Hello all,

Sorry this is a little off topic! I am in whislter for a while and I was wondering how from whistler I can figure out if there is wind in Squamish! I am having fun riding the bike here but would not mind a few trips down to the pit if it's windy but I don't want to drive 40' only to get skunked!

Any tips?

Thanks :)

Don't bother. There is a windline but its a long distance call from Whistler - there's been an oil spill there - the water is effing cold and the sailing there is flat water booooring. Squamish WIndsurfing Society if you still really want to waste some time

Thanks guys! Flat water can be fun (I have my freestyle board) but cold huh that sounds cold ;) May be I'll check it out if I get sick of the park (which reminds me I really need to start looking for the trails around!!!)

Huh because I don't really know where they are ;)
Any good one you'd recommend?

Grab a map from Tantalus or Corsa cycles. Head up Diamond Head and check out Powersmart or P-Nuts / 19th Hole.

Ya, Tantalus or Corsa will hook you up. They probly will be able to even set you up with a group.

I wouldnt tackle 19th alone if youve never ridden it before. So before you hit up pper diamond head, id find a parnter.

When tonight? Can it be done on a DH bike? (I don't mind pushing my bike for miles)

I was thinking around 6:30. If we're not shuttling, we won't make it...it's a long haul.
If you're up for a ride, we can do something in Valleycliffe. There are some short hike a bikes up to some decent DH. Some really nice slick rock in there too.
You down?

a nicer pedal is up the axxess in allice lake, down eds bypass, corners, dont tell jude, along machiter, up jacks, up to crouching squirell , midlife crisis, down the rest of jacks, up to around the rock, up to roller coaster then down it, lumber jacks, 7 up or committed. Now thats a fun ride thats pretty mellow and a shit load of bang for your buck.

Hmmm, a bit too mellow for my liking.

I'd go to the end of Perth and do Entrails or Value Added down to the 3 way connector. From there, a quick jaunt up to Larvacide, then hit Highway to Hell.
If I need another run, a quick lap of Gouranga is nice.

I like this route cause it spits you back out at the end of Perth. Nice place to park.

I am down for sure!
here is my cell: 801 647 7788

6:30 would work good for me. I guess it's 45' from Whistler right?

Done and Done sir! I'm thinking of hitting the FM tower in Valleycliffe, then down 'Labor of Love.'
There's a couple other fun connector trails after that too. I'll ring you around 6:00 and we can discuss a meeting spot. Probably McDonalds (right on the highway) would be the easiest spot to meet.

Sounds good! Do you want to call around 5:45 so then I'd just leave whistler?
How would we shuttle? My car can take 3 persons 3 bikes so can I bring a buddy?

jpi

Valleycliffe is pure pedalling / hiking, so bring a buddy if you want.

I'll call around and see if I can get a shuttle buddy arranged, but don't count on it. Most likely do the grunt up to the FM tower.

My cell is at home, so I'll be on the road at 5:45 somewhere between Vancouver and Squamish. I think we should stick to 6:30 at McDonalds in Squamish, and leave from there...shuttle or no shuttle.

Mani_UT

ok I'll be at the Mc Donald at 6:30 then!!! See you there!

jpi

See you then. Again, I'll try and arrange a shuttle, but you'll find out what we're doing at 6:30!
BTW; your biking skills pretty decent? I don't want to scare you or anything.

Cool ! I'll check that out!
I was just wondering how windy it is down there today because it is quite windy here in Whistler today.

Sigh - don't say I didn't warn you. The wind there can go from 20 to 0 in 5 minutes - it's really godamn cold - I know i told you all this when you first asked but whatever...

Edit - Pistol River is WARM compared to Squamish - the river is glacier fed and the wind there is totally utterly unreliable.

Sounds just like sailing in Utah ;)
Seriously, I might not go but I am just trying to break away from biking as my body is wasted and I seem to be unable to take a day off from riding!!!

I got your message that the sailing there sucks dont worry. On another note, here we often drive 2 hours to sail tiny lakes with 5 degree water. Yeah Utah windsurfers are a weird kind. We are so unspoiled the slightest wind get us al excited ;) Just about ANY sailable place sounds like paradise. haha
