what is the "6 seconds" drop i keep hearing about? I know where most of the stunts are in the shed but I have no idea what / where this is. Could someone PM me and let me know? I would like to hit a trail day this year as well, as I try to get out to Delta to ride every once in awhile.
Long Live The Shed!!!
Ride the Drop Trail and you can't miss it. Uh, i mean don't ride the Drop Trail...uh...yeah;)
Actually, be carefull about the Drop Trail there's a spot in the middle that's dangerous and has turn to shit and is unavoidable, so I don't recommend riding it for many other reasons (environmental/ safety/ ripping apart the trail), stuff like that.

just wanted to let everyone know that the trail we worked on last sunday looks pretty good.i went down yesterday after work to check it out.it's perfect that it's not going to rain all week.i still think it will need a little more work in the near future.MORE IMPORTANTLY, does anyone know who went and f@%Ked up the teeter totters on bitch slapper?al was down there yesterday and he was rippin' through it and had to come to a halt because some asshole had ripped out and bent the brackets for the totters.in my opinion,it was NOT the parks board.i just hope it wasn't a fellow rider who was pissed that that fell off/couldn't do it ect.it could be some partying asshole punks or could be a SHED TRAIL NAZI.keep yer eyes and ears open for any info on who did it.if it is a trail nazi then please fellow shed heads, check all stunts/trannies before you do them.if it was the parks board i think they would of taken the whole thing down and not just the totters.the trail is still pretty hidden and not everybody knows where it is.later, bruiser d

Yeah consider it closed until further notice, I hope to have it back up and swiveling soon but the swivels are f**cked so I will have to make new ones :(
Also I have been working on that mud hole on the drop trail and its way better, Amazing what a little drainage will do. Tool I hope you don't mind but I stole a couple of those pieces of pvc for it.:D I think I have contoled the ground water problem and it just needs a little bit more rock and dirt. AWwwwww shitty. Plus now Mike (one of the builders of the trail stairway and major supplier of wood and brawn) wants to take down Stairway so we can at least salvage the wood.
HE heard from some arbritrary rider in the shed that talked to him at work that Stairway's coming down for sure (being torn down by parks board). I HAVE NO IDEA who the person was telling him this and where he got the information so I've been telling him just to leave the trail alone for now, and perhaps we can act when we have assurance on the matter.
I would like to salvage the wood from that trail to build future stuff, there's tons of good stuff like the massive posts we used!!
Anyways I have satuday off from work, and I am FO-SHO going for a ride in the shed.
My b-day's on tuesday and I'm gonna try and get one out of these three with my own money and one with my parents money (as their present)
1)front hydro disc brake (hayes)
2)sony mini-disc player (portable)
3)riding pants/shorts (real ones)
I'm really itching to start building stuff again in the shed, mainly dj's and hucks/gaps. Do you think it would be unwise to build dj's right now?? With the parks board and all??
Sorry for long post, I just got home from english 101 and i'm sick of school, and eager about biking!
rampage 01
02-05-2003, 07:56 PM
wait till like 2 weeks after they finish tearing there shit down..... than there obviously not gonna haul the wood out... we can use all that wood for base on djs through are trail, if we just do some minor clearing we could have a pimp trails for djs
I don't think it'd be wise to build anything right now until the meeting at city hall which is like Feb. 28th (maybe a day or 2 before or after that date)
As for more stuff getting torn down, i don't think that there's anything we can do about it till the meeting, if you wanna tear some stuff done to salvage wood, that might be a good idea or maybe that might be a waste of time, no one really knows at this point, i've heard different things from different people:???: The only thing we can get away with doing is fixing areas that still need drainage or a bit of rock work to fill in mud holes, like at the bottom of the DJ's above the Goats, stuff like that.
Hey Al, i heard that about a month or 2 ago, someone had taken one of the teeters out for some reason. I don't think there's a trail nazi like the one on the shore, it could be an angry biker with no brain or it could be an angry walker:???:
Honestly, we just have to be patient and hope that Gary and Brett make alot of progress at the meeting at City Hall
****One last thing, if anything is gonna get torn down still, my bet is the Pier's are #1 on that list, so instead of prematurely tearing down Stairway, just keep an eye out for the pier's. The reason why is cause they're right beside the access road, so those lazy city workers would start there:rolleyes:
For those that were at the trail day last sun, who was that guy that was kinda the take charge guy, especially on the first section that was all gravelled, he's fairly old about 6', he had a big, work pickup parked at the school?? Just curious, never seen or met the guy before

