Too anybody going into the shed. I've blocked off the top of BM cause i'm in the middle of fixing the top section, hopefully i finish it soon, but it would really help to have nobody ride it or walk down it cause it's eroding quickly, that's what i'm working. I've already rocked a bit of it:rocker: Please, i need more BIG rocks at the top, i go through them fast:rolleyes:

And the goats have been busy today too working on the Goats:D looks really good

BM is the new trail that i'm working on, and it stands for Bowel Movement. It's got a few different meanings that don't need to be shared on a public forum:| ;)

243_ht, i forgot about your drop, i wanted to go check it out and about the rocks, i've already used more than half of them and i still gotta a ways to go, next time you're there, take a look at the first section and you'll what i've done.

And the trail from the bottom of the Goats to the top of Stairways has turned into a creek and i have no clue how it can be fixed:rolleyes:

just a friendly warning to all shed heads that like to hit the super pier.very mucky and slipery on the approach to the pier.my bud washed out before the pier but slammed into the big log on the left about 20 ft before the pier.BE CAREFUL PEEPS.needs work to move the drainage off the approach.

yeah the bottom after the super pier is literally a creek.

If we lay some poles on the high side and back fill then put in some water bars like on goats we can get a dry path through but it will be a lot of work. It will need at least two water bars probably more cuz all the water runs off the bank on the high side.
I also have an idea to fix up the entrance to the super pier. Diverting the water away from the run in is not feasable but if we build a ladder bridge at ground level for about 20' so the water can run under it then be diverted to the left of the ramp. Also I think a little ramp over where the water runs to the left of the tranny so the xc guys dont ride through it and screw up the water channel would be a good idea. the very bottom is a nightmare and really needs to be fixed up so there is one solid line out , and one creek for the water.
I am going to try to get a shitload of 2x4s from work ( hopefully for free ) and maybe we can set up a day to pack them in and fix up the drop trail properly all the way from top to bottom. :thepimp:

please stay off of the drop trail during this time and season. its eroding enough as it is. We can not afford to lose this trail. I get pissed off as it is seeing people riding horses down there! I know that some of the people are going to be like "whatever dude, its not going to get that bad". But come on people , use your brain. If you are one of those people with a brain , and see someone one riding the drop trail, tell them the damage there causing. don't be mean about it just explain to them. there are lots of other trails in the shed to injoy! So help us help the shed.

Keep the shed alive!

Hay Jay, good to see you're still around, how ya been? We gotta meet-up for a ride sometime and i hear ya, but like you said, people are gonna ride it anyways and that's something that has to be accepted:rolleyes:

I think that the Drop Trail is something that has to be worked on and fixed up. It could be our "CBC'' poster trail for the city of Delta, to show them the extent of our awarness to the environmental impact of our sport. It's easy to ride a bike and it's fairly easy to throw together some stunts and jumps and call it a trail and don't get me wrong, the Drop Trail kicks ass and the work that's been done to it is amazing, even the original attempt to solve the drainage problem has been an improvement. One of the problems with that last trail day was it was hard to see it's impact cause it was done when the conditions were fairly dry. This is when the problems should be looked at because you can see exactly where the problem needs to be fixed.

My suggestion to the section above the Super Pier is to dig a trench, get a long peice of PVC tubing and lay it in then use a lot of rocks to fill it in then cover it with gold so as to have the creek run underground for the section through the fallen log. I've got some fairly large diameter peices stashed away but i'm not sure how long they are but i'm sure i can get more. I don't know but it's just a suggestion.

As for the bottom, the biggest problem is there is no particular line anymore, so that should be addressed. Also, alot of people after they do the Super Peir have a tendincy to slam on the brakes and try and stop right away not considering the fact that they are locking up there brakes and putting in brake bumps and ripping the ground up:mad: (otherwise known as Dave'n it (not you Bruiser)) That's my big problem with some trails in general and the way a lot of 'non-aware' riders ride them (that's my politeness coming through;) Anybody that's ridden a trail like Sexboy or Coiler up on Cypress 4 years ago and then noticed how it looked in the last couple since the Freeride fever has caught on will no what i'm talking about (sometimes i can come off as a bitter old man)

So ya, Drop Trail's in need of some work, because the people riding it is avoidable.

