Sucks looks like they made the bx way easyer, just when I was almost clearing the whole thing. They took out the little 10 foot step down, made everything easy.

Hey... not that I ever hit it... but they took out some of the jumps in the Redbull as well! I know that they have now renamed it the Jump Farm.... but honestly!
There was a tracker yesterday at the top of one of the berms... I wonder why they took that all out?!??!?!

Please. I've only ever seen a dozen people on that course. All that real estate and its obviously too hard for 95% of the riders. I think that its about time that they turned that empty expanse into something that more people can ride.
Having said that, I'll probably NEVER ride it, no matter how much they dumb it down. Just not my style... Not that I HAVE any style...

I attemped to hit it for the first time this year, last weekend! It is huge and yes, there are very few riders on that course... and the Boneyard stuff... quite frankly.. well some of it scares the junk outa me! Those doubles are huge!
Might I suggest a Dual Slalom? Nice flowy dual slalom... nice big berms a few tables... man that would be nice!

I loved the 4x course..it was like a giant extension of A-Line all the way to the bottom..

Last year I hit the Biker-X corse and I though it was just awesome. But heres my take:
The way I see it is that after Crankworx there is no need for the course to be all superburly as the need for it has gone away. Same with the Red Bull jumps. But, in order to keep everyone happy to some degree they "dumb it down" so that a majority of folks can have a go at it

They only took out the bottom step down and finish booter from the Red Bull jumps, the Big Dogs are still there. They are doing work on the boneyard as well, the big step up is now a big table, not sure what they will do to get a run in going.

Good. I think it's been getting harder every year for the last couple years, to the point that most people can't hit it. I could hit it all but the one step up at the beginning last year, but this year's looks way burlier.
That or I'm getting too lazy to get my bike up to speed enough to hit it all properly.

TONS of people were ripping it up today, very mellow now, more tables, no step down gap, no more whoop section, looks like fun.....

Yea, I saw tonnes of people riding it too. I think it's a successful change, because I think I saw at least 10 people on it at once as I rode up the lift.
I have yet to hit it though.

Thats bull shit, there is all of a-line and dirt merchant for "95 %" of the people to hit, bx was the one jump trail that has actully been a challange. Why cant there be one little trail thats harder and not everyone and there mom can hit? Its not like it was so hard that only pros can hit it, I am not that great of a rider, I race expert class and dont even come close to the podium. A 10X10 stepdown is to big, are you serious?
Instead of spending a bunch of time rebuilding bx-cross so that people can come strait of b-line a roll it maybe consintrait of finshing frieght train. Reamber the full page adds 2 years ago talking about "200 jumps, berms and drops", maybe they should fu^&ing finish that!!!

I've hardly ridden it at all this year but did it a few times last night, would've been nice if they reworked that table after the old road gap, I nearly died almost landing in the berm.....or at least add a poppy lip or something so you don't have to mega speed check......

If you wanna hit bigger shit why don't you try riding somewhere other than the bike park? Or better yet go make your own stunts!

FT can't get finished 'cause the VAN-OC guys are going to tear the shit out of that part of the mountain next summer in Preperation for the Olympic downhill. No point in putting hundreds of hours into building a beauty jump trail just to have it ripped apart by bulldozers. As for the biker-X, having a trail go completely unused is a waste of space and dirt. It's not like it's easy. Just less consequence than before.

I do build my own stunts and ride other places. BX was not completly unused I rode it like 10 times a day and saw many other riders hitting it. I ride whistler becuse theres a chair lift going to the top, I dont have the resourses to build a biker cross. Why couldnt they leave it the way it was?, it wasnt that hard. Its supposed to be double black right? Now theres going to be people who couldnt clear a 4 foot jump rolling it.
Unfortunately, WBP does not make money from you and the many others who are riding the biker-x. Catering their product to 95% of the riding population is how they keep the bike park open.

Ya I am sure dumbing down biker cross is going to bring in a ton of people that would normally go somewere else.

The BX course looks a bit too burly for me. However, having some really progressive stuff visible in the BP keeps the really progressive riders happy there... and that's important for the global image of WBP.

I'm not positive of the reasons for the BX being reworked but one thing I have noticed is that with the construction they are now doing down around lower A-line, it was closed. They need as many possible lower trails to be used by the masses as possible. If lower A-line is closed and the BX is too hard then everyone goes down Heart O Darkness and runs over the intermediate riders.

ya ya ... good point ... lived there for 6 years and i always said that so much mid to upper mtn to be used but it always filter into like 3 runs at the bottom ... u get easy does it hornet and all its fasets bikercross/ bone yard and heart of darkness ... well H.O.D got beat up bad last year and years before, the hornet/ aline / old school is so beat down ... you almost have to put some kinda blue run down the pipe of the bone yard ... so making the biker x more mid level riding keeps the other trails that are almost done a little better for everyone. Remember its not the double black dimonds that keep the mtn open its the everyone can ride it that keeps us junkies a place to ride that kicks ass

I just hit up whistler for the first time this season on saturday.
This year's bikercross is way easier than last years. It took me a little while to get last year's course completely dialed, but I got the new course dialed within a few runs and began overshooting many of the jumps. Its really easy to over shoot the 1st of 2 tables near the bottom (the two steep tables close together). The new course is still fun, but definately liked last years course better.

Did you ride it BEFORE Saturday, or before Crankworx? Its way easier now then when it was first built, the top tables were gaps, there was a 8foot road gap, and the whoops were taken out.....much harder before.....

i didnt really ride biker cross before.. but i rode it yesterday.. but yes it looks easier than before crank worx.. i remember how crazy and insane it was.
but i gotta admit.. one of the jump there isnt really... properly set up.. or least I dont like it. its the one where there is clean table and Berm and steeeeep i mean really steep hill down and up the next jump. I wiped out there pretty bad.. because i over shot it.. didnt reallize how small it was.... I was deceived by that steep hill going down..

Yea, I've heard that a lot. I see people doing massive brake checks there.

I nearly died overshooting that one wednesday night! frig, I knew I had to brake check too and even then I landed just before the berm.....as I was in the air I kept thinking about how many people bit it there during the bikercross during c-worx........somehow I held on to the landing without smashing my skull into the bars, how I don't know....riding back up the lift looking at just how far that was made me nearly pee myself......frig that's a sketchy jump
I dont even jump that jump, I just go into the steep thing without braking much, and just try and keep both wheels on the ground. I then just roll the jump. It seemed to be easier, and faster to me. It is a veeery strange jump...

indeed it is.. strange not just because of that hill going down but.. after there is like.. lil 2 bumps, i am guessing its supposed to be really tiny double or something.... is kinda sketchy if you go on full speed..

Yeah, its and odd jump, although even when I tried to stay on the ground it would levitate me as I went over the top... The bikercross is great fun, has its challenges but it is all good.
I like the dumbed down version, and you can still hurt yourself on it if you want to.
I like that there is a choice besides just Hornet/lower A-line. That trail is way too busy.

i like bx course now rather than the crankworks one this year. i didnt like how the old course had steep whoops and rollers that i would smash into and almost get bucked off the bike. maybe it was because i did it only once but the new course is more fun and i did that over and over. last years course still was way better than this years tho imo and was way faster and fun.

The new course has smaller jumps and smaller lips = not as fun.
I liked having a jump trail that was harder than aline and dirt merchant. I guess it makes sense for whistler to have a trail that more people can ride but it kinda sucks for those of us looking for a more challanging trail than aline.
I find this new bx easyer than it has been in the last 2 1/2 years, A good sultion might be to build some of the jumps with bigger options to keep it challanging for better riders but less skilled riders could still hit it.