Well people the drop trail has been trashed. The little pier and some of the hits higher up have been wrecked. I am pretty positive this is NOT the work of the city but instead a "concerned local hiker " too much effort has been put in for it to be casual vandalism ie. stoned drunk teenagers or the like, but nothing has been taken away like if the city had done it. I hesitate to call him/her a trail Nazi as they have done nothing that could be considered to be deliberatley set up to hurt someone riding but I advise you all
CHECK EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU RIDE IT !!!
It seems this person does the damage during the day or after dark cuz the teeters on slapper were fine monday afternoon but gone tuesday and the drop trail was fine tuesday @ 4:30 and gone wednasday afternoon.
ps. simon I took that teeter out a couple months ago to fix it

SHIT.
And this is why some approval from council would be nice. Because then if the trails were approved, destroying them could be classified as vandalism. A petty misdemeaner, but a charge nontheless.
How badly has stuff been trashed? Is the pier's wood useless now? Could it simply be fixed by adding some supports and braces over the breaks now? How many and which hits were sacked and how badly?

As well as checking the stuff before you use it, keep an eye out for tacks and nails on the trails. That was a big problem on Mount Seymour for awhile. Not sure who it was, but it was deliberate. Saw it myself. Sucks that stuff like that happens at all!

The little pier will be easily rebuilt it just needs to be put back in place and a few of the supports and x pieces replaced etc. the other hits higher up just had the cross logs etc pulled out so that the lips are not secured and will crumble away when ridden. ... also easily fixed with a little work. the worst thing done was the teeters on bitch slapper, they are ruined and I will have to build new ones, the trouble is it may be a while before I get that done:(

Don't be rash..... the last thing we need is to come off as the bad guys in this.
Lets all remain calm, and friendly and polite to the walkers/ joggers etc in the park. remember most of them think we are nice kids just out having fun and even if they aren't on "our side" they are generally fine with the bikers and stunts and will think badly of anyone wreaking them. lets not piss off anyone , most of the people I talk to are all " wow this stuff is really cool" and think what we do is great.
I posted a bunch of signs in the park that say:
WARNING mountain bikers be advised that someone is vandalizing the built stunts in the park
- check everything before riding
- use caution
- BE POLITE TO THE OPTHER USERS cuz this is probably the work of a disgruntaled individual and does NOT reflect the attitude of all non riders
- Ride at your own risk
And signed it the shed bike club
Hopefully this will garner sympathy from the non-riders in the park and make us look like the good guys:)
This won't work if we start being assholes to the other people in the park

This person doesn't appear to be out to DELIBERATELY hurt anyone they are just wreaking stuff. hopefully it doesn't come to anything like this or worse wires across trails, or logs or rocks on trannies etc.

I wouldnt mind seeing that pic.. it sounded worse than a brkoen post/seat.
After more xrays, my wrist is fine, probably just sprained - the doc said about another week before some more xrays and then if its good i get some physio action. I wasnt thinking about riding at all, just meeting up w/ some peoples for some pix to take.
I'm still hopefull I can ride the indoor ns tho.. i may get an air brace for that and work depending on the verdict.
so overall, probably about another week or 2... the arm felt mucho better this morning tho :D

