That shouldn't matter at all. But I just found out today that he's still not going to go.

So cheap, doesn't wanna shell out 15 bucks, and he says "I don't care that much".

What a douche.

I'll be there by myself! After I cook steaks for my mom's b-day!

I want to build a large launch-ramp so bad... But I'm concerned as to how to make it large enough for a sweet SMOOTH take off!

I think it needs to be like at least 10 feet long.. and plywood is so expensive!!

if it has horizontal drop outs you can just put a ss hub on and tension the chain like a bmx. If it has vertical drop outs the easiest way is to put on a good quality chain guide and use it to take up the slack in the chain.

Bump this back to the first page.

Any of you guys know of any good riding urban areas in the Delta area. I figured I'd ask here since most of you live in Delta. I'm not looking for "street" stuff, more like drops, stairgaps, dirt jumps, wallrides, etc. If you don't want to post it on the board, let me know and will ride sometimes. Always looking for people to ride with after school.

Strawberry Hill has a few this little double step down thing. Its off 122 south of the library. Its the road to the parking lot off 122 heading towards home depot. You'll see 2 planters running along either side and you can jump one to the road and then to the second. Just be careful of cars and the bushes.

Other than thats, Deltas pretty flat. There's also Kings Cross on the Surrey side. There's a few little stair drops and what not.

Me and a friend (posts rarely as Gaffer) are screwing around with some jumps at the Peat Moss Plant...

There's so much potential if someone had time and money, and the land didn't belong to someone..

But it's still fun to build lots of single jumps as the only place to build a dirt jump pack would be on cement :(

If anyone wants to come and help that'd be fun, we'll let you know if anything decent gets built!

I was down there today walking the dog. I would be interested in doing a little diggin'... now that my dog is too old and slow for shed rips it would be cool to be able to go down there and session some jumps while she just sniffs around and does dog stuff. :D

You're right about there being a ton of potential, I was picturing some cool lines that could be built... hips, drops, dj's... it could be fun. All it needs is a whole lot of shovel work.

I just thought of an AWESOME idea...

I have a friend (2 actually) who has condo in whistler (his parents do)!!!

They rent it at peak season for $200/night... It might be less now, but I'm not sure, so let's say it's going to be $200.

My friend assured me that we could fit a shitload of people in there, as there's 3 bedrooms, a side room with a cot, and like 3 pullout couches! (plus lots of floor space, which is all I need)...

If we could get a bunch of guys together (i'm thinking like 10!)... For a long weekend, or even a whole 5 day week (during july or august) That'd be the cats pyjamas, and it wouldn't be very expensive!

That'd be the cats pyjamas and the bees knees!

Anybody know if there are group rates for lift tickets? Or like a discounted price if you buy 3 or more days worth??

I'D REALLY LIKE TO HEAR OPINIONS ON THIS GUYS!!!

EVEN JUST FOR 1 LONG WEEKEND WOULD BE SO WORTH IT!

Let me know! (email me if you want: mrkennyrogers@hotmail.com (or add me to msn messenger)

rhubers - email Brett from the Shed Bike Club, he might be able to gather some people together. As it is, i'm going up there almost on a weekend basis.

I can take a truck full of bikes but just one person. Unless its a rider or riders of female persuasion cuz then I got the buffer zone while driving.

Alright. I'll have to talk to my friend some more (who's parents have the place)...

It'd be almost more likely to get a long weekend thing organized than a whole week (too many work conflictions)...

I wouldn't be able to do a week long thing until august, as I'm on probation right now at my new work :(

i was there a month ago. it was fun and sad at the same time. seeing all the destruction and how ugly it looks now is stupid.

we did hit stairway and the trail beside it as well as the drop trail.

I looked at some of those the other day actually. They be looking good. I'm thinking I might buff one or 2 up. And the same with lower bender and 20-20.

Maybe we should have a ride and mini trail day - just to take account of the trails.

i have a question! what is the situation, i heard re building is a go, by one of the cops!

Tool
06-22-2004, 12:23 AM
Well, it's a little more complicated than that.

Brett has got the final proposal approved by the parks and recs commision, now he has to pitch it to council, but as he sees it getting passed the parks and rec was the hard part.