And remember kids, RIDE don't SLIDE

As for the Super Pier

i couldn't agree with you more simon.i like jay's idea of not riding it but there are too many peeps that will keep on riding the drop trail, so we all need to help out and figure out how/when to fix one of the sweetest trails in da shed.ps i knew you were not refering to me re"davein it" because you like me too much simon:D :D ;)

But you're right, its in North Delta but only by like a block.

Also, anyone hiked though whats right off scott rd by #10 in what'd be just east of the ravine in that corner by the lookout and the cliff-side trail? (sorry, way too descriptive). I was driving by the other day and thought there could be a few possibilites in there.

yeah i realize that...but i worked on it enough that way...it can be done but i'll basically hafto cut through that huge log and then build up the trail kinda sideways to the hill....thats reall the only way.

i made it in about an hour...just cause it looked like a nice natural drop to build. I'll look into seeing howi can make it a better run up.

Tool
01-08-2003, 09:56 PM
I got an idea on how to hit the drop but it might take some work. By the way, the drop looks sweet. Also i runged up a bit of the steep logride on BM and that's how i'm gonna leave it for now, you still have to ride the groove on the left but with the new rungs it makes it really easy to line it up:D Gotta still keep it a bit challanging. As for DJ's, particularly the one that 243_ht has started on, it's kinda mushy now but i think it needs a couple of weeks to settle, just everytime you're in there keep packing it and eventually it should get better, the problem is it's hard to find good dirt. Oh, and try not to dig dirt in front of the lip, if you do it won't dry out till the summer.

Anybody up for a ride on sunday:???: I'm not sure what a good time is, but if anybody's interested, speak:P

243_ht

I might be up for a ride on sunday...can't be sure yet i prolly wont tell you til sat night or sun morning...but the dj i just do a little bit more dirt on it. but its really just the combination of too wet and not great dirt that is making the dj so impossible to build.

you know where tools trail comes out?? Then you go into the meadow well when your coming out of tools trail and just go to the meadow and its on the left side, its fairly close to the gravel trail that everyone uses. The best way to get to it is to go fromt he gravity bowl and head in the direction of the drop.

ok its prolly like 6 feet...but for some reason when i built it it looks alot bigger...especially from the top...so i don't know. but basically theres a downhill run up that isn't all thta long which leads to a drop with prolly like a 15 foot long tranny with nice run out. And the diving board looks crazy too, i don't know about the roll into it, it looks fine now but after people keep doing it's gonna get sketchy. Looks fun though, just gotta hit it at a controled speed if not you'll miss the tranny

I wanna get back in there and build, it's sooo much fun:D I'm almost enjoying it more than riding. I can't wait for the trail too be finished, i think i still gotta lot of work to do, the damn rock work takes forever, got the very top section done today though, just gotta still finish the berm at the top and just above it, then at lease it will be fully ridable.

Anybody notice that the last jump on your way from the school to the Goats trail is blocked off because of a fallen tree from the wind storm, i got one of them out of the way but there's still another one so be carefull

They're Raceface NS DH Splined. As for "helpin you out" I just meant I could lend them to you for a ride. I have 2 bikes so I dont really need both cranks on both bikes, know what i'm saying

Anyone interested in helping me out next saturday. I want to get a bunch of peeps together for a drop trail overhaul. Right now it is totally f**ked between the hit high on the right and the pier trannies:(
I am going to try and get a bunch of 2x4s from work to use as edging for raising the trail a little and water bars etc. I think I have a reasonably good plan for fixing the water/erosion problem. I will require a sh*tload of shovel work but it will be worth it cuz I think we could make it ridable even when its really wet. :D I'm not sure if I will have the lumber for it or not so I will post later and let you all know if its a go. I have been doing a little work at the bottom to try and fix some of the water problems but it's slow going:rolleyes:

I'm down like a dirty clown. Since there's the chance for danger, a few safety meetings could be required 8) Simon l and I were talkin about it today when we was in. An option was to run a few pallets over the small creak thats developed and run some O pipe underneath them and also shore up the sides of the pallets. I was thinking of starting the pallets at the tranny where you started diggin dirt from. Just an option.