Also I'll have you know that my parents were legally married for 10 years before I was born so there is no way I could possibly be a "bastard" and I want you to understand that I am deeply hurt by your use of such a foul epiphet. You sir are an un-gentemanly cur and l am sorry to have ever made your aquaintance.:D
See ya sat, ya rotten bugger :P
I was in there today and i noticed that Paradise has been dismantilled, maybe i should re-phrase that, chain-sawed to hell, i don't think it was Jay or anybody else because all the rungs were even chopped in half, anybody know anything:???: Now at least there's lots of spare ceder lying there if Jay decides he's not gonna continue with it.
Hey Liam, why are you paying good money and needing an appointment to shave your head. I'll do it for 5 bucks;)
Also, someone built a stupid little ramp just at the entrance by the school, just in on the left trail. It's a good beginner ramp, but:
a) No new stunts right now
b) Not very durable or solid (some rungs are made with branches)
c) to noticable cause it's just off a main trail
My guess is it will be gone by the end of the weekend and i don't think it'll be the park taking it down, anybody remember the camaflouge stuff, that's what this reminds me of:rolleyes:

i'm out longer than expected:
I get home and check my msg's; there's my dr. on one. he received a phone call from the xray lab people about my wrist. the wrist actually did show a minute carpel bone fracture (at least i think thats what he said). so I most likely get a full cast for the wrist but considering mot of the remaining pain is eminating from my lower bicep, i'll demand some more x rays and maybe try for a prescription of the medical greenary :P
suffice to say i'm not happy about this considering i felt i could've been able to rock the indoor ns by next weekend and the fact my whole arm should've been x rayed from the get go

Who's David mike?? I can't go tomorrow because ARGHGHGHGH my left crank is bent (which isn't stopping me), and my right crank is stripped (which IS stopping me). I don't wanna ride on 'em cause i bought the fully sealed axiom roadgaps and i don't wanna fuck 'em over. SIMON, I need to get you the cranks this weekend if it's ok with you.
I've also decided on buying a used front hayes hydro for 200 including adaptor. I can't afford 290 bucks from rocky. Especially when the brake's got new pads and everything.
FUCK I SERIOUSLY WANT TO RIDE WITH THIS PRO WEATHER, BUT MY BIKE COMES FIRST! ARGHGH.
Fudge! Oh well tomorrow I get to go see "oldschool" with some buds, looks frickin' hilarious. Will Ferrel is god.

Oh Dear, I'm sorry I have to say this but, bruiser, ride 24/7, and grashopa have come to the conclusion that there is definitely a NAZI in the shed. Both piers have been torn down and just left in a pile,he's even sabotaged some of the drainage work, the 6 seconds drop has had the tranny pulled out, as well as some of the support beams on the ladder removed, Bitch Slapper as you all know, the gap drop to berm at the bottom of Bender has been sabotaged, the log at the take off has been removed. erggghhh freakin pissed. Check everything before you ride, sure glad we did today. It appears this person does their work during the day when we're all at work or school. Not good, Not good at all, If you see this person doing their dirty deeds refrain from beating him to bad, just scare the shit out of him.
:flame: :censored: :flame:
This is sooo frustrating, what the hell is up with people. I'm wondering if this is just one random trail natzi or if this is the slow lazy ass union ways of some of the parks workers. I can't right now, but if someone could email Brett at the shedbikeclub.com and ask him if he's heard anything from the city about workers still going in there. I'm really suprised that the step-down on Lower Bender was messed with too.
What the hell are we supposed to FUKIN do about this silly nonsense that could potentially seriously hurt someone. What does it have to take
Also if it's a trail natzi, then the person probably lives over by that side of the shed or parks by hwy 10

02-08-2003, 03:10 PM
Somebody really needs to find this person, before someone really gets hurt. Even the take off logs on Drop have been ripped out and thrown right on the trail. The signs warning about the possible damage have been ripped down as well.
Brett really needs to be notified so does the city:mad:

Sorry to hear all this shit about a trail nazi! Give him a good shitkickin for me if you find him!
Sorry I didn't make the ride today...I was more tired than I thought, and I had to leave the skatepark rather suddenly as I lost track of time. I had my bike with me, but I was wearing jeans and a sweatshirt, I hadn't eaten yet, and my hands were torn to shit (soft after no riding for so long, plus my gloves are worn out).
I'll make it out next time! Promise.
On the upside, I'm a shaved space monkey now!

