Too many ideas...not enough time ....or nails;) but I was thinking about flattening out that first log again and then maybe a swivel teeter onto the second, I also had an idea of going back and forth between those two logs side by side. Or maybe combining the two plans :???: :???: :???: And of course fixing up the teeter to the last log.

I'll be getting in there whenever I get a chance... it depends on work etc.

What are your ideas??? Can you explain them here?

Tool
10-23-2003, 07:36 PM
i was thinking about the switching back and forth too., also at the beginning having a small kicker kick you up about 3ft onto a ladder about 12ft long that turns onto the the log then yeah.

ReCkLeSs RiDeR

10-23-2003, 08:15 PM
yeah ,the ladders in the middle should be bermed and the skinny before the teeter could be made with that piece of flattened cedar lying beside. But the step up is totally doable and would be cool

alright, now i built a little tranny on the last jump before the goats trail. Now, i keep overshooting it, but that's fine cause that would make the landing the same as it's always been, flat, rooty/rocky. But now it flows better and feels smoother.

The reason why the tranny is a bit back is for people that might get caught by suprise.

I hope nobody has a problem with it but i think it was time for a bit of a tranny on that jump.

It would even be nice if some new dirt was added to the other jumps, especially on the tranny's to smooth the line out.

Oh well, so just a heads up if you're riding those jumps. It's by no means scary.

Simon I was in the shed today looking at Simon says . I fixed the teeter to
the last log and started working on the first part. The back and forth between the logs looks like it will work great. I was laying out some pieces and figuring out how it will flow. I'm going to make another swivel teeter mechanism at work this week, if we don't use it there I'll put it somewhere else. I like the idea of the step up... you're talking about stepping up onto a ladder before the first log and then onto the log from there??? Try to get that picture emailed to me so I can get a better idea off whet you mean. Also do you have any mornings free this week... I'm working afternoons and it would be great if we could get together at the shed for brainstorming session and maybe a ride.

there are the jumps between Simon SAys and the Goats trail right?

IT's the last jump, the one that previously had no landing, just flat onto roots/rocks and into that swampy wet creek kinda spot just before the entrance to the Goats.

And what's up with lower Bender, i did it last weekend and it was the same as usual:???:

Between the end of Upper Bender and the step down gap someone built up the little hit in the middle into a gap and improved the little burm.

The builder of Stairway built that, and your opinion of it matches the opinion of everybody else on this thread. Too bad the builder or shall I say "builder supreme" as he likes to be referred as, can't figure that out.

Werd on the pointless and wrongo on the still there. It's sweet now but you need pedal a little harder over the top cuz it's not as steep to the end now. I used to just hit the top and coast into it and have perfect speed to nail the tranny, now you have to give a hard pedal stroke on the downward side to get enough speed. Or i guess you could bunny off the end for more distance. Much nicer now anyway.

Tool
11-04-2003, 05:48 PM
yeah, you really need to try and make the tranny now and the tranny needs to be fixed before anybody but Adam and Mike can think of hitting the gap:o

Yeah lower Bender is better now that it's been fixed up, there's always been that natural step-down at the bottom, it's good to see that it's now hittable:D

What's up with all this saying Stairway is shit. I haven't been riding for 2 months because i'm drowning in homework. Are you positive that the beautiful kicker that I built by hauling logs out of the ravine is gone? If the tranny is in need a fixing up plz take 15 min and fix it because I probably won't have anytime to fix or build even if I really want to. :( The gap jump after the drop arcs you up perfectly for the tranny, Al was there and even saw me hit it. ;)

Mike_Shore_rath
11-06-2003, 04:16 PM
I'm so confused. I thought you said that gap jump was gone. Well i get it now. You must have had a 4' long crow bar to take off the kicker. Because i put 12" spikes along the sides so you couldn't cut it or a hack saw to cut the nails. The kickers made the gap jump really hard to hit therefore it was more of a challenge. It's good to hear that someone is putting the effort to build.

There's an orange bucket on the right side of the drop. Stand on the drop and look carefully to the right, it's on the ground somewhere. If you stand on the gap jump tranny and face the opposite direction of the drop there's a shovel about 15 steps forward.

mike i knew you built stairway and the kicker on the end of the drop dude.what i said ,if you had read it correctly ,is that i don't know who had made the drop the way it was before.i think you get better speed into the gap after the drop now.

