It was awesome on saturday.
I like those jumps someone put down that are kinda like air supply tabletops. Need to be quite a bit longer though, then they'd be PIMP! Nice work put into em though, for sure.

I haven't been that cold and miserable on a ride for a long time. It was a slush storm under the trees from all the snow falling off the branches. Usually its nicer under the trees but not yesterday. Oh well we had fun anyway. Riding simons, staiway and mr twister in the snow makes for some interesting moments. :D

No directions on the board, but I'll tell you next time I see you. You have probably already seen it though. All I'll say is it's in the west end of the park, past the scout house.

ride on friday and saturday was just perfect.cool and dry.great conditions in da shed.however sundays ride with simo and al was quite a bit different.cool wet and very muddy.it seemed like it was hailing in the trees from all the snow melting and all the stunts were covered.very sketchy and challenging but we all still ripped it up.good times.hey eric, did ya fix your derailler yet?:P

went for a ride yesterday in da shed.it wasn't as wet as sunday but there was still a lot of standing water.the mesh on the skinny on level 5 is slightly torn so rider beware.me thinks ride24/7 was in there this am fixing up a few things.this weather really sucks bone and it's supposed to rain all week.hopefully the weekend will be better.not that the trail nazi has struck again but just remember guys to check out the stunts before you hit 'em.as of yesterday everything looked great{except the mud} later days, bruiser:rocker: :bandit:

Congrats and thanks to all the builders on the shed... Had my first ride up there last weekend and was impressed at the jumps, and stunts out there...
To bad you guys don't have more vertical land to work with but for what you do have it is a sick park...
I am coming back to hit the new table you guys where filling up...

oh man! I just tried to true my front wheel, cause lots of the spokes were pretty loose (so I just wanted to tighten them, hoping that would then true the wheel so much, cause my rotor was rubbing against the brake pads cause of the rims wobble.

So I made use of my spoke key and tightened every spoke really tight, and now it's got a HUGE wobble in it, I made it sooo much worse!!!

Anybody know how to do DECENT home truing jobs with spoke keys? There must be a way, other than a truing machine!?

Ruhubes do you have msn cause i can tell yo how on there

.glib
03-11-2003, 04:30 PM
The first thing to know is that if spokes are loose, you tighten the OPPOSITE side. If they're loose, it means the rim is slightly closer to them, or bend in their direction. Therefore, you tighten the other side to bring it over, then when you check em, they're all tight.

I made the same mistake when I was learning.

If the Century is the huge drop in the area populated with Birch trees, we should really build a jump off the fallen Birch tree on the bottom that blocks the trail. If anyone wants to pm me and we can build it during Spring Break. Also the drop should have posts instead of sticks as supports. I'm pretty sure the trail nazi could mess up the drop pretty easily if he sees it.

What kind of ratio are you thinking? Are are you running 24s or 26s?

It seems if I want my bike to be able to do trails and such I need to run an easier ratio than the hardcore streeters, which means learning to ride fakie will be harder.

You can expect a bike shop to do an oil change for about $30-$40. Maybe more or less depending on the shop and if you get a bro deal there or not;) If you are going to do it yourself you can download the owners manual from marzocchi.com if you need help pm me, I've changed the oil in mine lots of times.:)

it should be 90 mm from the top or the stanchion leg. ( with the forks fully compressed )So take a piece of cardboard and cut a long thin strip and use it as a dip stick. just slide it down until it hits the oil, mark it at the top of the stanchion and then pull it out and measure between the mark and the oil line. Remember that as you put oil in to extend and plunge the forks a few times to get any bubbles out of the lowers. You can fine tune the compression of the forks by ajusting the oil level a little. 80 mm will soften them 100mm will stiffen them as this chnges the size of the air pocket and adds ar subtracts springyness.

If you're coming from the highway, take the first right after the firehall. Follow this road down until you see a crosswalk, turn right again. Go to end of the street (~400m). School on right. Park.

bruiser and myself pulled that warning down at the beginning of stairway regarding the "hit" after the drop. It was a good idea for putting up a warning, however you nailed directly into a tree:???: I suggest you put up a larger sign, easy to read, and stuffed in a zip lock, AND DON"T NAIL IT DIRECTLY INTO A TREE, that looks horrible and just feeds the fire that MB'ers are inconsiderate to the environment.

And just another suggestion, build up the tranny and move the hit a few feet back.

Mike_Shore_rath
03-17-2003, 10:13 AM
We didn't have anything else for the "warning" and the jump isn't done yet so quit worrying. ;)

grashopa
03-17-2003, 10:24 AM
Our concern was the nail in the tree, that just doesn't look good and nailing into tree's will kill them. We took the sign down so it would not draw attention to the nail.

As far as the jump is concerned, I'm all for it and realize its not a finished product.

whats at the shed now, since some of the shit got torn down a while back or was it just goats trail....ohhhhh yea instead of nailing sign into a tree that guy would prob rather u spray paint the equivalent sign on the vegtation or put a sign on a post in the ground, the perfect things for some idiots to steal, knock over or pull out and toss it in the bushes

Don't jump into a conversation where you don't know the facts or the history behind it. As the Shed bike club is in the middle of discussions with the city regarding the use of trails in the Shed, we the MB'ers have to show that we are respectfull to all trail users and the environment we use. How about stapling the sign up, therfore only penetrating the bark. Sign post? Spray paint? What the :censored: are you talking about.