02-10-2003, 09:04 AM
Hey guys, Someting was brought to my attention by a fellow rider on the weekend that I had never really considered and I though I would pass it on cuz it made sense.
he pointed out that all the crap lumber that gets packed into the shed and doesn't get used ( or get used for some pos ) and is left laying around is a eyesore and makes the area around some stunts look like a garbage dump. This is NOT the kind of image we should be portraying to the other users in the shed.
So I propose that if you see stuff like that while your riding make an effort to stash it out of sight . I also think it would be a good idea to get a bunch of people together for a couple hours to clean up some of the bigger uglier piles. Especially around stairway and all that crap that is below it. The camoflaged stuff .

For the Shore, it's OK to help someone out and tell them that Fromme is the one in the middle at the top of mtn hwy in north Van, because it's general public knowledge. Someone put mesh on lower simons and the long log on level 5. Whats up with that? it totally didn't need it:rolleyes: The only place that could use it imo is on the s curve ladder on level 5 and they missed that spot:rolleyes:
Oh well it will all be worn off in no time.
bruiser d
02-14-2003, 01:40 PM
yeah too much mesh on lower simon's.maybe the first part when you come off the ladder ,but doing the whole ride was overkill.just like al said ,they also did the last log on level 5 when i wished they would have done the s curve instead.i also think a litle on the first log on bm would be sweet[that muddy log sketches me out}if simon says{pun intended}does anyone know who has been laying down this mesh?:???:

simon the little rock work section on simons looks like typical "simon speciality "work. well done.also the new and improoved swivell teeters on bitch slapper are very saaweet.they are smoother and better than before.great job al{ride 24/7}for those of you don't know.the asshole trail nazi did us sort of a favour by wrecking the teeters:rolleyes: he's still a wanker with a bounty on his head:mad:

Hey Dave, i don't know why, but everybody i've talked to thinks that the first part of the log on Lower Simons is the spot they worry about. For me, getting to the teeter is the easy part, it's the skinned half that worries me. And whatever mesh is on there is coming off when i get a chance, sorry, but Simon Says:P Anyways, when i get a chance, i'm gonna finish skinning the second half of the log anyways, as for the bark section, i like it like that. As for BM, i'm still waiting to hear what happens at the city hall meetings before i do anymore, the main thing i want to finish is the rock work at the top, but if shit happens, i don't want that work to be done for nothing:rolleyes:
The thing that i would like to concentrate on are fixing and filling mud holes. I know that on the beginning of Simon's, right at the ladder, it wasn't bad compared to other spots in da shed, but after a bit of rain, it does turn into a bit of a soft spot, and all that muck ends up getting tracked onto the ladders and logs. When i'm done with Simon's it's gonna look like a brand new trail:D

Anyone interested in a bright and early ride sunday morning
My nephew is going to be here from Victoria and we are hitting up the shed in the morning (8:30 or 9:00) for a couple hours and the big show in the afternoon.

Shed was looking good today, good job Al on Bitch Slapper and 6seconds:D . All the trails are in awesome condition:D , holly mesh:eek:. Simon's looks good too, Tool.  for all the hard work keepin the trails rippin. Glad the Nazi hasn't struck again. and sorry ride24/7 can't make it tomorrow, maybe I'll see ya at the outdoorshow, I'll be there in the afternoon.
Mesh is evil. That's like riding with training wheels:rolleyes: I've got a better idea, everytime someone wants to ride a skinny, call me, and i'll come over and walk along the log while you ride and i'll spot you or hold your hand;) Honestly, some of the stuff in there doesn't need it. EX. Bender log
Nature is a beautiful thing, lets leave it alone.

Hey, Simon, I placed about 20 big rocks and a huge 300 rock pound by BM by that huge stump. It took me about an hour in total to get all the rocks but it took about a half hour to get the really big one off of its :censored: ing hole. But my Deutschland backgroung told me not to give up and I succeeded. You will need a sledge to break the big rock into smaller peices unless you need a really huge rock. Don't forget eye protection. :D
