freeride frame size help

looking for a 6"-7" freeride bike.
currently ride a 16.5" xc hardtail race oriented bike with 2.5" SID, standover is acceptable.
30" inseam, 5'-7" tall.
would I be looking at going to a smaller frame for tough/tight downhills and 4'-5' drops?

I'm about the same size and ride a medium heckler. The top tube on the small is too short for me. I think it really depends on what bike you're looking at. Best thing to do is to get to a shop and sit on a few that interest you.
