Hey Ladies,

Anyone else signed up for this camp? I found out last weekend that there was room so I signed up! Should be fun.

Cheers! :fro:

You'll learn lots! Just make sure you practice lots once the weekend is over to reinforce what you learn!

Yeah totally, you gotta practice or it doesn't stick with you!
NewGirl you can check out the site at www.dirtseries.com . It's two full days with skills plus trails. I participated once a couple of years ago and learned a lot and most recently I swept at the last Whistler camp for the beginner group. All in all it's a great group of people having fun!

Ok I went out with Penny last night (one of the Dirt Series coaches) to do a test run so she could see exactly where I was at with my riding and get me into the right group this weekend. Well, it was the most amazing ride! She totally helped me down so much stuff I rode way more than I usually do! It was quite amazing. I'm totally stoked about this weekend!

anyone doing this on May 12th/13th? I am signed up and ready to go (birthday present yay!)

I need to get skooled in the art of mountain biking. All these trips over the bars just don't do it for me anymore!

Hey Sarah, has anyone checked your set-up? If you're going OTB a lot, it's possible that your stem is too long or your fork is set up too soft.

Then again, it may just be a technique thing. Either way, the camps are great. A lot of people who have done them notice a big difference in their skills and confidence by the time the weekend is over.

Sideshow put my bike together, he knows what he's doing and naz checked over my forks so its more probable that I like to freak out before something scary and slam my brakes on!

As them if they can teach you to be gentle with the front brake. ;)

The best thing is to learn to get your butt waaaaaay back. If you're hanging off the back, you'll fall to the side rather than going OTB most of the time.

yeah and I have el caminos on there so have wound them waaaay down so the front brake is as squiffy (?) as it can get.

Thanks Stuart I'll keep you posted as to my progress!

Glad to hear you had a good time! It was really cool to see everyone's progression over the weekend.

Hope you weren't too sore for work :-)

Cheers,
Penny

(p.s. if you're interested in trying out my slayer at any time let me know)

YOU are Penny?! that's hilarious - I was the chick on the Giant Faith who was whining I couldn't lift it! I DID try your slayer and I want one badly!!!!!!!1

thanks so much for all your help....It was the best. The only problem now is that I want all those ramps to practice on!!!

Yes :-) (I clued in when I saw your post and remembered that you mentioned you taught at the film school)

You tried my Knolly (heavy) and Tanya's RM Switch (still heavier than the Slayer) when we were doing wheelie drops...if you'd like to check out the Slayer on the trail, (i.e. not just for wheelie drops) let me know! I'd be happy to meet you for a ride sometime. Your Faith is a good bike but heavy, and perhaps not as versatile as other options.

There's places to practice without all of the ramps and such if you're a little inventive too.

Cheers!

Hey folks,

Just wanted to spread the word that there's another clinic coming up this weekend in North Vancouver, July 14/15th. There's still a couple spots available if you or anyone you know might be interested!

Thanks,
Penny D.

my only query is where are all the pics that that lady was taking? like the group shot? that would have been nice to have had for the files...
