hey hows it goin
I haven't been to the shed in a while and I was wonderin if the 2 pier drop/gap launch ramps have been fixed or rebuilt since the trail nazi last struck? Can they be fixed? Will they. As soon as we find out what happens with the city we should have a big trail day and fix everything! Or have we found out?......?:???:

Check everything before you ride, sure glad we did today. It appears this person does their work during the day when we're all at work or school. Speaking of the Shed... I went there today. Had a nice little rip about. Watch out when parking on Pinewood, there's some guy whose house is just east of the elementary school on the same side of the street, he'll go apeshit if you park anywhere near his driveway - which I had the misfortune of doing. He comes out and starts going off on me from his freaking balcony, I guess he's just too pussy to come down and have a little mano a mano talk. I try to be nice and apologize, then he busts out the "intimidation" and goes "The last guy that did that, it cost him $200, the tow truck's on its way."

Why the fuck are some people such assholes. I guess he was just looking for a confrontation, it's a good thing I have some sort of gift of talking in a polite way while all the time insulting the other guy.

Moral of the story: Watch out for parking Nazi, and I hate the general public...

Saturday morning, fairly early, me and grasshopa ( and hopefully bruiser) are morning riders. I'd like to be riding by 10:00 am so yhat means leaving N.D by around 9:00 or a little after. As for mountain we were thinking Fromme as cbc will be way too muddy after all this rain and besides its nice to get warmed up with the climb. I'm thinking if the weather is not bad we could hit upper oilcan starfish and boundry. If its really wet I'm thinking old school rage run down 7th ,crickum crankum, leopard trail, then if we are feeling good cut back up for some thing else maybe. What do you guys think?

Eric how far are you from daves place? I was thinking we could all meet there as dave and aaron are nieghbors.

I don't think it's city council that has the problem, there's a group of 10 or so people that are part of the parks committee that aren't city council people and it them that think that we are "vandals" These are the same people that are in charge of all the parks in the region and have no clue what mtn biking really is and the what it has to offer the residents of Delta. Oh well, i can't make it to the meeting (unless you guys can make the meeting at the Tim Hortons on Nordel below the Alex Fraser:rolleyes: I have to work:( Hopefully this thing moves on in a postive direction.

So is anybody going in for a rip on Sunday? I'm trying to get up to the Shore, but if i can't get anybody to commit and go up with me then i'm gonna at least hit up da shed

First we went to New West and met up with the Gan man. Sessioned there for a bit. Then we checked out the DJ's in New West and they were all right but need some work. After that Rampage and I proseded to the GF DJ's and sessioned those for awhile. We didn't fully session them do to the fact that they were to wet and we didn't want to reck them. But we sessioned the one big table there and fun was had. So all in all we had a good time. I crashed hard at the New West skate park hard. I thought a cracked a rib but continued to ride. We would like to get a big ride going with more peps. We were thinking getting a big shore ride with a bounch of us (begginers, Inter, expert) whoever wants to come and ride the shore. Whether you have ridin the shore or not. I think it would be fun. Let me know what you guys think and get back to me.

I was talking to Bruiser and grasshopa ( we hit fromme on saturday:D ) and we thought it would be cool to get a "shed head shore ride" going one weekend a month. Get all the shed thugs out and do some real riding;) Who thinks this is a good idea?

The ride we did on fromme was great:D  :D Rode up at a nasty pace set by bruiser ( he musta eaten his wheaties :P ) did Upper Oil Can. Just a light dusting of snow on the top half. Ladies and Lower Ladies, then back up for a bomb run down the trail that the little kids use as a dh course ( it runs from half way up the 2nd switchback to behind the green water towers ) and then we hit lower griffen out to McNair.. All in all a great ride:D :thepimp: :D No bad bails... only a little bit of rain.:)

you guys need to build something that will take place of the "deck" or the "super peir" what ever you guys call it and this time it will be called the super deck or somthing something even larger gap wise:) cause with taht run in u can easily gap like 30 - 35 ft

30-35, too much for that spot, theres soo much overhang, and if you start the jump 10 feet up, you would come around that corner and have no time to prepare at all.... if you start it 10 feet back, you will be landing in trees......

i think it was fine the way it was, maybe a bit bigger +or- like 5 feet, but nothing more than than

You guys are going to build nothing of the sort until the Shed Bike Club and Delta parks have come to an agreement. Don't :censored: everything up for all the Shed riders. Put it this way, If you build they will come(Delta Parks), and tear it all down along with existing stunts.

Jeeza man, don't go anal on me cause you're mad that your dick is pinner :P . I'm just saying that i'm sure it would be pretty cool to have a huge gap jump on the drop trail or several. And, what's wrong with building stuff, maybe if you put more effort and use your head when we are building stuff; Rhubes, Craig, Graham, Gaffer and myself don't have to do the job twice. I think Brett and Gary's meeting is before March, so hopefully anyday i'll have some info for all you concerned shed guys.

And as Grasshoppa, Bruiser D and everyone has said NO BUILDING, but that doesn't mean you can't touch existing stuff up, like if a ladder has a broken rung or there's a muddy patch that needs a bit of filling, or a tranny needs some fresh dirt (just don't dig a big hole that everyone can see) just general important touch up stuff so the trails stay in good shape, but no NEW stunts or trails.

