I had a 2.7 Nokian on my hartail for quite a while, and the rub damage from the tire on the frame is pretty substantial. I s there something I can do about this? Like is there some kind of liquid / metal / crap I can apply to fill the rubbed out notches?
Or just ride her until she breaks?

It depends on what material your frame is made of. If itīs a steel frame, put some clear nail polish on it. This way there wonīt be any roast on it. If itīs a aluminium frame, donīt worry. The tire definitely didnīt damage the frame structure. The tire wouldīve lost all itīs side knobs before that wouldīve happened anyways. The only thing that happened is that the paint is gone, but that shouldnīt affect the stability of your frame. Correct me if Iīm wrong, but Iīm pretty positive that you donīt need to worry at all. :)

It's a Rocky Mountain Reaper, Easton Aluminum. And there are some serious grooves worn from the tire rub, not just the paint.

yea, it deffinatly can wear through your frame. There isnt anything you can do really. Like you said, ride it till she breaks.

Ok, I apologize - I never thought that a tire could do that much damage. I thought that due to the rubberīs softness the tire would wear out before damaging the frame. Donīt know if you can do anything about that, sorry. Awesome sig though.

I think it's got more life left in it than just lake jumpin'! But hey; I heard about some new DH trail up at Cat lake...and I hear it's shuttle-able? You heard of this trail?

A tire if left to rub on a frame will go all the way through a chain-stay or a seat-stay or any part of the frame if it is aluminum.

I know first hand. I have seen a slightly out of true tire go all the way through a chain stay on a Norco VPS.

It is not only rubber that contacts the frame, but dirt and sand and little rocks that get caught in the rubber of the tire. A rubbing tire at Whistler is death for a frame especially in the wet.

To answer the original post....
"rub damage from the tire on the frame is pretty substantial. I s there something I can do about this?"
Once the tire has cut into an aluminum frame there is next to nothing you can do to fix it apart from welding (and most aluminum frames should not be welded after heat treating).

In other words the liquid metal will just fill the gap but will not offer any strength.

I feel for you buddy but you are SOL .