Let me know if you need any pallets since I'm going back to work this week. I think I have the same plan as you but using pallets instead of a sh*tload of dirt and as a support for the line you made so far in case of erosion.

But i'm in. Nice work on bitchslapper too.. and 6 seconds if you did that one... NIIIIICE.

Bruiser had mechanical problems but will be out sunday afternoon:D

That landing your talking about has ground water seeping up through it and making it totall spooge. I was looking at it the other day and scratching my head on how to fix it . Thats why I was talking about raising the trail a little there. Its gonna be a bitch to fix that section up:???:

Tool
01-12-2003, 11:11 AM
That's probably the toughest section we're gonna have to deal with because it's so narrow there and cause of the gap in the old fallen log that everthing feeds into to. I think we need lots of BIG rocks, the more rocks we use the better the water can seep through and not pool up somewhere else. Maybe we should put up a "put rocks here" sign on the side just if anybody's riding by can help

Tell Dave i forgive him;)

So what do we need to bring exactly? Bike and shovel? or... just tools?

If we need pallets, I have about 8 regulars ones and one bigger pallet at work right now, more come in on a regular basis. Most of them are also decent wood, good for rungs and etc.

Hey Jay, where do you and your buddies get all your 'gold' from, especially on the Goats trail, you guys use it everywhere, but i can't seem to find the source, not so i can use it but so i get a better idea of the kinda ground it's coming from

And i am definatly a Shed Head. I've been spending more time lately with the shed than my GF

I'm actually not the guy to talk to. I'm sure Rider 24/7 would be that guy. He'll probably be on tommorrow. I don't know what the plan is on sat, whether it's building or riding i'm there for sure.

Hey Al, if you see this, put up a new thread telling everyone and everybody else, stay close to hopefully find some answers.

I'm gonna be in there for sure at around 10 or so, so if people wanna build and we have some good numbers then lets build, cause with the Drop Trail it's all or nothing.

For the sake of being official then:

Saturday, Jan. 18th- Shed-Drop Trail Day.

I will be in at 10, so people just show up around 10-11 at the Drop Trail.

Bring:
-shovel
-buckets
-wheel barrel
-rake
-maddock/ pick axe
-and gloves and water (to drink:P )

Hows that sound??

All right peeps here's the scoop. I will be at the drop trail from around 9:00 am till probably about 2:00 pm or so. The plan is to repair and rebuild the drop trail, concentrating on the worst section above the piers. We need shovels, buckets, strong backs, hammers and nails and saws. I have at my own expence ( cheap ) gotten a couple dozen 2x4s from work to use as needed. I will be parking @ #10 hwy and will need help packing them in.

So who is willing to sacrifice 1 saturday ride for the betterment of the drop trail.

I SAY " DOWN WITH MUD... UP WITH BIKES" :scream: Waaaay up if your going fast enough :D  :D

If we need pallets, I have about 8 regulars ones and one bigger pallet at work right now, more come in on a regular basis. Most of them are also decent wood, good for rungs and etc.

If you want to bring down some of the pallets that would be cool. The super pier need some boards replaced and the more building material the better. If we have the wood a bridge across the ditch to the road would be nice but thats a luxury not a nessesity . The mud and water problems need to be adressed first.

I'm in! I'll bring loads of pallets either for a bridge or extra 2x4's and meet you at the gate by #10 hopefully on time @ 9 as I'll need a hand with the pallets. I'll also grab a few shovels, saws and I can donate an old wheel barrow to the shed if its still around.

Hey Dave and Al, you guys should get your thoughts in sync. The last thing we want is both you guys thinking the other guys bringing the beer, then we're left with nothing:D

If you're gonna be in there at 9am i'll try and get in there earlier (i gotta work till 1 friday night, so i'll see.

I'll be in there tommorrow for and hour or so and i'll start getting some big rocks and bring my tools and some PVC piping over. Does anybody have a PICK AXE!!! That might be the most important thing.

Hey Al, do we need nails??
And Axx, what's going on in richmond on Sat??

And we can't just shut the Drop Trail down. People are still gonna ride it and hikers and horses are still gonna walk up and down. And why build new stuff when other stuff needs lovin
