and one to go. Got the crown and rotor bolt unsiezed for a 6pack at the Cove today. I'm quite happy about that. If the disc on the dremel holds up the reducer cups will be gone tomorrow as well hopefully. then I'll be back to rockin two bikes again... if i actually ride them anytime soon :P

I went to the Watershed a long time ago and I am wanting to go back again because I have a hockey tournament nearby. I remember an entrance by a school that was good. Could someone please hook me up with an address of the school or another good entrance.

hey everyone,

had a hellish first week back in VGH, and got the bone marrow transplant yesterday. Just like getting blood, very anti-climactic.

Now I spend 3 weeks in here being monitored closely and waiting for my counts to recover, before I can be released to complete the remaining 100 day monitor period which started yesterday from the out-patient clinic (stay at home drive to clinic).

Doctors have said that I'll probably be pretty tired and lazy for at least 6 months, but I'm hoping to be ok by sometime in June (good enough anyways)...

Just got this slow-ass laptop running so I'll be on fairly often as this room is boring.

Just an update :D

so its 8:10am on monday morning. I finished my first graveyard shift, went for a ride in the shed, and basically I was... you guessed it, owned because i'm a lazy sob and havent been on a bike in ... shit ..around 2 months I think. the two teeters bent me over large numerous time. I dont get why 3 was soo much easier than the 2. But, that little twisty section with the hips after lower simons is sweeeeeeeet. now I must cut them reducers cups off and get some freakin sleep.

And Paulie, nice work on fightin that!

Rida of RM7
03-28-2005, 10:55 AM
3 was easier than 2 because the 3 teeters were flat and shorter than the new ones! :D

I just started riding the shed a couple of weeks ago as i have been riding alot of park and DJ's lately and i forgot just how fun trails are!

Since then i've ridden the shed about 8 times and let me tell you, i am HOOKED on trails again:agree:

I remember when i first went their i couldn't ride any of the structures and now i can do quite well on most of them.

I think it's time to sell the tired old SS street/DJ bike and get a REAL trail bike.

Anyways, just sharin' my experience with the shed, it is a great place to learn and ride some great trails!
Thanks to everyone who helped restore the shed to what it is today, i'm gonna have to come one trailday and help out.

Once I realized I didn't have it, I re-traced my steps and didn't see it. Somebody must have picked it up. I rode from Pinewood along the upper trail to the last trail before you get to 64th. Down that, then over to Mr. Twister then over to the trail that paralels that. Then I realized it was missing and backtracked.

They were also discussing finances & plans for this year.

Anyone else there for the whole thing with more info?

Trails were in good shape, the rain yesterday made everything nice and tacky. It was so dry in there that the rain just drained away.

Some of the less used trails are starting to get grown over.

Hey Craig, I was there (red shirt and the bike).

One of the biggest problems is that most of the current exec members barely have any time for anything so the idea was to try and get some fresh faces out.

Starting the following week for a few weeks, I'm going to be mentouring some of the groms to get them up to speed with all of the trails and maintainance so they can learn the skills to work on stuff themselves properly, especially if we want to get a new trail on the go.

I'll have more info if anyone else is interested in learning the ropes for a few weeks, especially if you want some volunteer hours.

And yes, there will be a trail day on August 13th!

Alright, now Brett has been sending out e-mails letting everyone that is with the shed bike club that i have been doing some work in the shed the last couple of weeks and this week and that it would be great if anybody has any time, that they can come out.

The idea is that we want to ask Delta if we can build a new trail, the only thing is that all the people that know what they are doing don't have any time (babies and stuff) so we want to try and get some fresh faces out to maybe learn a thing or two. You can also get Brett to sign you off with volunteering hours

If anybody is interested give me a shout. Like i said i'll be in there this wed-friday from 8ish to 11ish somewhere along our trail. I'm also going to be in there today fixing up a ladder and going for a rip so come by and say hi!

