Greetings!
Just moved to Vancouver and I was wondering if there was a good site I could go to to search for trails in my area. I would like to find something close by my place for after work riding (Oak and 16th) that I could ride to and from.
I know that the cycle shops all do group rides and that there are some sweet spots on the mountains in the Vancouver area and I plan on hitting them after the snow melts and we get a car.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Kev.

It's a rather vague request you have put forth. Trails around the city tend to be steep, technical and the emphasis is on the descent, not the climb, so if you are an XC rider, then you are a lot more limited in what's rideable. If you are into DH, there are a few good high speed runs around, but for the most part, the trails are technical, tight and slower. So I guess the question is; what are you looking for, and what's your background?
As for websites, Gutsploder (http://www.gutsploder.net) is a decent place to start.
I don't think snow is an issue on the trails at the moment, and there is some great riding to be had at the moment.
Fire me a PM and I'll see if I can take you on a Shore 101 ride.

Thanks biggles604!
I have done a little DH this past summer but for the past couple of years I've been mainly focused on XC Riding/Trail Riding. I ride a GF Cake 2 so I usually rent when I get a chance to DH. Of course, now that I am in Vancouver I'll be shopping for a second bike!
I'm just looking for something that would take an hour or two for an after work workout. I'll check out Gutsploder today.
Thanks again!
Kev.

Hey smoochy!
Nope, lights are something else I need to invest in! Any suggestions?

I'm not sure smoochy got his point across. I beleive he's suggesting HID as the best choice for lights.
Not alot of action around Oak and 16th. Endowment lands for really easy spin is really the only thing within a 20 Minute bike ride. Its really baby jogger trails for the most part but there are some fast little sections that can be fun.
You can ride to the seabus and then catch a bus from there up to fromme.
