Hi folks...
I'm hopping to get some advice if possible please
3rd September I'm gonna be arriving in your sweet ol country of Canada for 8 weeks!
I'm trying to get an idea of how much riding I'm going to be able to get in...
I'm going to be touring around BC with a bike and fitting in riding where ever I find it... will be riding of the down hill biased variety...
Going to be visiting Whistler, Squamish, Kamloops and other places....
Starting and finishing in Vancouver
Am I going to get the cold rainy weather before I leave do you think?

any advice, tips much appreciated
cheers
Russ

September should be good but October is somewhat hit & miss (for lower mainland & whistler). You might get wet a little bit but it should be ok.

Be ready to get wet, be ready to be stoked, be ready to crash, be ready not to want to go home.

Remember to give the locals Beer or 12 year old single malt Scotch to the locals for any trail advice provided.

Whistler closes the Thanksgiving long weekend... dark day... very dark day... but the rest remain open all year long... I.E. Squamish and North Shore... just be prepared to get really wet... esp when riding close to the ocean.

Enjoy!

Yeah wet but totally mild... never gets cold here... at least in that time anyways. No worry of snow that early so don't pack that stuff. Just rain gear as who likes being wet on a ride! It is my favorite riding time... nothing quite a cool as shreading the trails all summer knowing them very well... and the mist lifting throught the trees! One of the reasons that I moved here. So nice then.

Hope you have fun and PM me if you need any directions to good trails... a free shuttle... that kind of stuff!

Cheers!

going to be stopping by at Squamish and Horseshoe Bay before Whistler, you been there? how long these places need to be looked at you think?

HS Bay - about 10 minutes, unless you're waiting for a ferry, then it'll 2 hours.

Squamish - you couldn't ride all the trails here in a week. Take your time!

squamish is worth checking out for a couple of days... nothing to see in horseshoe bay, unless u want to hop on a ferry, but definately hit up Cypress/Fromme/Seymour as u head east

you see enough of horseshoe bay from the highway to squamish as you whip by at 100km/h.

Horseshoe Bay is only there for the Ferry Terminal... the scene of "the crash"... Squamish is a must ride. Hit up the local shops for a map and find someone that will guide you... so many trails and so worth the hikes up...

Steep rock face riding can be had with a hike up... in some cases it is easier to carry your bike though.

Whistler to Van... best strip of heaven that I can think of!

September is typically a great month for riding around here - a bit cooler than the summer and not as wet as later in the fall. Like others have said, October is typically more hit or miss but should still provide biking opportunities.
