Hey everyone. Some buddies and I are planning on taking 7 days and going long to do a road trip. We are thinking of going to the interior, places like Nelson, Golden, Fernie, Kamloops etc. but really don't know too much about the trails or riding in those area's. We of course want to save time and have most of the details worked out before hand so as to not waste any time.
Has any one done any big trips up into the interior that could offer any advise.
Were looking for black diamond level style riding. Any info helps, Thanks.
Dan

A bunch of us went on a trip that way a couple of years ago. One thing you have to do is camp at the top of Mount Seven, then crap your pants riding down the steep shale trail entrance in the morning. You won't regret it.

Kicking horse wasn't worth the wait on the lift 2yrs ago, but they were still working on things. The lift pass was cheap anyway.

Talk to the local boyz a bike shop in Nelson. They're pretty cool and will most likely shuttle up with you after a night of beers. (Oh...don't let all the beautiful women fool you. There's a reason they're always in pairs).

Thanks for the help. That is great. I have heard of Mt7, that is near Golden right? Is it heli drop?
Nelson is great, that is the one place up there I have ridden and will likely visit on this trip. I will keep an eye out for the girls.

Kamloops is one of the places I was curious about. Cheryl is there a local trail map we can buy?

Yeah Mt. Seven is near Golden. It's not a Heli drop, but it's a hell of a long drive up. The view of the Valley is amazing. It gets pretty cold at night up top so make a big fire and drink lots of beer till you pass out or the Sun comes up. Hahaha!!! I love road trips. Oh don't forget to streak down the main street in Nelson doing manuals.

there is a heli drop on mt 7. you can drive to the 2nd launch, then hike for an hour or so to get there, but you dont actually get to the peak that way. regardless its amazing up there. the psychosis race circut is something to give you nightmares its stupidly steep and if its a bit wet, be prepared. kicking horse is an awesome place to spend a day riding, its super fast and really fun.

We did a trip this August that I'd love to do again. For the most part we had friends to stay with the whole trip and I really recommend finding locals to show you the goods.

We rode 3 days in Kamloops, then Silverstar for a day. From there, headed to Golden. Planned to ride Mount 7 but a massive thunderstorm made us hide in the tent. Next day, pedalled up to the 10 km mark (we'd been shuttling and wanted to stretch the legs - if you can arrange a shuttle, do it, the climb was LONG!!) A woman in one of the board shops on the main drag gave us a number of a guy who did shuttles, sorry can't remember more details.

Next was Fernie. Park was fun, again, if you can meet some locals to show you stuff around town, there's some really sweet riding, not to mention beautiful views.

In Nelson and Rossland, some of the local shops run rides weeknight (Rossland was $10 for the shuttle), again, lots of trails and lots of fun.
