rule 2: think before you post
rule 3: if the shed thread is on the second page, you can make a useless post to save it.
rule 4: keep things biking related so, this thread dosnt get deleted!
rule 5: the shed thread must never die!

ooooooooo Axx's scary.......seriously......doing something to the G-bowl would make it cool...........like a big kicker at the end or something
Trying to finda time to go to the FOX warehouse maybe wed or fri, if i can't i might be heading to the shed for a ride on wednesday if anybody's going for a ride in there before it gets dark.
And honestly, before we start building big kickers in the G-bowl, that sloshy mud hole at the bottom needs to be taken care of:rolleyes:

Yeah its pretty sketchy especially on wet days. Altho in the summer it wouldn't be a problem maybe we should get some sort of a drain in there.

Yeah I'm in Grade 11. Are you the guy with like shoulder length hair and that wears a black long sleeve shirt that says Spoke in orange on the arm? So I guess you would know Mike S (i won't post his last name on the board). He rides a 2001 Shore, or atleast he did when I talked to him last year. I rode with him on the Burnsview Mountain bike team (it was okay:rolleyes: ). I've only seen him once at ND and that was when I was in class. I'm just curious how many bikers do you know at ND? I never really thought there was any?
Anyways we should go for a ride sometime! You can introduce me to the other riders you know! I ride at the Shed quite a bit and do a little bit of urban (although Delta isn't exactly famous for urban:rolleyes:). I haven't really met many of the Delta riders, so it would be good to find some people that want to bike regularly!

yeah. mike schorath. were good friends with him. no i'm not the guy with shoulder length hair, that's blake. he's the gaffer on nsmb but he doesn't post much. it's basically just me, blake, mike, and you who ride now. Me, blake and mike built the trail stairway, and me and mike (mostly mike) have been working on the extension.
I ride a .243 with juniors, mike still rides his shore with '02 monsters, and blake rides a 2001 sasquatch, but he's trying to sell it.
what's ur name? I think I might know who you are. Especially if you went to burnsview.
I was at the shed for about 2 hrs, i didn't get much done though(it doesn't seem like it:rolleyes: ) Fixed the take off and a couple other spots. I didn't get a chance to work on the top section and i thing the berm at the bottom is important too. I think we gotta find some better dirt for the tranny. I think the other stuff was fools gold:P
I had to bring my bow saw in with me and the funny thing is i rode all of Stairway clean on the first try while holding the saw. Why can't it be that easy all the time.
And nice work on the jump 243_ht, it's coming along. It's crazy how time consuming building stuff is.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And why the skate park, i'm scared of 14 year old skaters that think they own the place even though it's my taxes that help pay for it
hey, simon, is there anything you want me to do one your trail tommorow? like repack the tranny and maybe not use fools gold  . oh ya, the skaters dont care anymore cause me and dangerboy have taken over... and keefer comes sometimes... we call are selves the danger duo, so i think you should try using your tax money and having some fun on it lol im using tax money to say sk8 park

Well there are 15/14 year old bikers that will be there......namely me and axx......we'll merely befriend them then slowly take them down one by one......kinda like survival of the fittest.......newayz.....park is fun.....the possiblilities are endless and it close by...and you won't get dirty

i get things for cost.. so it varys. i heard you got your bike built up by them
I need BIG rocks up at the top of either the trail or the coaster. Most of the tools are either where they usually are or under where we left the bucket. Some gold would be ideal, look for old growth cedar stumps and dig there, just don't start a landslide:P We're also gonna probably need more BIG rocks for the berm at the bottom. Just go nuts, you know what needs to be done and how to do it (i hope j/k;) I think the main thing are BIG rocks
ya ill put danger boy on the rocks :p: and ill do the digging lol
BIG:eek: rocks. Even look for some more BIG logs to use for the berm at the end
ok, ill be on the look out!