Is this a public type meeting, where people from all over delta come to talk about a variety of issues, or is it just strictly the goat's guys and a small bunch of delta parks people?

Cause if it would help, me and some friends could probably come (i doubt it would).

good day shed heads.sorry for the delay but i don't have a computer at home yet.i'm at work on my lunch doin' this.here is a brief outline about what was discussed at the meeting last night with gary, brett, jimmy, jeff, and myself.first of all as i have discussed before1 step forwards,2 steps backwards....we are now taking more steps forwards.gary was talking with carol concerning the ongoing battle with delta parks and as you know there will be no more tearing down of any stunts by delta{who knows about the trail nazi}.there will be NO MORE NEW TRAILS OR STUNTS BUILT in the shed until we establish the exsisting trail network within the shed.signs will be posted at the all the kiosks with the mtn bike code of ethics.i hope that everyone of you already know these simple common sense rules.all trails will be marked with the name of the trail and the dificulty level asap.the shed bike club will report weekly to carol about the regular ongoings in the shed.if somethings broken we will fix it. i know most of you want some "new stuff"in the shed but that will have to wait.this doesn't mean that we can't fix up and change exsisting trails/stunts that we already have with approoval of the shed bike club.here is the list of trails that will be signed and marked with a dificulty level.SIMON SAYS, I'M BROKE, STAIRWAY, LOWER SIMON'S, BM, LEVEL 5, BENDER, LOWER BENDER{INCLUDING THE FRAKENDROP}, BITCH SLAPPER{BS},SIX SECONDS, and the DROP TRAIL.G BOWL will stay as well.the main objective here is to score good "PR" work with carol and the delta council.she has convinced 3 council members to listen, study, and hear our proposals.this is a huge step forward but be warned it could take long time to fulfill all our goals.please shed heads,be frielndly and courteous to all trail users as i'm sure most of you are.please spread this info to all your fellow riders and friends.i hear and read about a lot of great ideas for the shed ,but we have to be vigilant toward any rider that doesn't want to work with the shed bike club.the shed's a special place where one day i want to "rip it up"with my wife and kids and i'm sure most of you feel this way too.please be patient and i'm sure one day this will be coolest place to ride south of the fraser.finally, there will be a trail day on SATURDAY,MARCH 29/03 AT 10 AM AT PINEWOOD SCHOOL.jimmy from the goats will be cookin up pancakes and handing out donuts to those peeps who come early:D as we approach this date,we will have more info on what work will be done that day.i know one of the most important issues will be to clean up the garbage that is strewn about around some of the stunts and to clean up the drop trail.remember peeps GOOD PR WORK WILL HELP US WIN THIS BATTLE with delta council.have a great weekend and i will pass on more info as i get it.email shedbikeclub@hotmail.com if you have any questions or ask me when you see me on the trails stylin' everything:thepimp: sincerely, dave partridge aka BRUISER D:cool:

Wouldn't dirt erode and wash away after a couple of weeks?

If we build it like drop on stairway is built(with logs that are 5"-6" in diameter. Then have about 8 posts that are each 1/3 in the ground and 2/3 above the ground. Then brace it up in every possible way and use 12" screw nails to hold it together. Only use wood from the shed.

It would take about the same amount of time to build it with wood as building a table or a gap built with dirt. I would be more than willing to help if i'm not busy. Tell me what u think.

honestly, i think it's gonna be a while before there would be any chance of building a new trail. I think if was eventually gonna happen, i could see a beginner trail being built up on an existing side trail, something with some wide, low ladders that are a good starting point for beginners, i mean Bender is pretty easy but to newbies it's still quite a challenge.

And Mike, i don't see the prob with finishing the berm on Stairway, i just don't know about the tall skinny to get to it, I definatly like the challenge, but i'm not sure how the city would react.

You're right that high skinny is very scary. I think i'll put up a sign and name that part something and set the difficulty level to "triple black diamond" or "don't proceed unless you're as good as Adam". Building that part took a ton of skill, time and the help of many appreciated riders. I'd hate to see that skinny get torn down by the city. Should i put up a sign or will the club take care of that? Cuz it would be no problem for me to make a sign. Well i gotta be at work in 20 min. Any suggestions to name the skinny?

Oh yeah none of your stuff was in there! It's probably cause bm wasn't finished and all the other stuff was too hard for him, so he edited it out!!!!

Yeah we had one jump almost done in a really stupid place (the middle of an xc'er/walking trail (don't ask)). But it got busted up. Kind of a shame cause it was built really well, and the nazi would've had to put some effort into breaking it.

But I still believe that any good dj spot has to be inbetween trails and not on or very near them. We just have to find an area with sparse trees or none. We can clear out area's if it's all foiliaged up, but the main thing is that the jumps aren't directly pissing anyone off.

