mmmmm very nice addition to Garbo Zone, flowy table and gappers and hippers, and there is multiple lines and hits, some are rather large, and lower NoDuff is bermed out a little too before GT.....nice job mother nature for providing the rain needed to get this sucker open.....

78 DAYS!!!!! GOOD GOD MAN!!! that rules!!!!! HAHAHAHA

78 days? Where did that number come from? Seeing as how it was under closed all last summer as well, I would guess the number should be higher.

sidetrack is freaking awesome. so smooth, so nice

McTB

Sidetrack is awesome! It's butter-smooth right now. Hit it before the braking bumps develop.

One weird thing tho: after the jumps there's a flat straightaway and it looked like an option trail broke off starting with a dirt roll in to a step-up onto a rock. It didn't look normal Bike park style though because there was chunder everywhere but the jump looked well built. I got onto the rock but the only way off was a 15 to 20 footer to a very flat wide landing. No tire tracks. I had to hike back up to the trail. I hope they either finish the drop (build up a tranny) or rope off the entrance because the potential for disaster is there.

McTB, that step up your talking about is actually the second part to a much bigger stunt. next time your there take a look up up up and across the trail, there is a nice big road/trail gap which crosses over top of Side Track down into the gully you mentioned and into the step up onto the rock. I assume this is a movie stunt as there is now way they'd ever ever open something like that for the masses. Well at least I hope not.

Yeah the drops you guys are seeing are Schley's drops from Unchained.

Something must have really changed about the lower one cause last year it was almost 30' to a super-steep tranny. Gotta check it out and see what's going on...

Oh man I rode it for the first time yesterday... move over Dirt... I have found a new favorite trail.

The drop at the start should be bigger! So sick and smooth.

New Favorite Run...

Roundhouse down... pin it!

Freight (or what is left) to Sidetrack to A-Line to Biker X.

Great day there in the park!

The park is at it's best... congrats to the trail crew!

i'm assuming that asking for directions for the bike park is different. if so how do you get to side track? i'm heading up friday
thanks

Head down freight train and take your pick of gg's or down bear cub until you hit mid station, then back onto freight train past containers until you reach the fork. You will see a new run cut with a sign that says "Side Track" beside No Duff, Freight train and Duffman. Enjoy.

For the drops, get some speed. They are mini drop/gap/step down's and fun. It's a very enjoyable trail providing you've got a lot of speed. :)

Depends on what you like. Bear cub, you can haul or have some fun down GG's.

Jimmy-James
09-26-2006, 11:19 AM
gg is goats gully right? does is meet up with frieght train farthur down than bear cub?

seand
09-26-2006, 11:22 AM
You know that aweful corner on bear's cub that hooks to the left and then curves back to the right? It puts you just above the wallride area on your right? Goat's Gully cuts that s-corner section off and shoots you straight into a perfect run-in to that wallride area.

yep.

one more question... is the garbo shair closed on weekdays? Can you take the gondola up to the garbo zone? if so is it pretty easy to find your way?
thanks

connor
09-26-2006, 03:04 PM
yeah, you take the gondy to the top, then go mach 25 down for like a min, watch for water bars, they are nasty. You will miss the first part of OS or Freight train, unless you want to climb up to the top of Garbo chair.

Gondy is closed for the rest of the season, Garbo is open til the end. I was hanging out by guest relations and the ticket booth yesterday, sooo many people getting turned away from sightseeing, "What? Its Closed? Only weekends? I'm only here til Friday? WTF?" People need to do some research before booking their vacations. Kinda wierd its closed before the Bike Park closes.....

seand

Sidetrack's getting nice and worked in...but there's that one drop to flatish landing that's getting pretty concret-eish now. It's not as smooth as it used to be!

Seand...I saw someone on a nice blue VPX today (friday) was that you?

DaveM
09-29-2006, 09:46 PM
Yup, Sean was up there. I saw him getting on the lift on my second run, but didn't get a chance to shout out, then didn't see him for the rest of the day.

Sidetrack is definitely sweet.

seand
10-01-2006, 11:48 AM
Nope, but I was on a blue 6.6 :)

Dave, you should have screamed at me :)

Sidetrack is definitely a trail you want to keep your flow and speed on. After the fall away and step-up on freight train, you don't wanna stop so you can get some good distance on the first drop on sidetrack.

What a trail! The whole trail has potential for being beyond awesome once some of the berms get bricked in and all the jumps get fully worked in. I still prefer freight train from that part down, but once ST gets some love and whatnot, it will be a tough choice. Right now, i can do without the area it dumps you into (not a fan of that part of duffman/golden triangle) but atleast you can head down to a-line from there which is a nice way to keep the sidetrack groove going.

Friday was an amazing day..Sat was good too but far more busy.