This thread is sooooo weird. :S
I gotta "Mountain Biking in BC book for my Birthday today (lastnight) and i was dissapointed they didn't mention the watershed, they had UBC endowment lands and SFU but no shed:( In the UBC section they had a pic of ol man Pete doing the first ladder roll-down on Upper Oilcan.
And Ian, if you could find some fallen cedar trees for the supports for the down ramp that's going on the end. Something solid in diameter. I know there's a few fallen trees up the creek in the gulley that feeds into where the end of BM (where we were getting rocks from) if you go further up there's some (bring the bow saw with you and remember no live trees but you already knew that:D

yeah i wasted alota time on that dj...i was going to make it a table but then i decided to do gap. OH well...it'll need another hour or 2 of work atleast .
Stay with the gaps, especially since we might not have the dirt resources to put tables throught there. As long as there are gonna be small ones too it's all good. It would be cool if the Delta city council could step in and give us a hand with a little DJ track somewhere in there. With places like Myrtle and the richmond bike park being supported by the citys it could happen
I forgot all about the shovel and the Axe:lol:
And for boxing day, have the ride either early in the morning or late in the afternoon or hopefully i can just look for you all in there

Yea......the Dirt is not good though......and it's right by a creek so the jumps will be pretty wet almost 24/7.....you should use the shore building method (Boulder, gravel, dirt)...that should keep it from eroding.......me and axx built a really dandy make shift berm so you come from after tool's trail and you rail the jump......yea make it a gap.......the dirt required to make a table can almost make another gap.......but it seems to be making good progress........let me and axx build it......:D if it wasn't for the city we would already be sessionign a big 16 pack right now
Where does the creek go when it gets to the little meadow??
It might be a good idea to make little ditches along the jumps, that way the water can drain and it gives us axcess to more dirt.
I think we used most of the big boulders already:P
And did you guys work on a berm for after the drop? cause it really needs one, a nice big one. Also, i got some PVC piping just incase to help out the drainage, especially in the berm. I'll try and get in there and take it over, it's hiding somewhere near Simon Says right now
I found a nice little spot for a nice little hip jump on the side of one of the gravel paths(the one that goes from the school to Bender), something that you can hit but won't be noticable at all.

I was there on Sunday around 11am (It's been 18 months since I've been).
Ran into 243_HT and 'roy' (old joshua FS w/ mrT). You guys have done an amazing job creating some sweet little trails. The wood was a little wet and the gravity bowl was slow but that trail in the ravine next to 6 seconds was sweeeeet. That big gap was setup perfect. The drop at the end of 6 seconds is a lot of fun. I hope to get there at least every other week now that snow will be covering the hills.

Gotta start winterizing some of the trails [/B][/QUOTE]
What can I do to help?
If you see a spot where there's alot of big puddles forming, the least that someone could do is spend 5-10minutes and just look for some big rocks and start a pile so they can be used to fill them. Another thing is fixing or replacing broken rungs. Work on areas where there are erosion problems because when it's wet it will erode faster. Fix trannies. Block lines where braiding occures. Drainage work. Skin the top of logrides (just the ones that have already been skinned, just to clean them up) One of the things that we'll have to see is how well the Drop trail will drain, because that was one its main problems last year, especially near the bottom, plus how there isn't one main line at the bottom. Lots of stuff to be done.

Long thread....I contribute.
haha, the shed owns:thepimp: its been at the top latly, its getting more popular
That's cause we keep whoring it:rolleyes:
And the creek will freeze over if the temperature goes down below zero degrees:rolleyes: :P
DangerBoy
12-24-2002, 02:16 AM
it probably will.........the creek is a good source of gravel........fill up holes pretty nicely
You don't wanna mess with the creek that much. I might help define the creek abit in behind the berm at the end of the drop, cause right now it just kinda runs where ever (when the rain continues the creek will start to flow more) Beside the coaster at the top there's alot of gravel that'd be good, just have to carry it down in buckets.

It will freeze but not permanentyl....prolly not for very long at all. WE do live in vancouver after all. The step up you were talkin about tool maybe should be built of wood? You know with rungs and some curved wood. Cause that would be alot easier to maintain and it seems like a good place to use that kinda thing. I was going to go in today and finish the one dj atleast but i'm goin to the urban ride instead.

And 243_ht i think the curved wood is getting pretty scarce, dirt should work. We'll have to see next time we're in there
243_ht
12-24-2002, 05:00 PM
yeah i guess your right. It would just be cool thats all.
I hear ya, we'll see what we can do, the reason why i say stay with dirt is cause there's already a natural step-up that just needs a bit of work.

