Hey

What is Hey Bud like? I'm trying to find out a bit of information on it, in an attempt to determine whether it's worth the climb up to it or not.

Super-paranoid people can PM details if they prefer.

It's worth it. But not for long if it gets spread around. Very steep. Very grippy. Very fun.

Although I hear your concerns about word getting out about the trail, at this stage it isn't on any maps and it takes a fair amount of climbing to get to it. Hopefully that helps the cause. Plus I'm trying to be quite vague about the trail here (which is surprisingly hard work).

I haven't heard much about it, other than when it gained some attention last year and that there is a tire-tacoing spot on the trail to watch out for. For some variety lately I've been checking out a bunch of trails throughout the valley that I haven't ridden before, and I thought I might give this one a try sometime soon as well.

What's the story on JAWS?

We'll be hitting Cheap Thrills and Gargamel this weekend, but I heard about jaws a while ago and haven't hit it yet. I'm assuming it's accessible off the Flank as well? If so, where at? I've ridden Industrial Disease, parts of Danimal and the Yoda's playground stuff along with Cheap Thrills, but haven't stumbled across jaws before.

Sorry, I've got no input on hey bud.

Cheers,
EBX

Jaws is a oneshot steep wonder. Its not even loamy. I won't even bother.

Thanks Lee. Yeah, Cheap Thrills is our standard west side ride. Gargamel will be Sunday morning. Both days we'll do a couple of hours in the park after those rides (post swim, of course!).

Cheers,

I haven't ridden Jaws, but I loved the description of it from the old bike guides that used to be available for free: "...Stay right unless you want to go down Jaws which is a perfect example of how not to build a trail".

I rode Hey Bud yesterday, and it's fun! Steep sections, tough log rides, and nice flowey sections too.

The ride up is quite hard though, but you're rewarded by some great loamy trail in the beautiful forest. It's quiet in there, mossy, and there's a river near the bottom that's nice.

The log rides are hard to get on though, and may require a front tire pivot!