Now, there are a few things in the proposal that looks kinda of ghey, but i thing in terms of having stuff in writing, it has to be for liability blah blah blah.

There will be stuff like having to have permits to ride stunts, not being allowed to move any dirt from the ground, stuff like that. Criteria for how building will take place and so on, but most of this like i said is just language written in.

The permit thing sounds like it will be mandatory for all riders but will be hard to police and all it is is signing a wavior which the people policing will have on them so no biggy, except minors must have a guardian sign :S

All of this is still in limbo because like i said, council still has to approve.

As for building, people aren't allowed, i'm suprised that a cop told you but as of now the word is lines can be made ridable again (leave that up to a couple of the main builder people), but as far as i'm concerned, it'll be better to wait till the ok has officially been given and then a trail day will be organized and hopefully we get the shed back on track.

I went to the shed today with gaffer, and uh I was disgusted.

There's nothing at all there anymore!

The Goat's Jumps = Big Tree fell right over the gap of the first one.

The G-Bowl = Extremely rutted-out on both sides making it challenging to even roll it ( i washed out at the top!).

And then all the stunt's are gone too...

I can't wait until we can fix our home again.....

Dave, any news you hear from brett, please keep us updated ( like you have been)!

And now the G-bowl is more "technical":P

Rhubes
06-27-2004, 02:59 PM
There's not really anything rideable in lower bender...

The one step down is so unbelievably sketch cause you have to bank turn as soon as you land and weave in between two trees with a decent amount of speed...

After that there's about a 10-15 foot gap with about a 2.5 foot tranny and no run out as well...

Speed + no runouts = sketch IMO..

Tool
06-27-2004, 11:41 PM
that step down is a piece of cake, i know the berm makes people sketch but if you use it to your advantage it's nothing. You actually have more time than you think before going into that berm is you need to speed check. You should keep going down and see what else is down there:eek: BIG AND SCARY ask brett;)

Well I've seen a couple of dually options I'm really interested in, but I keep thinking to myself the bike could just wind up sitting in my garage an awful lot, cause I wouldn't get to whistler as often as I would like, nor the shore, and the shed's not up yet, probably not for a couple months at least....

The bullits are a great bike. Besides minor brake jack, its solid - light, fast, either single crown or dual crown. Can climb.

As for size, I find for general shore n dh runs, even urbans, a smaller size is good for me which is why I ride a small over a medium. For yourself Rhubes, I would be inclinded to get a medium. If you go to Rok's, he'll probably try to get you on a large as he's specializes in that shit or something. Also, just go to Caps South Shore or Bike Zone - hate to dis a shop but Rok's is going downhill fast IMO.

If you're in no big rush, just wait for 05's to come out and then the 04's will drop a little in price. Also, look into the Devinci bikes - uber nice :thepimp:

yes. the BB7 is a very nice bike. if you shuttle and just point it down its great. if you do any uphill pedalling apparently its not so good. not from experience but just what i heard when i was looking for a fully.

that bighit deal simon has suggested sounds good. plus you will have a few bucks to do any upgrades IF neccessary.

Yep same old avy. I might take it along depending if I just bought a frame that was the same eye to eye. Its 50 50 if I'd keep it right now.

Here's a heads up from Brett:

Hi everyone and sorry it's been so long since the last update, but I've been very busy!!! Things have been going really well and trail construction has begun slowly. Please read the following points and feel free to send me any questions, concerns etc.

- We are a registered non-profit society

- We are canvassing for donations and can supply tax deductible reciepts for donations over $20.00. Contact Brett @ 604-940-0643 or @ shedbikeclub@hotmail.com for details.

- We have reached a Memorandum of Understanding ( M.O.U ) with Delta Council, we had a very favourable response from all councillors in a 6-1 vote in our favour ( Mayor Jackson being the only one in opposition )

- The M.O.U. includes the building of one trail ( 1km in length ), that will have built trail features to help aid erosion, as well as challenge the rider. We have a one year trial period with this trail to see how we can manage it's use, as well as how it meshes in with other user groups etc. At the end of one year we plan to apply for a second trail !!

