I liked quite a few of those, good for him for further expanding his skills elsewhere as well.

i think they're ridiculously easy shots to take. if it wasn't a pro i bet those wouldn't get published on pinkbikes front page. can you say kissass?

some of the angles from which the photos were taken seem a bit too extreme
They are alright.
Lets just say its a good thing he has already found his true calling though:
Biking

imo, theyre only okay because of the fact he had a media pass (they could have been much better)

they are pretty good, and Im sure will get better. I like romo.
didnt like his labeling in the upper corner tho..put that down at the bottom.
Between him and Mike Reid, Harooks name is being dropped more then the GLC. Looks like a waste of $5000 in photo gear to me.

when you buy a camera for the first time, you are not instantly a pro photographer.

pink bike isn't exactly picky about its photography, check out the the photo of the day next time your on there. 98% of the time the shots sucks. As for the romo stills their decent.

I cut him the same slack that I cut everyone else around here 'cause the dude's learning and nobody is a pro-level photog their first few years. The money shot contest proved that out weeding out the boys from the boys to men.
To be honest I'm more impressed he's making roads into places that don't involve one-footing monster road gaps. Mebbe there will be life after biking for Mr Romaniuk that doesn't involve the mill in Westbank and laps in powers between shifts. Wait...that doesn't sound like such a bad life...

Hey they aren't that bad and top be serious... the guy kills it on a bike and now he has set his sites on photography... I could only dream of that kind of life!
Stay tuned... changes are coming!

can you say "green with envy"?

can you say "green with envy"?
"grnee itwh vnye?" No. i don't think i can. But i don't think it matters either. for example, d-slang has way better shots, and you dont see them on the pinkbike front page. thats what I be saying.

minus all the effin lense flairs
this has got me thinking
steve romaniuk has become the paris hilton of photography, hes damn good at riding, and decides to go out and use his cred to become a photographer, instead of getting a record deal. Now hes gettin all this attention, the best photo spots and obviously he can afford the best gear and all his film friends telling him where to shoot from, Now hes decent, but would be no where without his riding.

Yeah, that's what I was trying to say. The poster potential for some of thsoe shots made them cool.

That's a cheap pop.
If you had Paris's leg up wouldn't you sign a recod deal. Daddy's money won't last forever. A girl's gotta have her diamonds.

Steve is a really good guy and he is just starting out with this. Whatever happened to a little bit of encouragement for those of you who are scornful. So what if he got a pass? so what that he's pro? He's an awesome rider and if he has that dedication in other areas he will be a success in that as well. all in due course! I think its great that at his age (which is pretty young to me!) he is thinking forward into what he might want to do later in life
Good on ya Stills Steve.

i think we all read a little too far into this. me included. i dont think they put the photos up screaming, "romo stills new pro photog buy these pics for your mag!!!". i think it was more for the novelty that rom. (a pro mtn biker) also has other skills and hobbies to show off ??? maybe im completely wrong.
$$Chris*Ko$$
07-27-2006, 05:38 PM
maybe we should be showcasing other photographers and giving them more passes other than concentrating on one guy who already has it made? I dunno though. and i dont think any of us our actualy dissing the MAN steve, except mdub, just being critical as we always are.

you guys need to freaking relax, i sense some major envy going around.
a biking pro shot some pics and sent them to pinkbike. what's the deal? he didn't say he was gonna get into this and rival anyone, he's not exactly stealing money from the industry and pro photogs, he never said that he was gonna quit biking to shoot, he just shot some pics and sent them into pinkbike. pb enjoys the novelty of having a biker shoot some shots and promoting a canadian rider.
this is all just for good fun... sitting here and completely dissing him is just absolutely idiotic

I *heart* romo. kinda. fun times here. and just remember, you cant have constructive critisisme without critisisme. and lots of it. it's how you construct it. with lots and lots of critisisme.
it would have been intersting for Romo to post them without his name - see what reaction he got - the negativity around here is because of who he is, and how he can use that to get some slack - I think its cool that he is expanding his skills.
