Any shed heads plan on racing the CBC race this weekend?

Dave? Al? Hopper of the Grass?

details (http://www.nsmbfc.com/schedule.asp?page=downhill)

I'm 50 50 basically. I'll decide by thursday so if any people from Surrey need a ride, I got room for one bike, and one rider.

and it was fun just to be out again. So far I'm liking whats been done to Simons and Goats has some sweet ingenuity to it. Other than that I just rode around, looked at stuff and tried to gauge some cardio out of the ride. I was also pretty stoked to have the Evil up and running again so overall it was a good quick ride.

Also ran into a father and son riding aroung the Goat jumps and goats, we talked for a bit and he mentioned how its nice to have the Shed Bike Club looking after the trails in the shed so people can ride :rocker:

I'd love to go for the rematch and try to redeem my poor poor showing at the ripper but I'm in currently packing/moving and not only that but I sprained my ankle last friday and it's still hurting:( I'm not sure if I'll even be able to ride with it this weekend... maybe a casual shed cruise.

A little update'age on Goats - or soon to be known as the Shed Trail as named by Rick Daykin (sp?) of Delta Parks.

Ran into Jimmy, Chris and Geoff working on a step up to a landing which will eventually go through the tree's to a roll down to a second step up back onto the old log ride to the stump drop :thepimp: The first step up is just after the log to wall ride. It looks pretty damn good.

goats sounds wicked.... How far along is all this new stuff?

aShogunNamedMarcus
08-13-2004, 04:02 PM
You can ride Goats until the turn down/wall ride off the first log. So its coming along - some rain to pack down the dirt would be sweet though. I believe we're going under the impression that if this could be the last time to legally build in the shed, it might as well be good!

Simons is ridable as well.

Rhubes
08-13-2004, 05:03 PM
aaaaaaaaalright.... giggidy..

I'm having some trouble coming up with ideas for what type of trail Stairway should be...

The log is still there, and completely usable and not movable, so there's probably going to be some sort of logride initially, but after that I have no idea...

ReCkLeSs RiDeR
08-13-2004, 05:19 PM
I am not in charge, so I have no say but I think it would be neat to have a little coaster ontop of the logride. like 8-10 inches wide and have like three little humps instead of the teeter totters. then into a drop to a wooden tranny to wood bridge-low. to wooden kicker onto wooden step up ladder so it was all connected together. with no dirt.
but I'm not sure how high or how hard stunts are allowed to be or anything like that.

none of that proboaly makes any sense to anyone else but me either:)

Rhubes
08-14-2004, 05:13 PM
Something similar to that might be done on the log, I'm not sure..

We'd like to do a step-up to bridge to drop type thing afterwards, but I don't know..

Went for a shed ride by myself today, and I have to say NEATO.

Goats trail is almost completely finished and is looking RAD.

I cleaned the whole first log (and you have to drop that little log seperation thing, NOT ROLL IT (it's more fun!)) but then I pussied out on the wallride/roll down thing at the end which is really neat..

As soon as I see someone do it, I'M THERE..

Then the little step up to the rest of the log ride is neat too, don't know if speed will be sufficient though..

They sure put a lot of work into re-working their f-bomed up log rides though! PROPS GOATS CREW!

I cleaned ss again (both ways) even though it was slippery, and I can't wait until the skinny afterwards is completed.

Now what to do with my patch o' land where Stairway used to be??

What gnar gnar can I put there?

Jigsaw
09-02-2004, 07:59 PM
What time were you in there Rhubes? I didn't see you. Anytime you want to ride, let me know.

The wallride/roll on goats is sweet and so much fun. Easy when it's dry, but quite a challenge when it's wet.

As for Stairway..........? I don't know, it was so good before, but something new would be good too. Needs to be some sort of drop at the end though.

Rhubes
09-02-2004, 09:18 PM
^ I went in around 1:30 or 2 I think..

Are you going to school come next week? If so, where?

And what did you guys hit? (you and al?) besides goats?

Yeah I definitely want more drops in the shed.. There is going to be a shit load of radical technical stuff, but I want more jumps/drops to balance it out!

Jigsaw
09-02-2004, 09:58 PM
I was just in there on my own. Hit all the main trails. Goats, SS, Gravity Bowl, Mr. Twister and the one beside it. Stareted to get no footers over the goats gaps too, which was cool. I was just leaving around 2 I guess.

I'm going to UBC starting next week. So, I won't be riding a lot, but hopefully atleast once a week.

If you know the trail well, remember that we should probably use the first log where the tripple teeters were...

I'd like this to be a trail with a drop or jump of some sort..

I have some ideas, but I need more..

I have some cool ideas... they would require a lot of work but would be seriously fun. We should hook up for a ride one day and go have a look and talk about it.

yeah that bit of sod in the middle is just to kinda turn that jump into more of a table instead of having the pit of death. Would've been nice to not use sod but when we have the trail day that will all be done with and fixed up properly:D

Went to Grouse this Sunday, sept7, I rode up pretty fast and my legs were killing. It was my first time getting up there this year and the weather was perfect. I rode Upper Oil Can and ladies, i couldn't do much on UOC since I haven't been riding much at all but ladies was nice. It's good to get out to the shore again.

Building season is about to start and Stairway is calling. I'll be taking 3 courses this fall so i hope to get at least one day/week in the shed to build. If any shed heads wana help that would be cool.

When is the trail day? I know it's this coming weekend but i wana know the details.

were interested in any ideas.. I've been thinking of some too..