I totally misinterpreted what you said earlier. I hope that the supports that hold the whole structure up aren't supporting a tons of weight since all these add-ons have been done. Pretty soon it'll need more suports. :D

The change better not be something that was built in an hour either or it'll be put back to the way it was tommorow. Well until tommorow.

just got back from the shed and someone(s) has/have chopped down two small cedar trees right in the middle of the trail taht leads into the djs above the Goats:mad: and they also destroyed all of the frame work on the gaps too:mad:  Whoever the fuck did this is doomed to a life of hell if me or bruiser or anybody else finds them. Not a good idea. Apparently some kids built a shitty, poorly build jump around there and of course it got torn down because a) it was built like shit. b) they dug a hole in the middle of the trail for their dirt:rolleyes: c)because we aren't aloud to build new shit, especially if it's shit

so my guess is that's who did. Whoever these punks were might have seriously fuct things over for all mtn bikers that ride the shed

On another note, even though the frames were ripped out, the jumps are still very stable and awsome except for the first. The lip was completely fuct, but i fixed it up and it actually feels alot better than the old one, the only thing is you need a hell offa lot more speed, cause the gap is now bigger:D

PUNKS:mad: :fu:

I went to the shed today and i put bolts on the 3rd teeter. Didn't have much time cause it's pitch black at 4:45. The add-on which makes the drop easier is shit. When I get time i'll take it out and put it back to the way it was. I even made the kicker more gradual so it's easier. The goat jumps are messed up like Simon said in the above post. I wish i had more time.

kicker:???:
So you mean back the way it was the first time, or back the way it was with the jump? It's fine the way it is IMO, it's just the tranny needs more lovin:P

And like i said above, the jumps actually flow alot nicer now that the old lip is off of the first jump. It just means that you need alot more speed and the gap is a bit bigger:)

I still can't believe those dumbasses that chopped those trees across the trail. It was funny though cause walkers would walk by and comment on the nice aroma

on Sunday I saw the two punks who built the crap jump at the beginning to goat gaps. One had a blk and wht enycee bomber jacket and the other had a BMX. They were about 15-16 and loading their shit in to a White Vanby the Pine wood elementary school. The frames for the goat gaps were there. When I left the shed i rode out that way by the school and they were finishing their crap kicker. I knew something wasn't right but I've only been to the shed 4 times so im still figuring out the politics of the trails. sorry, I Whould have kicked some ass if I had known.

thanks onegear, we're all pretty sure those are the punks that did the damage, i guess they were pissed that their shit (literally) got torn down.

Hey Onegear, any other info on these shits, like bike brands what kind of van, anything?

Anybody see anything?

Thanks, Simon

The only info that i got to add from the above thread id it was a white fullsize chevy or dodge van, pretty sure chevy 80 style. Probably tinted windows. The one bmx was black. they were there at 11:00am when I got to the shed they were building and they were still there at about 2:00pm when i finished and went back to the school. Then they packed up and left when i was loading up to go home. Not to generalize but they were looking full on shifty punks, very clean and wearing expensive street wear for building trail, IMO. They must have had there tools in their van. cause when I hit the gaps on the way in and then again on the way out the only had a shovel no buckets or saws. but they had alot of cut wood bot times I saw them. Hopefully more people will remember these punks and have more info there were a fair # of people there on sun
Hope this helps

were the trees that were cut, the little kick just as you come off the trail, on to the run-in to the gaps?

at the beginning of the trail right where it splits off from the gravel path and the other one just where the dj trail splits from where the trail that Simon Says feeds onto.

I'll have to cut the rungs to the right length and a few spaces'll need to be filled with more rungs. Other wise it's fine. I don't have the time to take it all out.

Maybe we or I should make the goat jumps like the stairway gap jumps.

Give input.

WTF!!!!!!:flame: :flame: i went for a ride on saturday pm with grashopa and the goat gaps were fine and there was no new jump off to the side.then went in again on sunday pm and all of a sudden there is this new kicker wi th no tranny and held together with WIRE and screws.WTF WTF. then i noticed the f'in holes that were dug right on the side of the trail and the fact they were trying to cut out the log that lies across the trail before ya hit the goat gaps.[to give them a smoother line into there new jump}stupid fucks didn't even make a tranny and were landing flat and skidding like a bunch of dumb fucks.they built the hit across a xc trail that everyone uses like joggers, hickers, horses, ect.so i with with some help from a bud proceeded to destroy this piece of shit into oblivion.then we smoothed out the dirt and tried to fill in the holes as best as we could [no tools]now you are telling me simon that they came back after that and saw there jump destroyed and then proceeded to fuck up the goat gaps:fu:  :flame: :dead: i am really pissed and if you are reading this dumb fucks that did this.........look at my avatar...thats me and i sugest you stay the fuck outta the shed if you want to grow old.also mike ...what wrong with the way the stairway drop is built.just leave it the way it is dude.if it nots solid enough then make it more solid but don't put the lip back on.it's way smoother the way it is.let's just fix up the tranny.
