I don't know about you guys, but I wouldn't mind a new shed thread. Our old one thrived for so long that I hope it's son, Shed Thread II, will do the same.

So if you like the Shed or wanna know about it (as it is really starting to kick ass now!!), just keep this thing alive!!

the three teeter totter or "Stairway" Trail is being built on with some fairly high up skinny stuff, and then to a low log ride that goes on forever (even under the upramp for the original trail). Hopefully we'll put something super uber fun on the log, but its kinda on an up slope so it'd be hard to get speed for say a roller coaster or something.

Simon's trail is near completion, he just has to rung it up. It looks really neat.

Al's trail or rider 24/7 called bitch slapper made a trail with crazy skinny log rides, a really steep roll down, two primo swivel totters, and a suspended portion of bridge! Its a technical riders' dream!

The goats apparently built level 5 which is just off of the beginning of what used to be bender (its pretty lame now). Its quite technical with skinny log rides, and tight turns, and one little gap. Its worth checking out.

Theirs a couple other new improvements, like a beam being put across the top of the roots at the grav bowl so now u can launch a lot easier. Theirs also some more little gap jumps here and there.

Me and some of my buds are also gonna do our best to make really good box tranny's for as many of the big drops (which is like 3 right now) as we can find. The 8 footer on goats, we'll have a tranny uber smooth so even ht's can do it (don't worry we won't make the drop any smaller), and the same with the 6 footer off the log ride.

We also want to start looking for lines to make an a-line style trail just full of gaps and hucks. The shed is on a natural slope, and if we used that to keep our speed, and built our jump trail further down the shed where the old stuff used to be, but there's nothing now, it would be sweet. Everything from 5 to 25 foot gaps would be in order. Maybe bigger.

Suggestions for anything new or better in the shed guys???

I just re-did a little piece of trail that starts about 50' left from the end of bitch slapper right as the trail turns left toward the highway 10 lookout. A couple smaller hits and burms a little step up gap and a drop that can be anywhere from 4.5 to 8' depending on your speed. It ends up at the bottom of the drop trail. I called it 6 seconds cuz thats about how long it takes.:D

uhhh Its getting so hard building. U have to search sooo long to get wood now. And getting curved wood for a roller coaster is even harder!! We might just concentrate on making jumps, gaps, and tranny's for drop from now on. We'll eventually finish the second part of Stairway, but for now we'll concentrate on stuff that is fun and doesn't take too long. We'd love some dj's, but unless theirs a secret spot, I have no idea where we could put 'em.

any suggestions?

Very neato.

It was so neato I came out of the place looking like Arnold Schwarrzenegger in my avatar pic.

Anyways, we should pick out a good spot that's somewhat secluded, taking advantage of the shed's slope. Perhaps by the paradise area. Me and some buds are thinking of building a big down ramp about 10 feet high for speed! That would be a lot of work, but really neato!!

Hey Ouch!!, some of those punk kids:p are gonna school your ass next time you go riding with em:eek:

On a serious note, instead of having a trail day to build a new trail with DJ's, we should do some work on areas that are gonna turn into swamps when it actually starts to rain. Or add something to the bottom of the drop trail so people have a direction to go down there instead of 5 different lines:rolleyes:
Some of the rungs on Bender's stunts need fixing too. Even fix some trannies.

I wish i had more time to go in there and so some work.

12-04-2002, 01:42 PM
hey Rhubes, great work on stairway and that new skinny section.. sick man.. just sick.

As for fast a-line jumps style, yes I agree.. it's much needed. The goats jumps are really fun.. but ultra short.

I was thinking that, that section near the parking lot by the water pump would be a sweet place to build up some jumps off to the side or make up a section parrallel to this. However, the problem is, is that we'd have to make it cross the main gravel pathway there.. which.. well would suck cause of pedestrians.

hmmmm.. I think that a run from the top of the trail to the bottom would just be sick.. I mean.. can you imagine.. it would be a bitch to climb back up.. but it would rock.. there are multiple paths that we could build one up with. Hell we could avoid pedestrians by building up a MONDO gap jump :D right over their heads.. ahha

btw.. I think that we should do something with the area with the old log ride that broke at the end of the trail which stairway is one... I think that there is some sick potential in there.

