i by 3" stroke instead of a 8.75 x 2.75 but after talking to Craig at Avy, he talked me out of it with things like voiding warranty, unknown issue's like repetitive bottom outs and the cost of rebuilding the avy to the right stroke i2i.

if its the same i2i, and it can be fully compressed without anything rubbing, then there's no problem functionally. Its possible that you could lose some progressiveness at the end depending on the linkage that drives the shock.

What kind of frame?

There is no problem, that is the difference between a blur and a blur LT. So it has been done by Santa Cruz.

That's an empirical answer, just because it works on a Blur, doesn't mean it will work on every bike. Something like an older G-Spot for example, the back wheel would hit the seat tube if the travel was longer.

I recently changed my 2.0 stroke 5th Elephant for a 2.3 stroke Fox RC on my Santa Cruz Heckler. So my travel went from 5" to >5.5".
Performs without a hitch - No contact or clearance issues at all.
