skate park is right by nordel... right by george mackie library, id recommend going later though when theres not so many ppl there, i skate there quite a bit now, and most skaters are fags and will try and make you leave ( lipping you off, throwing shit at you, hitting you etc.) its not a friendly environment at all for bikers. Bear creek skate park is pretty damn good for bikes though, and isn't that far away

yeh, no kidding... ever since i started up skating again, ive noticed a HUGE attitude problem with them, like bikers just seem more friendly and accept "noobs" but like, i go to the park, and it just disgusts me how ppl get treated, some kid said he would truck fuck me (hit me with his skate board) when i was there a few days ago, i laughed at his face and put him on his ass) but yeh, its like two different ends of the friendly spectrum

On sturday i had a descent ride with a bud. Ran into to Bruiser, the bike looks awesome. I rode Bender, ACA and my triple teeter despite wearing casts on both arms. That just tells you how easy those trails are with the exception of the teeters :eek: . I got the casts removed today and the doc says i shouldn't ride for a week so that gives me enough time till saturday when I'll defenitely be going riding on Grouse with a bud from colledge and maybe Paul and Blake if they're still up to it. When you're on Stairway be aware that there is a huge wasps nest on the ground close to the 2 broken teeters. I'll hopefully have the teeters restored by the following saturday from now using bolts and such. Mike :cool:

yay just got back from the shed whatan awsome ride :)
too bad i only went for an hour and i was lost for the first 15 min ahah i went the opposite way of goats and that trail withthe gaps, and i went all the way down, so i had to climb back up , then i found thetrail with the 2 gaps and went down to goats and i found these 3 guys who showed me where the gap trailthing was. w/e it was short but fun

im going to try to go agian tomorrow too :)

well went to fromme for the first time with gaffer and mike...

I'm sure not used to all that uphillness!!! but it was still pretty fun although i thought lower ladies to be a little excessive in technicality (with a li'l hard tail), though ladies only was pretty good and I got better at single track....

I really would've liked to have done some of the slightly easier stuff on airsupply though and anywhere else that included gaps, jumps, and more log rides/stunts.......

So next time I go I definitely wanna push myself a little more and only do single track for a bit (mostly gaps/jumps/drops/hucks/logrides)..........

I still really wanna go back and will gladly chip in for gas if any shed head groups are goin' in the future!!

Sounds like a sweet ride you had. Fromme is fun if your not scared of the climb. Great place to ride with a huge variety of obsticles. Air supply is definately fun, and the skinnies on it are sweet too.

the 15 or so footer gap jump over the road is narly and I'm sure I wouldn't have done it that day even if I had tons of motivation, but it's something that I want to be able to do (it's super ht do-able I saw a pinner guy with a morphine and dj1's do it smooth) really soon....

Paul, don't beleive that those gaps are easy, give them some respect because I didn't and then I had a broken frame and 2 broken arms because of it. Both of us need to first be able to ride all the way up to Upper Oil can in 45 min before you're ready for those gaps. Even when I was able to ride up Fromme in 45 min I still had 2 broken arms after attempting Air Supply.

All i'm sayin is take it easy, Air Supply isn't going anywhere. You still have to do the Stairway gap jump. ;)

Glad to hear you guys had a good time. I've only been once to the shore (Fromme) and definetly want to go back again.

In fact I was thinking about going next weekend. Sunday afternoon. If anyone is interested let me know. It's still a week away but thought i would throw it out there.

Done... Next time I go I will most definitely without a doubt do the PINNER gap and the PINNER gap to bridge..

the thing about the super pier (RIP) was that it was a step-down which made it a hell of a lot easier. I'm still stuck on clearing the first big gap on Airsupply and the step up onto the bridge and the skinny with the golden arches. It would be nice to get out there more to start working myself back up :o

the thing is... with the skatepark... it was super organized and had ALOT of people backing it. Who represents us (bikers) to the parks board? the goats... umm who else? we would have to get a commitee made up of a wide range of age levels, and what kind of biking you actually do ( xc, freeride etc.)
When they (skaters) were in the process of getting the skatepark, they bargained with the city that if they raised an X amount of money.. i think it was around 50,00 than the city would pay for the rest. They did a hell of a lot of fundraising, and had a ton of support.... they also nagged the hell out of the city basically to the city giving in due to frustraion.....
I don't know if that would be a good route to follow... But it could work. IT worked for the skaters

I find the skate parks, well the one close by me anyway, is being taken over by TONS of really young kids there kind of just to roll over the "bumps". Which is no problem at all, but it has been really sketchy to ride there lately because you always have to be watching for these little kids who ride in front of you.

I'm pretty sure that when we had the petition going last year i think we got over 500 sigs that was presented to the city of Delta, so there is a pretty big number and this was no door to door. I'm not sure if you could that kinda numbers out of the north delta skate boarding community. Plus, it wasn't like there was a lot of word out there about the petition so 500 names is pretty impressive

In my view the Delta parks board is useless and they will never get their act together. If you're going to build anything go ahead and do it just make sure it's built well. I don't need any Bullshit from u Jay saying "Don't built anything" either. When the parks board finds out that we have built something new they'll probably take a year before they get someone to take it down if they even do that. As things go for me I'm not even sure that I will have time to build since i'm at school all week and I work saturday but I'll find time to build a bit. The shed is an awesome place to ride, there's tons of deadfall lying around. I'm just sick of all the talk that we should do this or that. Get out there and do it.

maybe the reason they arent helping us build stunts is the fact that people are going out and building stuff when they arent supposed to. The reason those stunts were torn down is because they were junk and unridable. If we didn't build anything we wouldn't need big duallies we would all be ridng XC.

give me an example

lets say a ladder section was falling apart on a trail which made it unsafe but ridable? Then fix away, but lets say adding an alternate extension to sumthing, not a good idea. If you gotta think about it, then it probably isn't a good idea.

If you have an idea, send Brett an email see what he says. He's the one that keeps in touch with the city of delta and would probably tell you whether or not it's a good idea.

not add onto existing structure, but add onto the trails that are already there. in some trails there may be enpty places where you could build a new stunt. It is still the same old trail, so your not building a new trail, just adding new stuff to an old one. instead of having sections between structures where your just riding along a trail, you could use that space for new structures.

We've had this conversation before and I'm not some little shit, i'll mess you up. I never said I wanted new trails either. Just adding on stuff and fixing up parts of a trail that are getting worn from tons of use. I've never seen or heard of you doing anything to improve the trails network in the shed.

You DONT have to extend the trail by another 75 feet. That's what I'm trying to say. Add onto it by putting stunts up in sections of the trail that have nothing.
You are riding down a trail, you hit a drop, you continue riding but the next stunts isnt for another 20 feet or so. Build something in that space.

The thing about an extention like that is it's most likely cutting out new trail, whether it's above the forest floor or not.
