It's funny how you get caught up in a rut sometimes with stuff. Since the snow line has dropped I've been hitting the shed alot and I always go the same way and hit all the stunts in the same order. It gets kinda stale. Anyway I went in there today with my xc bike and just flew around all the singletrack, I didn't hit a single stunt or jump. It was fun. Totally different. I forget sometimes how cool it is to just rip it up on the smooth singletrack... and the shed has some fun singletrack that almost no one ever rides anymore. Not that I'm planning on selling the big bike or anything but it sure was fun for a change.:D

Sunday will be a better day for a long ride for me... how about some snow biking on the shore:eek:

If you keep going down lower bender past the turn off to the frankendrop there is another step down then a booter the launches you up and off the bank to a down hill tranny. Minimum 8 x 8 bigger with speed. And you don't see the tranny till you're airborn:eek: Not to mention the run out isn't exactly wide.
I might be riding saturday afternoon but I will definately be riding somewhere sunday. I would kinda like to hit the shore but it depends on how much snow hiking it will be to get up.

Was in the shed in sunday.. its in good shape.. didnt see anyone i knew tho.
Gots a question about the top of the river jump trail by the scout house - is that natural erosion or did someone try to dig up a small water way to lead to the ditch? I think it needs some work I might be able to get in there on sunday for some work.. will also try to get some mini maintenance on the main trail between the bowl and stairway.. its gettin fugly again.
but more importantly, whose up for a ride to maybe the woodlot on sat? I got a truck now so I can load a few bikes in.. shed heads only tho ;)
believe it or not it was natural:eek: the drain at the cubscouts thing was plugged during that first huge rainstorm, pretty crazy eh!
That main access road was fuct too but the city regraded it

thats actually pretty believable. we had almost 10 inches of water collecting outside our loading bay at work.. it was a slope tho.
any recommended methods for that section? I was thinkin of rocking it up a bit with a water bar type thing.
yeah i dont' know, it's pretty fugly
i think the creek/trench needs to be deepend in some spots so the water doesn't spill over when it gets high and maybe some water bars, some of those things that are on Neds would be perfect

I have started working on the drop trail. Yes it is time to rebuild it:D It is my intention to have a big hit line and a xc line.
I have torn up the old run in to the super pier, re-routed the water and fixed up the xc trail on the left. I am planning on putting back up a pier style launcher sort of between where the old piers were. It will be around a 12-15 foot gap. bigger than the small pier, smaller than the big pier. It will be going in over top of the crappy dirt booter that was started and never finished. In case anyone cares the launch will end right around where the spindly little tree is.
I have removed one of the small drops that was down the middle... if you liked it don't worry and don't put it back up I will be putting it back up as soon as possible in a slightly different spot so the water problems can be dealt with...and boy is there a lot of them.
It will be a lot of work and an ongoing project and some of the water bars and ditches are going to be adjusted as things dry out and the trail takes shape. All I can say is that I do have a master plan in mind and it will rock when completed... please bear with me. Also if anyone wants to help let me know. It was in pretty good shape on sunday. A few puddles where you would expect them but really dryer and less muddy that I thought it would be.
P.S. thanks for all the offers of help, I'm going to see how much I get done this week and see if I'm going to need to get help for a weekend day.

Well boys and girls... and bruiser of course:fruit: I have been spending a shit load of hours on the drop trail and I must say it is shaping up nicely.
The really muddy sections have been fixed and the xc and big hit lines are takings shape.
The hip on the left side ( 3rd hit ) has been re built and should be cool. I haven't hit it yet so if anyone does let me now how it feels. You might want to look at it first as it is quite different than before and if you land wrong your heading for the mud and/or a stump;)
At the top of the trail after the first drop and you come around the big tree I am building a burm ( and I've removed the crappy drop that was above it ), you will see where, if you feel like helping pack a few rocks.
Anyway if any of you get in there for a rip take a look and tell me what you think so far. There is still a lot of work to be done to get it totally:thepimp: but the worst is pretty much done. When everything else is :thepimp: I'll be putting in the pier:D  :D

Well I'm not sure if the parks peeps would really be O.K. with another pier going up;) But as simon says the trail was already there and they didn't tear it down the nazi did.:D I do know that Brett talked to some of the parks people about rebuilding the trail...I'm not sure what the vedict was... but the only thing that will really be new from the way it's been for the last year will be the new pier. All the other hits were all still there, they just needed fixing up ( although I do have an idea for another step up and drop after the pier at the bottom ). If getting rid of a whole bunch of mud and erotion problems is a bad thing then the parks people are all idiots.:P
I'm going in there this morning for a short rip so I;ll be trying out the new hip:D I'll let you all know how it is.
yeah, i like the idea of a step-up at the bottom, it would get people to ride the whole trail and not just slam on the brakes after hitting the pier and leaving big brake bumps:rolleyes:

I like step ups :)
Maybe have the option for both again - a nice sized pier and off the to right of the old peir, there could be the step up to the 'ridge line' for lack of a better description - its the line that goes-to-the-nose-in-to-the-ditch-on-the-road. That'd hopefully take some traffic away from the landing zone of the pier.
And then maybe we could have a road gap from the nose in - just build a little booter instead of the nose in :D thats risky tho.. imagine a parks guy driving down the road seein a bike fly over him.. probably wouldnt go over to well.. but still, it'd be :thepimp:

Yeah... follow the paved gravel path from the school south and east. You should come to another gravel one that heads left, up to an entrance dealy. There is a right just before the entrance, take it. You'll head down that big rock thing, and at the bottom there is a log that you go left around, well, turn right and head along the log... bender.
At least that's what my brain says to me.
I know my way around the Shed quite well, aswell as most of the trails but what is "Level 5"?
that is the trail that starts on the right, just before that lil ride down into bender, it actually comes out ride at the first stunt on bender. (level 5 ends with a logride) It's a nice little bit of trail if you can handle it, it's very tight, i can't wait to try it with the new modified bits:D

Thats the trail that starts with a 2x4 for about 8 feet onto a log, then a litle gap and a rock in front of a big log. I thought that was the beginning to Bender.

The tiny skinny in is still there, and the log after it ( although plans are to fix it up) the skinny between the rock and the s turn ladder is now replaced with a hip gap using the rock as a take off that drops down into the low area and steps back up to a new wide ladder to the downhill log to the tight 90 degree turn to the last log... if that makes sense  the origional gap and burm are still in place.

he wants to build a pier[not out of pallets] in between where the small and the big piers were.the size will be inbetween the old small one and the newer big one with a "schleyer" type catcher on it in case you don't clear it.should be sweet.
the scheyler thing is a good idea:D
no worries Dave, the ride was sweet though, lots of snow and the :thepimp: coaster:D

the super pier is no longer... it was a 18'+/- gap jump on the drop trail. ( the gully near highway 10 ) it was torn down by a trail nazi quite a while ago but the whole trail was messed up so it got ignored fpr a while. I have recently been fixing it up and am planning to put in another big step down gap/jump. Roughly 12-14' but with a catcher ramp in case you come up short. For chickens like me:rolleyes: it will be roll able all the way for people who don't want to jump it.

well considering it was slushing in delta last night it was probably snowing a blizzard up on the shore so I'll be shedding it I guess. I think me and Dave will be heading in around noon.

You could get away with it. I rode my hardtail up there .. only once but it also had shivers on it for a small point in time.
If you're smooth and can carry speed on large doubles and tables, go for it. And if you cant, hit it anyways :D
All you'd really need is a day sessioning A line and you'd have a good idea of all the lines. But thats almost a waste of a day up there.. dont forget Dirt Merchant.