PS. Nothing was ever torn down on Goats, So don't speak about something you have no knowledge of.

There is tons of fun stuff in the shed now... too much to write about... all of which is currenly under threat of being cut down if we can't work out a deal with the parks people. That's why we are all trying really hard to make ourselves look as good as possible. We don't have nearly as much support as we would like and anything that pisses anyone off that can be avoided should be. Including silly little things like nails in trees. It's all about P.R. and how we are percieved by other park users and the parks people... unfortunatly that doesn't always coincide with reality. On to the hit in question... I reserve opinion until I've hit it but it looks kinda close to the tranny. It will be ok if you land the drop solid but might be a problem if you land a bit sketchy. I'll see how it is next time I'm riding.

Mike, the hole on the left looks like a perfect spot to hide all the leftovers from the building of stairway...hint, hint. It would be a good job to give eric , it will keep him out of trouble.;)

Rocky Cycle is a rip off, take your work to The Bike Zone.

Rampage, there's a reason for the price difference, and its not different product.

ouch!!
03-17-2003, 10:10 PM
If you want oil even cheaper. Go to Pacific Yamaha. Same fork oil. For under $10!!! The bike stores mark it up way to much. And yes I meant 10 weight. Sorry. Or go to any Moto X store.

Attn. all Shed Heads.

I just got word from bruiser that the Trail Nazi has struck again. His latest antics have been done on bender and Level5 and appear to have been done with intent to injure. First off bender, he pulled the last 3 rungs out of the A-frame right before the drop to wood berm. He placed the rungs back in their proper position, however they were loose with nails up(put there to disguise until it was to late). He also put some lovely big rocks on the tranny, unfortunately this was found out by one of the goats the hard way, he is OK though. This was obviously done with malicious intent. He broke the skinny at the beginning of Level5, pulled out some of the gap, and pulled out some of the drainage after the gap before the rock. If all you guys are going into the shed today, check all the stunts before you ride. Keep your eyes open for this fool, I hope for his sake you don't catch him in the act ;)

Grr, If I find him he'll be sorry. And yes i'm going to the Shed today to building some more on Stairway. Gonna finally finish the berm and finish the jump with Erik, Craig and maybe Paul if he's up to it. They're probably are all sleeping the day away right now. I've been up since 7 and now it's 9.

Hey all I just got off the phone with Brett from the Shed bike club, he was in contact with people from the corp. of delta about the fact that the new damage was done in a way to potentially hurt people.

IF YOU SEE THIS GUY DON'T CONFRONT HIM...GET A GOOD LOOK AT HIM AND TRY TO FIND OUT WHO HE IS, IF WE CAN WE CAN GO TO THE POLICE AND PRESS CHARGES.

Things are still sort of a grey area with the parks people over the built stunts but this last stuff has really pissed off the parks people and they are certaily sympathizing with us on this in regards to him wreaking stuff in a way to try and hurt people. So please don't kick the shit out of him ... as much as we would all like to... it will be way better if we can get things done properly through the proper authorities. So any info get it to Brett at shedbikeclub@hotmail.com

I will be making up and posting some new warning signs etc. asap.

In the mean time BE CAREFUL..

I go away for a few days and everything goes to hell, people are bitching at each other for stupid, pointless reasons and the damn trail Nazi strikes again:mad: And nobody owns the shed (and when i say that i mean nobody physically owns the shed, it's for everybody) because everyone knows that I :cuffs: da shed:P ;)

Anyways, what's with all the tension. The only person we should be throwing our aggression at (and i don't mean physically) is this damn trail Nazi and his evil schemes. The one good thing about it is it gave me a reason to finally beef up some of Simon Says, but other that, I hope this bastard doesn't hurt anyone.

Oh, and if anybody wants to meet up for a ride Saturday morning, i'm in:D

Rhubes
03-18-2003, 01:58 PM
If I see the trail nazi I'm going to stand between him and whatever he's destroying and see if he takes a swing at me, then me and my friends are gonna pin him down, drag him to the pinewood parking lot, and get the PO-lice to take him away...

I doubt if ANY of that is gonna happen but it'd be funny.....

In a more serious tone if we see him ripping some stuff down, I'm just going to take note of what he looks like and then FOLLOW him to wherever he lives so the police can have an adress.

Anyways were going to do maintenance and shit and maybe some riding... Apparently it monsooned last night....

We'll be near stairway if you wanna come help... we may ride later...

03-18-2003, 02:09 PM
Depending on my homework situation, i might be in the shed for a bit around noon or so. I'll just be touching up Simon Says.

And sorry Paul for not getting back, i still haven't heard anything and i've been really busy, the shitty thing is they're not open on sun or mon:rolleyes: I'll try and let you know soon:o

Apparently when Brett talked to Carol at the corp. of Delta she said that she thought the police should be involved and that they might contact them themselves and get a file started, at least I THINK that's what was said but don't quote me, I have been known to be wrong before.... hell I thought bruiser was a cool guy at one time and boy was I wrong about that:nerd:...... :P :D

I bet that if we did confront this guy (perhaps the old guy), with the police he'd be dumbfounded and shitting himself!! He probably doesn't think he's doing anything tooooo wrong (or illegal), but when the LAPD pull some police brutality on his ass, he'll realize what the dizzle is.