- We are still able to ride anywhere in the park, ( except please give the Boy Scout's and there camp plenty of space during there activities )

-The new trail, The Shed Trail, will include Simons, Goat jumps, Goat Trail, Stairway, Lower Simons, as well as B.M. There will be ride arounds or easier lines allowing everyone to enjoy the trail, as well, there will be log rides, jumps and new features to challenge even the best riders !!!

- The M.O.U. has some very tight building rules and environmental practices that must be followed, any trail feature that is not passed through the Parks and Rec. Dept as well as the Shed Bike Club, will be removed ASAP. ( whether it is on The Shed Trail or not ) Your co-operation with this is essential as any unapproved features are only giving our group a bad reputation.

- Myself and several other executives who are familiar with the arrangement will be doing some work on the trail immediatley. If you wish to help, we can always use rocks of varying sizes , piled by the signs showing trail under construction.

- We are an I.M.B.A. affiliated club and are purchasing an insurance policy through there member services. The insurance policy isn't cheap but it is quite reasonable considering the coverage The Shed Bike Club as well as the Corporation of Delta will recieve.

- Club memberships will be set @ $10.00 for adults, $7.50 kids under 16, $20.00 per family ( max 8 people ) and will be valid from Sept 1st for a full 12 months. Revenue recieved helps to reduce insurance costs as well as purchase materials and to begin getting a proper web site set up.

- FREE MEMBERSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE TO ANY ONE WHO COMES OUT AND VOLUNTEERS AT ONE OF OUR TRAIL DAYS !!!!! We only require you to help put back into the trails that you will be riding and enjoying, not to mention the warm fuzzy feeling you get from doing volunteer trail work!! Membership the first year will be limited so sign up at the first trail day !!!!!

-The first official Shed Bike Club trail day will be in early September and I will do an e-mail notification, we will also post signs in the Shed as well as on the Bulletin boards @ NSMB.com

-We are now allowed to park our cars in the Pinewood Elementary School parking lot. Part of the M.O.U. is to have a minimal impact on the residents living around the Shed. So please respect the speed limit in the Sunshine Woods area ( 30kmh ), also please don't have your stereo's blaring as you gear up. Show respect to the residents in the area as they will have a say on whether or not we will be able to continue with our trail network.

- Please show respect and YEILD TO ALL OTHER USERS, in the park. We should try and keep our speed down to 5kmh on the gravel paths.

Thanks to everyone for there support and I look forward to seeing everyone enjoying the trails in the very near future.

Brett Armstrong

Fuggin' awesome news!!

I'm a little unclear about the restrictions on the types of stunts we can put on the trails though..

'Cause I really don't want the shed to turn into the "north shore" section of those South Surrey dirt jumps (inside the woods there), cause that's pretty lame..

I can 'pile rocks' to help out, but I'd sure like to do more.

When do we ride? Shore? Whistler?

hey Paul, no need to worry about the shed turning into the south surrey bike park. It's cool what they got going on but at the shed they've allowed us to build stuff that is going to be challenging. On of the differences will be instead of really high skinnies, they will just come down a bit, so again, challenging but smaller consiquences.

thanks...

I think I'm probably going to Whistler on Saturday or Sunday..

I have to make sure I can ride skinnies, this trampampoline of a bike might throw off my balance!

Good to hear it won't be another surrey bike park....

I'm all for technical stuff, but is there anyway we'll be allowed to build any jumps/drops?? I know that might be pushing it for the time being, but I just was wondering if we DO have any real boundaries/limits for what we can build (other than high skinnes)...

I guess a high drop would fall into the "high up" category and therefore not be allowed...

What about jumps though?

Tool
07-28-2004, 03:29 PM
Brett was saying that the biggest drop we can build is 7ft which is pretty good. The way the drops will work is they'll be like the ones on Schleyer and most or all of the jumps will be tables.

Shed was fun today! Saw Al (rider24/7), and chit-chatted for a bit.

After sessioning the small/ripped up goats jumps, which were still alright (first time on the big bike), we headed over to simon says which is almost totally rebuilt!

I was suprised i was able to clean the straight line first time trying, and the weave line after half a dozen...

Then we headed over to drop trail and I got a tiny feel for what single track is like on a big bike, FUN. You can launch off of any roots, and feel nothing all while keeping your speed!!

