Awesome ride! I would have to say it was my favourite ride EVER. So much fun. Too bad that StefB couldn't make it out. But Jon and I had a wicked time. Great pace on the big bikes (bike bikes as some people like to call them). Great trails. No route-finding problems at all (thanks to Sharon for giving us some beta at Cleveland Dam, otherwise we'd still be out there right now)... Anyways, awesome events. Big thanks to James at Dizzy, the NSMBA, the volunteers, and all the participants and sponsors! Can't wait till next year's madness...

Here's roughly what JayZ and I did:

Up Mt. Seymour Parkway, CBC - TNT - Dirty Diapers - Neds - Bottletop - Twin Bridges (but we didn't go up the twin bridges trail, but rather some hiking trail which had shade and a better grade for hiking (steep)), Seymour Demonstration Forest, Dempsey, up Mountain Highway, down Executioner the whole way to BP, crossed the creek using the BP bridge, hiked up to Skyline drive, found a ridiculous gravel path that was all downhill all the way from Skyline to the Grouse Mountain Skyride parking area, then did phat manuals all the way to Cleveland Park (would have pretty much been all the way to upper levels if Sharon hadn't shouted at us - we didn't notice the station), over Cleveland Dam, through BP, Millstream trail, up the Cypress Road, down Mystery DH - Stupid Grouse - 21st (more phat mannys) to Ambleside park/beach, back to Dizzy's along the roads.

Longest sentence ever! The ride was even longer...

Lee and Brian deserve the crown for the most insane pair. They took the routing to the next level, check out the destination points on Lee's post. They probably rode 40% farther than everyone else.

Gentlemen, I am humbled by your presence!

great ride. I can't believe my 4 Queen's wasn't even good enough for 2nd let alone 1st. :)

I'm heading to the Alps for some road riding this week and look forward to comparing my heart rate against some of the climbs there.

A great ride all day. I was so sick that morning, that if I didn't exceed the doctor's daily recommended intake of contact c's, I probably wouldn't have made it up seymour let alone back to the hurricane grill. I love the Davet's pic of me faceplanting on the little skinny. I was so tired at that point. I was still clicked in from the climb and was happy that I got out of my pedals.

Highlight of the day for me was the ripping back to the hurricane grill from cypress. Like 15 of us ripping down a couple of cypress trails, to the freeway and then down through north van. I'm sure there were some confused motorists. Then we all walked into the grill as a group....just the way we started the day.

I'm so glad I only have to do this once a year, but I sure can't wait for next time.

Since when is Cleveland dam at sea level?

I mean - er, nice work boys! Not to bad for a flatlander, eh Lee?

We opted not to drop down to sea level after loosing too much time coming down from Grouse Nest, wanted to make the last the last check point atop Cypress before they closed down.

Next year we'll have to turn up the pace to meet all the cut off points in time. Start training now heckler :)

I can finally speak again. I was having trouble at the Hurricane Grill.

What an amazing day. I had no idea I'd enjoy the pain so much.

Big thanks to Team Shuttlewhore for having me along.

PS - has anyone seen my cell phone? I hope it didn't end up like the Ham sandwich.

This year my fitness sucked bad - no excuses; wouldn't have made it without shirk pulling me. Took 12h 20min to do 96km and 3030m. Last year I was 6h 30 min to do 68km and 2230m - almost 25% slower last year then this year - 3 weeks of couch-surfing really hurt me.

fuck, yea, i think the beer program may not be advisable in the hotter weather like we had on Sat. so dehydrated even tho i was constantly drinking. but it did make the climbs go by quickly ...

didn't see anyone at the trail day who rode the triple crown ... and for good reason

Uncle Duke
07-10-2006, 09:58 AM

We will have to come up with a new more challenging route for next year. Must be a way to add some more elevation gain?

Hey there young fella. You must be hardcore redneck by now eh?
Ya, Team Shuttlewhore wasn't quite the same without you.
They were way more outrageous!
And Drunker, if that's possible.

Prbably under a power line. Same thing for the dead zones.

Amazing Day! TSW, thanks for the day.

Knight Rider being sick but surviving the ride, Giggler spanking all TSW with his Knolly (you're a MONSTER!), Syncro with his unforgettable sandwich experiences and the "Support Crew" taking care of us from start to finish. Wow!

Sharon/James and volunteers thanks a bunch. The lunch at Cleveland Park was an unexpected bonus.

some of us were conducting a quick safety meeting before climbing fromme. as one of the van tan members cruised by, we said hello. as he passed by he commented on the funny smell..rat who was also passing by right then replied "yes, the summertime brings out the scents"...for me the quote of the day. im still laffing at that.
