So recently I have cracked my 05 Mad Max helmet and have bought a new 05 TLD off pricepoint. I have decided to just keep my mad max in case I want to get a free crash replacement Remedy. I also offered it to my dad who is looking for a new full face helmet. This got my thinking, if you send in a helmet for a crash replacement, does the company (Giro in this case) check to see if you have a receipt? I have never sent anything away for a crash replacement before so I wonder if some doesn't just sell a smashed up helmet to some else for cheap ($30-$40) so that that person can get a free crash replacement. Does this work or has anyone else tried this?

i don't think you need a receipt but crash replacements definitely aren't free. They are like 20 percent off usually.

I thought that was for high end stuff like frames and components.

lol crash replacement isnt free, essentially you buy the new helmet and after all the bullshit fees and stuff you end up paying the same as a new one, theya rent going to give you a brand new helmet for free

I think you need proof of purchase. Like maybe the tag off the box. Not nessicarily the receipt. Email gyro with a good story, there a good company, they'll problably hook you up.

I think the crash replacement is valid for a year only. So you might need to show proof of when you purchased it. It's not free but it is far less than retail. Why does that make Giro assholes?

OGC is the Canadian Giro importer. Go to the OGC website and fill out the crash replacement form. They contact you, give you an RA# (return authorization), then you send your busted helmet to OGC Vancouver and they mail you a new one. It'll cost $100 + tax + shipping to replace your Mad Max with a Remedy (or Xen). I did the same last year. I forget what the shipping cost, but it was still much better than buying a new helmet, unless of course you get a blowout deal... I even got to pick the color. As far as customer service goes, OGC is pretty good IMHO...

Oh, I thought it was $230, but I got mine for $200 with taxes, shipping, everything so it still costs more than what I bought mine for.