Depending on how stable that old dead stump is (it might not have to be) at the end of the first log (where you'd normally curve right through the trees), MAYBE we could build a bridge to scale the height of that log (i'd say 5 feet off the ground) and then a bit higher, to a drop, and then with that speed, either have a jump or step up to another bridge..

If we wanted to save ground space we could just have a roll-down to get the same speed..

ALL while having a similar section as before going to the right (and being the less challenging route)...

I'm not positive what to do afterwards though, where the huge upramp and small drop was before...

Might as well post up the ideas, or pm I dont' care, I don't think it needs to be a secret..

something similar to the pimp coaster would be cool on Stairway but with its own flavour, like coaster to step up to teeter drop.

Went for a ride in the shed today around 3-3:30...

Good ride overall, finally did the fan rolldown/wallride thing at the end of the first part of goats a couple of times..

I didn't attempt the newly completed step up which begins the rest of the goats trail and ends in the drop ..

I will wait until I see someone do it, because I think it's gonna require quite a bit of speed or some decent hopping to clear the gap..

I checked out Stairway, and I can safely say there's a lot of potential for that trail with like 3 possible gnarly lines, but as of now I have no idea what exactly should be built..

Gonna take a lot of talking and idea sorting, and then a lot of work..

By the way how'd Jaru's and The Flying Moose's ride go today?

The "up" part of the skinny line will potenially be a step upish type thing onto the other half of the log. With enough speed ( pedaling on the log on the other side ) you should have enough speed to use the up ramp as a step up or even a hip to the tranny comming off the log. At least that's the idea. You wil also be able to just roll up and over if you want to.

I'm also planning a low easy practice line on the log the first zig zag line goes onto... past the zig zag... just an easy up ramp and down ramp... that log is right on the ground and would be great for the noobs to practice on. All i need is to get in there with the chain saw and make rungs galore and i'll be stylin' :D

another week of afternoon shift and no riding and it should all be done.

Hey Al i finished nailing the berm and i brought a couple of boulders over to fill in below the rungs but i didn't get a chance to put em in. yeah that berm looks sweeet. I can't wait to try the whole thing. It's crazy cause it looks like even if you don't get alot of speed/air it will still be easy to hit, it's just to hit it big will mean somthing to build up too:D

And who came up with the logo? I was trying to come up with somthing and got absolutely nothing, the logo on that poster kicks ass:thepimp:

It's the sme down ramp off the log from the step up it'sw just that simon added a :thepimp: bit of extra bermage to catch the front wheel :D Too hard to explain, go look.

The SBC logo is on the posters for the trail day... I like it.. simple but cool.

I'm heading in there in a little while to do some work, maybe i'll take the camera and post up a couple pics.

shut itttt...

I went today, saw the goats...

Cleaned the completed SS (didn't get any air on the berm, but I got up and down it!)..

and did goats a couple times..(Minus the step up)..

I saw jimmy and brett and aaron and someone else I don't know his name (they're the goats for those of you who don't know)..

They're planning on making one BIG goat jump, and one smaller one..

The big one's looking to be pretty darn big (like maybe 4 feet high range?) so definitely dirt-jump material!

I'm stoked!

WHO'S IN FOR SURE???

Let's get a final tally..

All of my loser friends aren't coming (including rampage) for their own lazy reasons...

How is the harder part on SS? Do you think that it's possible to air it out??? or it the speed just too impossible to get it???

Honestly...

I think it's gonna be very hard to air it out...

the up-ramp for the hip is steep and long, which kills most of the speed attained by the smaller down ramp..

One would need to get some extra speed before he/she even rolls the downramp...

I found that my f/r shocks compressed a bit when I hit the ground after the roll in, leaving me with little opportunity to position myself for the air..

I sort of barely got up both times..

But i'm not a great rider, so I don't know..

So as I said before extra speed before even rolling in (in front of the berm ramp) would be a major asset..

just take your ht in if you still have it. I can't wait until I can get a new pair of shocks for mine.:)

I managed to get up and roll through it a couple times today ... I think it's going to take a large commitment factor from back at the top of skinny up ramp... it's going to be clean the skinny and then hammer a couple hard pedal strokes on the log and down ramp to pick up much needed speed... and pump through the dip into the up ramp. I think it will be doable but not easily. I'll need a dry day and a good ride going to really go for it.

exactly... it's not going to be something you can air every time you try (unless you get really good!).....

I REALLY WANNA GO TODAY, IT'S NOT RAINING AND I WANNA HIT THE NEW SHIT!!

SOMEBODY COME WITH!!

P.s. WHat bike should I take? The bighit, and not be able to do the goats step-up, or the minuteman and try and do everything! (but i'm a little rusty on it)

is it ok to wear a full face with a ht or is that major dork?

aShogunNamedMarcus

take the minuteman... or the big hit..

take the full face if you plan to rock some stuff or just take the reg lid and taker easy.

take the ht..well I proboaly would for the shed if I were you, nothing in there really calls for something like your big hit IMO.

Checked out the new improved goat jumps and I declare GOODNESS. They flow together really well and feel great. I'm thinking rear whell tire taps on the stump at the last hit will be something to aim for in the future. It all looks great as well. To all the guys who workred on the drainage at the end of the jumps:beer:   that whole section looks totally:thepimp:

I'm liking what is happening in the old shed and thats for sure.

Now all i gotta do is heal up the back muscles... 45 min in the shed and I'm hurtin' big time again. :( I think I'm going to be taking it easy for 3 or 4 weeks to heal up properly:mad: :(