I'd love to go for a ride, as soon as I can...... I'd also love to be a part of any dj's/dj park that's being built. We've (my crew-age) has been searching for some good spots.
We'd like to make the bases of the dj's out of wood, as it would be a lot easier since their isn't TONS of fresh dirt to use, and we wanna make 'em big!
I'll talk more later and more often!

Got more done on BM, the rock work onto the ladder at the top is done, we'll see how the rain lets the dirt settle, still need to fill in the berm and rock the top, but as of now there's nothing obstructing the trail so if you get a chance, give er a rip. And a hint for the steep logride, follow the groove on the left then when you get to the cut out section just let the brakes go and you'll have no probs, i'm gonna rung it all eventually. I need some more BIG:eek: rocks still, so if anybody gets a chance, if you good maybe spend 5 minutes and and find a couple and pile them a the trail head with the other ones:D thanks

yeh , we fixed up that tranny on goats, its better now i think... it still could be better though..... we were doing it at like 10 30 when it was pitch black hhaha:???:
It's definatly better than before (pre-worked on and temperaraly worked on) It's still a bit short, it might be better to take some dirt out lower in case you get some speed of it. I usually just pull-up slowly at the last second, but i know i lot of people that kinda pedal kick off the end that land pretty low down, so making the tranny rollout more would be nice. I love how soft it is though:D
Who worked on the hip (the goats) looks like their work same with on Bender.
Tommorrow would be fun to ride the shed with all the new snow:cool:

lol simon U missed me Noseing the goats drop compleatly haha but still riding it out LOL grashopa saw haha it was funny I had no speed but still felt smooth
That would've been funny (as long as you didn't get hurt lol)
was this earlier in the ride before i got there or after i left.
You should've seen Keefer nose it off the drop on my new trail (BM) and slam head first into the tranny:eek: Luckly he was fine:)
Lately i've avoiding the Goats trail, but since the work has been done it's worth riding it again. I always liked the long log ride, but the tranny on the end is too short and i've snapped my BB 3times on it. (gotta work on getting smoother:o

Hey 243_ht (sorry i forgot your name:o ) That DJ needs some better dirt on top, try and look for some gold or some gravely dirt form near the top of the trail. That stuff on there right now is too mucky and soft. I tried to hit it but it sucked me up. I gotta find some of that good dirt for the drop tranny too cause right now it's a bit too soft.
Axx or 243_ht or anybody that goes by the top of my new trail, if you could please take a couple minutes and find a couple of BIG:eek: rocks and leave them with the other ones at the top that would be much appreciated:D

Hey 243_ht, what's this drop that you speak of:???: Also, try and build the jump up abit a have it so it's really smooth so we can add a few more and make a 6 or 8 pack
And if you guys go inthere and you see areas that need puddles filled in and fixed, take a few minutes and look for some big rocks to help, or do some rock work to make this winter riding a little less muckier. It's looks like the Drop Trail's starting to get a bit soupy=/

alrite i'm gonna hafto do so much rock work on the dj...i came and its just puddle's everywhere. BUt i built the drop today. Its not to do with the dj's altho it enters into the meadow where the dj's will be. when you come off your trail you go into the meadow and keep riding a little ways its on the left. Its pretty obvious. Its prolly only about 6-7 feet but from the top it looks taller than the gravity bowl and other drops. The tranny is still a little soft but i think its hittable. I didn't do it today cause i was so tired from building alot. BUt next time i should try it. I also may need to support it more cause its like the crator at the bottom of fromme. which isn't really a drop any more.

CAme back a few hours ago
Complete mud hole.
Trails are ok....found a lot of new stuff(again):)
I wouldnt go on the drop trail right now though. Lots of dead fall everywhere from the storm i guess:rolleyes:....but i cleared most of it out. Also tons of mud everywhere and a stream running right into both piers.

Oh ya and if you are gonna go on the trail try to look at it first.
A few boards and rocks and twigs and what not can ruin your run down. It did today:(

See, this is some of the stuff that's gonna halfta be fixed. If ya think it's muddy now, give it another month:rolleyes: I think first thing should be to fix the drainage on the drop trail, it's definatly better than last year with the help of the trail day, but it still needs some work. Fu@#$n work and school, i wanna go in there and tidy it up:mad: If anybody can fix anything up you people will be gods in the minds of many:woot: :coo:
