Yesterday I was looking into bike rentals, you know seeing how much profit they earn. Check this out

The Park has about 30 (?) Stab garbonzo primos, meaning, they must have gotten a good deal from kona, lets call it $2000 per bike.

Lets say about 20 get rented per day (maybe more ? ). Thats $2000. Than insurance for 20 bikes, Thats $500. So on average from renting only bike, lets call it $2500 per day. The bike park is open for 4 months (?), so 120 x 2500 = $300 000.

The bikes in total cost the bike park $90 000. They earn a total of $210 000 From JUST bikes and insurance. Take into consideration gear and more stuff, there earning big big money. Than at the end of the year they sell the bikes for $2000 each. Thats another $90 000 and there back up to $300 000 Profit. Amazing.

To be honest I doubt that WB pays for those bikes. I am sure that Kona was all to happy to be the sole provider of bikes for WB.

I am not sure how the bidding system was doen but they must have done a bid on who offer the best deal and Kona came in the lowest.

Here is a question... Has Kona always been the WB Bike?

Cheers!

It's been Kona for at least the last 5 years. They definitly don't get them for free, though cost is pretty low. I think 20 bikes per day might be a little high as an average. It's pissing rain up here right now and I was just at the base of the hill... dead-city. Also in May, June, and September there's barely anyone around. I'm sure some of the rental revenue goes towards trail maintenace (equiptment and labour) Not denying there's a profit in it, but I don't think it's quite the gravy train you may think.

I got an idea.

Throw in one of those magic carpets on Old Buck on Seymour.

Charge $5 a trip, setup the rental fleet at the parking lot...

Don't you lease a mountain from the Government. Like WB doesn't own the mountain they just leased it from the Government for a certain amount of time.

Am I correct in this?
