Obsession: Bikes

We used to be Dizzy , Now we are Obsessed.
Here is a quick outline on why we are changing the store name , what it means , and what else may change .
Simply, in 2000 after 6 years of Sales Repping for Outdoor Gear Canada I partnered up with my previous employers Paul Sim and Leslie Smith to start up Dizzy Cycles in North Vancouver. Paul and Les were the former owners of the Bike Cellar.
The idea was straight forward; assemble a kick butt team of bike freaks, and offer the best Service in the lower mainland.
The plan was always present to purchase the store from Paul and Les. The purchase took place in May of 2006. Since Paul and Les owned the name Dizzy Cycles as well as another store operating under the that name (started in 2003). The obligation was mine to change the name of the North Vancouver store .
We laboured hard to come up with a name as cool as Dizzy.
The first list of names was over 100 and after rendering this down to 20 a simple truth started to surface: We are Obsessed. We are Obsessed with; the truth, great service, good parts supply, the best staff and all forms of bike. We ourselves are Obsessed with the performance of our bikes and we are bringing this Obsession to the market.
The name change is not going to change how we approach our business, if anything we will be even more focused on our customers and what they need from their bike store. Hey that’s not to say we don’t make mistakes – we are just Obsessed with not making them twice!
Lou Costa is still Obsessed , Matt Smith Obsessed, James, well you know – I am Obsessed!
We will still run North Shore Rippers, raising thousands of dollars for the NSMBA. We are the home for "Bikes for Tykes" where you can give your old bike to a Kid in this neighbourhood who can’t afford one (See Thursday’s North Shore Outlook). We will setting up a group/team of DH riders, XC riders and Road riders. We have a new identity and in the same way that I brought Dizzy to the marketplace I will be bringing Obsession. High Quality, Accountable service from people who care about your ride. A social concsience to ensure that we have areas to ride in. Killer logos and images that will help you reinforce your truth – You have an Obsession: Bikes
Watch for our changes through out the winter and by the time spring comes it will be official ……….. Obsession: Bikes
Special thanks to all our customers who have made this possible!