03-02-2003, 02:04 PM
That's true, but i don't think we'll have the option of cutting out a new line. There's lots of trails in there that aren't really being used. As long as new stuff isn't built on main trails then it shouldn't be a problem. But anything new like this should go through Brett and his bro's first says me:P After all, if anything new is built, they are the ones that are gonna questioned:rolleyes:

Adam is the only guy that has rode it so far. Adam rules. I hope to go on tuesday with Rhubes after school to finish up the berm. Those new tables are extremely easy. I really don't know why they didn't make the angle of the jump really steep. Maybe if you rocket down from the top of the trail and hit the first table, maybe you could land on the landing of the next one. :D But you would have to cut off the branches out of the way first.

To the guys who built the tables below the scout house:mad:

The huge holes you dug out for dirt look like f**king bomb craters and I strongly suggest that you make an effort to get in there and try to diguise them.Soon. They look terrible and are a hazard to anyone walking through there. This is definately NOT the type of thing we need right now with things so up in the air with the parks department etc. The way other park users, parks people, and city council members percieve us is really important and we need to cultivate a better image. Stuff like this just re-enforces the opions and arguments of the people who feel that bikers are just vandalizing the park. And there are a lot of people including most of the people on the parks board who feel that way.

Hehe, maybe you guys should make a trap for a hiker. Place weak branches across the hole then put leaves on top of it. :D But seriously, it is a huge hole that should be filled in with something.

Hey, maybe this trail nazi thinks all the built stuff in the shed is totally non-sanctioned. Yet, since the shed bike club (?) has been negotiating and have come to some agreement with the powers that be, the stuff build in the shed is essentially sanctioned.

Maybe this guy only needs to understand that what is built in there is NOT illegal, nor unsanctioned. Would it do any good to post a notice that has dual purpose:

basically, inform potential trail builders that no new work (other than maintenance) is to be done ON AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY. Go on to say that with the consent of the city, existing trails will be marked, and new trails will be considered for future construction.

Doing a notice of this sort will not only (hopefully) cut down on new stuff, but it will also serve to let the trail nazi know that what he is destroying has a certain amount of legitmacy.

Yeah, I agree. We should put up a couple of signs saying that the stunts are legal. I HIGHLY DOUBT IT WOULD WORK though. If this person has enough nazi balls to go ahead and rip our shit out before bitching and complaining to an official of some sort or to us, I doubt he would stop if he knew that it was legal. He'll only stop if confronted and informed and or threatened/punished.

Werd, the stuff in the shed IS still illegal, and this guy knows it. How do you think the city knows where all the stunts are. And believe me they know where EVERYTHING is. Thie trail nazi has been whining and bitching to the parks people for years and has taken them around to show them the stunts. The only good thing is he has annoyed the parks guys to so they don't really like him either. That doesn't mean that they don't listen to him.

His identity is not known for sure but I ( and others ) have had run ins with a guy who I am pretty sure is the trail nazi. He is an older fellow ( 50+) and I think he lives up near pinewood. The day I ran into him he was walking through the shed with Rick Dakin ( a parks employee ) and some other people, I'm not sure who they were.

I came across him pulling rungs off the last drop on bender ( the one that is gone now ) and got into a bit of a yelling match until Rick stepped in and gave me his card, ( parks dept card ) at that point I just backed off as I didn't want to make bikers look bad by getting into it with this guy. He was also going on about "there is more up there " pointing to the rest of bender, and going off at me about how " you bikers are ruining the park " and " you guys are way over the top " etc. I told him as far as I was concerned the park was more fun now than it ever was.

This all happened just before the big chainsaw massacre on the drop trail, bender and lower bender that happened last winter.

I am pretty sure it's the same guy stirring the pot now.

You can just bet that he will be pointing out stuff like the bomb crater holes and any other "vandalism" that he sees to the parks guys. I wouldn't be suprised to find out that all the email pictures of all the stunts that Rick Dakin showed to Brett were sent to him by the Nazi:rolleyes:

Oh, I just had an idea for those bomb craters... We should cart in a bunch of easily decomposable stuff (leaves, etc...) cover the last little bit w/ the displaced topsoil, then plant some pretty flowers or something. Some nice petunias or some foxglove. Then see if the TN busts up the flowers, so we can bitch him out w/ the city.

Simon there are a bunch of rungs in the bush where those kids were building that crappy ladder by the school. Some of them are garbage but some of them are probably usable. I found a new trail in progress in the shed today:rolleyes:  in the area above the drop trail . Its got a sign on it calling it " tommygun" Anyone know who's responsible. If you do please tell them to STOP, the last thing we need is more stuff being built when we are fighting to just keep what we have. Besides its not very well built and they are using green, freshly cut live sticks for rungs:rolleyes: :stupid: It is also easily visible from one of the wide gravel paths

Anyway I told Brett from the shed bike club and it will be torn down tonight or tomorrow.

It's funny how the trail already has a sign and it's not even done yet, some people just get a little too excited. Muaha I had an descent ride today with the crew in the shed. Rode Upper Simons, Goats, Stairway and Lower Simons. Upper Simons is perfect, good work Simon. During Spring break i'm so gonna finish up the berm and the log after the high skinny on Stairway.

Maybe we should build the super peir again but this time use wood from the shed only and maybe do a bit of rock work for the run up to the jumps above Goats.