I couldn't agree more, there's also alot of cedar in there and if you look closely, there's a sweet log ride waiting to be used;)

It's gonna have a bit of everything, some sick skinnies a drop or 2 and there is a good spot for a couple of gaps at the end:thepimp: I haven't decided on the final line yet I still have to walk it a couple more times to figure out the best use of the resourses available.:D ( I sound like a land use manager  )

The jump trail line has some great potential too. All it needs is a little shovel work to make it a fast a-line type trail. build up the hits that are already there, add a couple above and below, and presto trailo:D

Yeah, the Goat's drop is bigger than Stairway's drop. The gravity bowl over the roots is probably the biggest drop. Some guy's building a drop down Purse Snatcher which looks huge:|

I can't wait till Paradise is done, that trail's got sooo much potential.

where is paradise?

do you really think that the gravity bowl drop is now bigger then the goats? I think that goats is a lot hairier.. thats for sure..

What happened to that trail that has the gap in the bridge to that large stump? that was looking SICK!

Me and my friend Mike's trail extension is getting very arduous. It seems like its becoming harder and harder to find good wood thats already on the ground.

Oh well. I think we need a trail day/building day to jump start some more shit!!!!

Hey Rhubes, there's tons of old cedar trees at the bottom of my new trail, just saw off chunks and split the bad stuff off the outside and there's still tons of good wood in the middle, that's what i've been using. Have you seen the rungs i got started on the end of the coaster. Even at the end of Lower Simon's, there is a charcoled stump that's about 8 ft tall, there's chunks of old cedar lying around beside it, just split pieces off of that. The burnt peices are better because the wood inside is better preserved. Next time i'm in there i'm gonna be doing some more splitting, so i'll try and get some extra peices

Wow you guys sure do whore this thread!! NOt that its bad, but I miss so much in so little time!!! O well.

Uhhh me and some people were in the shed yesterday (wednesday) looking for a place to build dj's. All the places we've found will have to be cleared with some minor trees being cut out that are already dead.

We also tried to steepen the 8 footer drop on goats, but its pretty damn hard. Its like condensed gravel and it took forever just to crack the top layer. We did it in the pitch black mind you. Its not complete and we might have to just make a box tranny. The rungs are in pretty shitty conditon though, so it needs to be fixed up.

Its extremely hard finding a good spot without going too far down or across towards the old shed section.

Were thinking of building wooden base's first, and then piling dirt over them.

My new bike arrives on the weekend some time, so I don't think I'll be able to go riding, but I might very well be in the shed building on saturday. I'll tell my crew (who I represent cause none of 'em are on nsmb now).

Uhhh, that'd be great if you could hook us up with some good wood Simon, as we are a tad distraught with building are trail extension and have frankly moved on to projects with more immediate results, such as dj's in the shed which I'm sure would be a HUGE hit. Perhaps also somewhere to build just a gap trail with anything from 6-25 feet using the shed's slope!

To wrap up, any future projects or existing ones that need to be completed or started, really need more people helping out. As of now, I believe there are 3 people working consistently in the shed. Me (Paul), Simon, and my friend Mike who made most of Stairway's extension and rides a shore with '02 monsters.

So trail days are fine and dandy, but people offering to help once in a while would be nice too. With shitty conditons beginning I hope we'll be able to see some new builders coming out!

That'd be uber great.

Hey Adam, have you seen the new trail yet, it's beautiful :thepimp: There's just a bit to do near the top, then it's rideable from top to bottom, right now there are some fallen branches in the way, but it's kinda good cause like i said the begining needs a bit of work. Yeah that's it, just if you try it, the end of the drop needs a little bit of touching up so you don't pull a Keefer.

Yeah Axx, Keefers bail could've gone terribly wrong. Gotta give em props on the dismount though:D

Hey Ian, the drops not that bad, just gotta be confident and carry speed around the berm for the drop. The tranny's really smooth, first time i nosed it and it was still smooth, the second time i was fine. I can't wait to get a little bit more confident so i can you the full tranny and maybe add a bit of style:p

i went to the shed today. The new trails you guys finished is sweet. altho i was pretty sketched out by it in the wet. I also finally found the super pier. I only did the mini one. I found this ladder drop at the bottom of the super pier. I did it nosed it just a tiny bit. ON a dry day woulda landed it but since the tranny was soaked through in mud i dug in like 6 inch's and bailed pretty hard. Sad thing is that the drop is only like 5-6 feet max.

