He is the guy who wrote "The Other North Shore ...A Riding Experience" trail guide book for Belcarra, Eagle, Burke & Burnaby Mtn.
My copy is from 2001, so I was wondering if there is a newer edition out there.

My guess is no. I recall that some of the trail builders in the area were less than enthusiastic about some of the trails that were included on the map.

He works at city of Vancouver or Burnaby
I talked to him a month or so ago. He is still thinking about updating it (and giving it a big overhaul) but is very, very busy.

Thanks, I guess that answers the question, there isn't one yet but might be one in the future.

Last I heard he was working for the city of Vancouver in the Park Planning department. Riding his bike from one meeting to another.
Dale is/was an awesome guy... its a bit of an end-of-an-era with Blak Dog closing and all. He gave that place a legitimate MTB vibe back in the day.

OK OK... I know where he is. I am he.
I haven't written a new book.
Sure some people didn't like some trails being included, but most thought it was a great effort, given the stone age of digital underworld book production.
Good folks like Darryl (builder of the dentist) and I meet often at Whistler and other places, and he never complained to me.
The City of Coq. has even used it to formalise/legitimise trails and keep some open that the community had wanted closed, so sometimes books are good, as they make informal things more formal. They also act as a proof or record of existence, so developer's may be required to leave them or reconstruct them.
I would love to write a new book. I keep up on the trails, ride the area about 3 times per week.
I now work at SFU, so ride up Joes or Mels every morning and rip it up home everynight as well! Nice commute!
Look at the UniverCity website and you can find out how to contact me if you want to, but only for love, not for hate.

Besides, who are all of you???
And thanks Drew, for the nice words about Blak Dog back in the day... it has faded as a true mtb place. Although, word is out there may be a new dedicated owner?????

DALE!
It's Steve McMillan here. Popped by BDB the other day to "pay my respects" to Kam. He seemed happy and wanted to talk about the old times we had. Those club rides were awesome.
I got married to a dh racer and we bought a townhouse in poco.
Peace bro.

I've heard the shop might be getting "resurrected"... but it will never be the same for me (and this isn't intended to make anyone feel old) but I bought my first real mountain bike there, from you, when I was basically a kid. It was a metallic blue Iron Horse with a Rigid fork and full Shimano STX.
I remember geeking out about your bike because it was (and actually still is) the only AMP fork I had ever seen in person.

Nice to hear from you all. Steve, saw your parents on Halloween and told them to say hi. Say Mike buying furniture the other day in PoMo for he and his lover. Townhouse in Poco? You're a tough mother. Layla teaches in Poco and rides Burke a couple nights a week.
Ah, the days of yore.... still have that AMP fork. There's some things that are sacriledge to get rid of. It's not original, though, as it had the linkage busted and replaced about 4 times.
I think there is hope for BD with a super-dedicated owner if he can get his crap together with financing... super knowledgeable, super-techy kind of guy that knows his way around the business.... and knows Eagle, so maybe real big mountain group rides might start up again.
And Lee, if you're reading this, I ride Crank Bros. pedals up and down this damn hill everyday, and they work golden. Come on up the hill one day and I'll set you up right.

hey dale - i'd pretty much given up on getting you out skiing
I'm sorry about dissing Crank Bros but I did about 5 rides on them; RTFM'ed. Even read all the mtbr setup threads. Didn't work plus should you really have to mess around with a pedal that much to get it to work?

Yeah... I get out skiing only about 20 days a year right now, as we have 2 little one's -- 1 and 3. So the big touring days are on hold right now. contact me through this and I'll get you my e-mail, as I'd love to stay on your mailing list. I have mimic'd or previously done some of your ski and bike routes. Interestingly, our polar read-outs were nearly identical to yours for Comfortably Numb, except we added the Section 102 and Kill me Thrill Me to make it a loop.
6 hours on an RMX. My wife on her Session 77 and my buddy on his Giant Faith -- but we did all go clipless! Crank Bros. platforms.
I'm on Nike World Cup shoes, my wife is on NorthWave all mtn shoes, and my buddy is on Cannondale shoes and we all use C-Bros pedals for our clipless. I'm the only one that had to modify; and all I did was use the shims. I just can't figure out what happened with you?????
So, hopefully you keep me in your e-mail loop.
Dale.

I don't think we've ever met.
I haven't ridden the mountains covered in your book all that much, but since we bought a place out here in suburbia, heading over there is just as close as a trip to the NS mtns.
Since I prefer the less busy non-shuttle trails, the mountains your book covers are more to my liking.
Thanks for the info on your book.