Just to give you an idea of what we did last week, here is a before and after shot of the first goats jump:

It seems like alot of people are in the same boat, just email Brett at shedbikeclub@hotmail.com and let him know.

It would also help if the SBC website was up too!

Awsome, thanks Eric.

Also, could you post up that there is a trail day on Sunday August 13th meet @ 10am in the meadow. There will be a BBQ and prizes!

I also posted up a vid clip of someone hitting the jump in the Gallery section

If anybody wants to see the work that has been done so far, I've been keeping a fairly updated blog with what's been done. (Use Firefox if you have it cause Internet Explorer doesn't like it)
I have a whole bunch of before pics on the TSED 414a page other than that most of the stuff is on the home page. I'm getting UBC credit for this so i thought i'd keep pics of everything!

Yeah, the lip is a work in progress. It's packing up pretty good but it's hard to give it time to settle when all people want to do is ride it.

Remember everyone there is a trail day this Sunday 10am meet at the meadow. There will be a BBQ and prizes!!!

We had a good day, only 10 or so of us, including the kids. We fixed Goats' Drop, and Brett did some work lower down. BBQ, GC's to Rocky's and swag. Good day, and some good work done.

Thanks to all who work endlessly to keep the Shed going strong, you all know who you are!!!!!

Rode the shed today, haha you get so much speed if you nail the tranny of that table right, things are really dry in the there, i noticed the trails were getting eaten alive.

Now i dont mean to be nitpicky but that berm looks off, or more likely the dirt ramp. bad angle?. and whens the next shed day gunna be?

that new table nearly kicked my arse last week. It tossed me up a lot higher than I expected, and I came down heavy front. I worry that the jump is what gets us kicked out of the shed, as it's just too close to civililization. Some kid is going to huck off it and mess themselves up.

I love the table, but I'm not fond of it's location.
As for the rest of the build, great job.

When's the next build day?
I couldn't make the last one due to too many babies.

the jump is a great build with hard work but its not right ... kick is ok, looks good to me but the landing is ass less then a bike length and its to steep makes no sence ... plus its the first hit ... then u have to hit hard brakes to slow down for the 2nd one or u die. saying that the shed looks like it got great love looks good ... next day im there .. u could fix the first jump by taking out the log across the top of the tranny and lessen the steep tranny buy pushing it back a bit passed the log ... thats just me and i helped build and rebuild jumps on aline so i kinda know what im talking about .. can i have a go at it ?

I rode the shed last night, and I have to admit, that first TT is pretty wild. It took a few attempts, but once you're confident, it really chucks you. Funny thing is, after taking that TT, the rest of the jumps are nothing.

I'll be heading back tonight.
There's some unfinished business I need to take care of between me and a ladder bridge.

I hear you guys and yes the tranny needs more dirt on the bottom of it to make it longer and not as steep. I was thinking that as more people land the jump the more the dirt would travel down and draw out the landing more but that's not the case, instead it's packing, which is great but it needs more dirt because you are right, the landing is too steep.

As for location, there is no where else to build jumps like these unless we get a new trail. Ideally it would be nice to put a sign up. Actually even more ideal is that people ride within their capabilites and make that decision themselves but that'll never happen. If people are unsure they can go around the jump and still hit the rest of the line no prob.

I know i'm being defensive because I worked on it but everything is always a work in progress, and to really sound whiney, it's kind of funny to hear all of this when only 10 people show up to a trail day. yes we need more communication out there but give someone a shout either for a ride or to suggest ideas or to help.

For one i haven't tried it out yet and it's not supposed to be a full on wall, I wanted to have it straighten out and roll down so it can line people up for the hip.

Lastly, I got people wanting to make the lip steeper to give more pop

Hopefully I can get in there this coming week and add more dirt to the tranny. Ideally that log across will be covered up, that's why we framed the sides ontop of that log so the dirt can be packed up high