Yeah, it's gonna be tough the first few times especially in the rain. The key with everything is momemtum; to roll though the coaster, through the berm at the end to hit the drop and the steep logride, you just gotta follow the groove on the left the roll through the bottom have, if you don't, your tire will probably slide out. Like i said, i gotta touch-up a few spots still before it's good to go:D So far though it kicks ass

I'm gonna start building in the shed now. We should get some dj's started somewhere. I also was thinkin maybe a drop park like at whistler or even just some low to the ground skinnies. I just don't know any really good places to build the stuff. anyone have any ideas?? cause i plan to be there alot during the christmas break.

Right where my trail comes out would be a really sweet spot, there's alittle meadow there beside the gravel service road

oh yeah of course. YOu think people will care cause they can see it. I walkedup right near there and there is tonnes and tonnes of scrap wood that can be used as a base for the dj's.

Yeah, this weekend sounds good, i'm gonna try and get in there this week sometime and put a couple hours in.

Just curious, but for putting in a little DJ park somewhere within the shed is something the shedbikeclub could get involved with along and talk to the Delta city coucil to help out maybe even along with the Dirt Club. Could happen.

Thanks grashopa, hopefully it going by the end of this weekend. Who knows, on Sat, me, Keefer and Axx spent almost 4 hours just working on the tranny. Lotta hard work that takes forever, but definatly well worth it in the end:D

What happened to Rhubes. You guys still working on the stump drop tranny or stairway:???:

Thats the last drop of "six seconds" you should try it from the top its fun. Sorry about the mud filled tranny, I've been meaning to get in there and fill it up and pack it down again but haven't had time.

You should see the tranny on BM, me, Axx and Keefer spent forever to build up a solid base of boulders with a nice layer of soil on top, still need a bit more dirt with all this rain, but it's so smooth:D

The tranny would be fine if we hadn't had like 40 mm of rain the night before. I should prolly be building in the shed this weekend...or atleast sometime before christmas

I'm currently remodeling my bathroon so thats taking up a lot of my trail building time. I've also got an idea for at the gravity bowl. I thought about putting in a second line to the left over that log that is laying sideways. One idea was to just make it into a drop and maybe put in a step up on the far side or something. the other was to make it start from the high point on the other side put in a down hill to downhill drop and use that log as A huge step up back to the high side ( if that makes sense ) So you could ride something fun back insread on riding around. What do you all think?

that actually seems like a pretty good plan, but it migt be hard to get enough speed

Next time you're in there take a look to the left of the lip on the far side of the bowl, it is actually higher than the side that we launch from. Steeper too. Ther are a few logs that will have to be moved and a shitload of shovel work but it could work.:D If it does it will be SICK:eek:

uh oh shed thread gettin down there. no but seriously.

I should be atleast startin the dj's over christmas. Do we want them spread out or compact and close toghether? How many different lines should we get?? Also what would be sick is to have a down ramp for getting speed.

axx
12-16-2002, 06:50 PM
i say have rythm with 3 lines. small medium and large

homework's/school's a bitch. I've been working/doing homework always, and there's hardly any time for play. Oh, and I just got my new .243 built up and its uber dope sic/phat.

Christmas holidays on friday then play-play-play. Any mods to the grav bowl would be sweet, but most likely torn down. It all depends on where the delta parks board is standing right now, and I don't really know (still tearing down stuff, or just the shitty stuff).

Hey Axx, who are you going up to Fromme with on Sat, it's my B-day on this weekend so hopefully i get to head up to the shore either day.

As for the Gravity Bowl as long as everything is fairly subtle and natural looking (like the new take-off over the roots) then everything should be OK. And if anybody needs any PVC piping for drainage, I have some stashed away in the shed so just let me know. I know for the GB that might be a good idea to keep a puddle from forming at the bottom like there is now.

And 243_ht where about's you putting in these DJ's? And if you need a hand, just let me know. I'm sure there's alot of other people that are willing to lend a hand to.
