Hey all. Just looking for some suggestions for some beginner XC rides in Kamloops. I not looking for anything too technical or really hard climbs, but somthing to get the heart going while still hvaing fun. I have been doing the Kenna Cartwright trails for a while now and while it provides a good workout, a change of scenery would be nice. I have retired the DH bike for the year due to some injuries and want to finish off the season building endurance. Any reccomendations with trail descriptions would be great. If you don't want to post directions to trails, thats cool. You can also PM me. Thanks!

Hey, I'd love to take you out on some rides. I have a few I like! I should be getting a new XC bike in the next couple weeks.

Thanks Cheryl! That would be cool. I am still not very strong on the climbs yet. This is the most I have pedaled a bike in a very long time. But I think each time I am getting better. I am trying to get out 2-3 times a week, even if its only for an hour or so after work. But the dailight it starting to run short on me for after work rides as I get off at 6pm most days. So I am going to either start getting up early and going before work or just on my days off (Thurs and Fri). Maybe I'll keep practicing my climbs for a couple weeks until you get your new bike and then we can see what we can find!

My favorite. Kona's The King. It's my 3rd season on the King.
Try the trail system that runs from barnhartvale*spelling* to Juniper Ridge, thats a good ride. also try the dew drop range trail above kamloops lake.

I love the BHV connector. I used to ride it to work all the time. Dew Drop is so fun. I'd like to ride up to Jamison or Harper from the bottom, that would be fun.

Ok, you guys are nuts. Climbing Harper? LOL...WOW that is totally not my idea of beginner. Maybe in a year or so if I stick with this XC stuff.

Cheryl, how else am I supposed to slow you down. I've got all the attachments for you to take a few dozen brats.
Fat Whacker, the road up Harper is pretty tame, especially into the treed section. Take er easy and pace yourself and you'll be fine.
A short easy ride is the Canada Games course down at the Ranch, up on the benchlands. A lap is only 15 minutes and rolls pretty fast (no big climbs).

Ya let's start there. I could go for a Dufferin or Aberdeen too!
Maybe we get a riding group started? Like Wednesday night shop ride type deal.

I would be down for somthing like that. Only hitch is we are running out of daylight pretty quick these days. So the ride we pick needs to be a quick one. I could probably work it so I get off a little early to make it happen.

I am usually working till 6pm but could probably arrange to get off at 4:30 or 5 if its only a day a week or so. I also have Thursdays and Fridays off so anytime then is pretty good.

Sweet. I am going out tomorrow (today as its 12:35am). I will most likley go out in the late morning/early afternoon for a rip up Kenna. I want to scope out a different route I have never taken before. If anyone is up for a beginner xc rip tomorrow, just reply and we can hook up.
As soon as you get your new ride Cheryl, let me know. I really need to get out as much as possible before the season is done. But just remember, I am new to this climbing stuff so no poking fun of the out of shape dude.