Lots to do on drop trail still, but we were too hot to hit it more than once.

Can't wait until there's more stuff built in there, but it's worth it to go even now!

Can't wait for whistler! Maybe saturday or sunday!

sounds great paul.

I ran into 2 of your buddies today trying to build on the goats trail (fuck i forget their names, i think trever and sumthing else:S

I had to set them straight on the whole situation. I noticed some new work has been done on the goats and it looks great, can't wait to see how that 150 degree down ramp turns out.

I'm gonna head in tommorrow around noon for a rip/build if anyone wants to join, i'll check back in the morn

Not my buddies!!! Never heard of 'em..

But I think Al saw them today too and gave 'em shit, and me and blake saw 'em leaving!!

Look like punk kids! DAMN GROMS!! I have no affiliation with them whatsoever..

The only people that I ride/rode/built with is Mike (Mike_Shore_Rath), Blake (rides a red super 8, on nsmb by name of Gaffer), craig (blakes lil' bro that doesn't ride anymore and isn't on the board, but rides a black/red p3) and erik (rampage_01) who doesn't really ride anymore and rides a rampage..

The only people that'll be building with me/you would be me, Blake, and Mike..

Craig might come to the trail day..maybe rampage too (erik)..

Good work on simon says Simon, it's really fun.. Are you gonna add some more to it?

Garbanzo holds some really fun single track!

Unfortunately I lost a piece of my qr20 off my '03 super T, and had to go to the bikeshop to replace it (60 bucks!)...

And my chainguide is fuked so the last runs were all done with no chain...

Still major fun, so beautiful, and the happiest place on earth :)

Didn't see al though!

New bike is tits. except for the chainguide :)

Paul don't jump to conclusions. Many very helpfull and kind ppl helped me and they are considered my friends cuz most ppl just said hi, nice work and left most of the time. These ppl even offered to help and that very rare.

They just need to be told to take their time when they build something and build it right. ;)

So why didn't you come over and say Hi? I was 75% sure it was you until I saw the older cherry red vps... I though you had a new a line. So i waited to see if you would come over but you never did :( Were you rippin it on the mountain saturday? I never saw you, but i spent most of the time up the garbanzo!

Two words " GARBANZO ROCKS " the only complaint is you have to hit expressway to get back to the Garbanzo chair. I bet I was hitting 70-80 km on expressway:eek: Still what a fun day.

Oh and A-line was thrashed, pot holes , stutter bumps, and uglyness.:( The dirt merchant was still sweet though:D

^ yeah, a-line was rough... I liked Garbanzo though, but I still wouldn't do it all day, cause i have to mix up the techy single-track with the fast flow of a-line or dirt merchant..

You need more than one day to hit everything you want! I didn't get to schleyer or clown shoes or anything!

Wow! Things are starting to look good in there again.

Simon Says (if that's still what it's called) is really nice. Nothing too hard, but still a decent challenge for all riders. The skinny line seemed easier than it used to be though. I remember never being able to keep my tires on through that section, but I cleared it fairly easily today.

Goats gaps are nice, and Goats looks like it is coming along nicely. It looks like there will be three lines, is that right?

Anyways, to whoever it is exactly that has taken the time to build, a big thanks to you :D

could anybody tell me why my rear hub makes a knocking sound when the wheel is spinning? it seems to happen once per revolution and happens while im pedaling and also while im coasting. there is no play in the hub when secured to my frame. could it have something to do with the quick realease being super tight? (im running horiz dropouts). i have to go in to the shop tomorrow to get my wheel dished anyways but if anyone could give me an idea of what the problem is that would be great :)

nope they eventually they will be tables and as big or bigger than before, as for simons it's not finished... plans are in the works for a line to the left of the easy ladder up onto the log down into the dip where the easy line goes out and stepping up on to the other half of the cut log and down to the old tranny roll out. In my weakened condition I picked up the virus my brother and sister had for more than a week each, and now I'm almost done with it..

Fever's subsided so I'm on the mend. It'll still be a couple days 'till i'm better though...

sleeping is HELL when it's this warm, and you're ALWAYS Sweating, and the fever likes to pop random thoughts into your head like mad..
