After three consecutive days of hard interior park riding, noticed my Fox 40 not performing as well on the last couple of rides.

Took the fork apart today and noticed/heard a lot of air coming out lowers once the pushrod screws were removed from the lowers.

Question:

a. How does the air get into the lowers? Have taken the fork apart on several ocassions but this is the first time I have heard air escaping from within. Seals are good. Top caps are nice and tight.

b. How do I go about "burping" the fork?

c. Yes. I have used the search option. This fork has different internals from the Shiver and Monster.

d. Any other Fox 40 owners have come across this? Solution?

As mentioned above, have had this fork for over a season and have taken it apart several times. This is the first time any air has gotten into the lowers.

Help?

do you fully disassembel the fork when you take it apart? there are some crush washers in there that they say need to be replaced every time, but im wondering if you can get away reusing them...

I have been re-using the washers. The washers conform to the shape of the hole and pretty much just pop back into place once torqued down by the bolt. Have yet to leak oil....

Most forks have to be burped. My dirt bike's fork have burp screws on the top caps that you should do every ride.

My shiver has burp screws aswell. After a long ride on a hot day, there gets to be a nice bit of pressure in there.
