Gonna try to get it done tonite since I'm leaving Fri for a 2 week paddling trip. Can't wait to ride the big rock roller now that the line has been corrected and the berm fixed up. Some crazy rock work being done on that gnarly section leading in to that, too.

Was great having Pete Morin directing us where and how to place rocks. I learned a crap load in those 3 hours that he was there. He was getting frustrated that he couldn't do any lifting himself because of his recent crash. You could see him muttering to himself that the 3 beefy punks that were humping rocks weren't moving them as efficiently as he could on his own

Hey that was me! Am I a beefy punk?

In our defence... they were big rocks... huge for that matter!

LOL! Good times and definately worth the time when I get up there and ride the new line!

Cheers!

Pete... good luck with the DH training... you'll get better soon!

hahaha... Ya I was one of those beefy punks, too. But really... everyone less than 60 years old and more than 130 lbs is a beefy punk compared to Pete.

The trailday summary is now up on the nsmba website complete with before/after shots. If you weren't at the trailday, then check it out, 'cause there's some big changes. I think it was a super successful trail day because a tonne of work got done without dumbing down the trail. In fact its harder, if anything.

Another great writeup doug.

Just above the bridge is a pretty gnarly drop and turn. There were a few rocks amongst the roots that had been placed there years ago, but the surrounding area had become eroded and pretty difficult to ride and make the turn at the bottom of the drop. The traffic was also taking a toll on the roots of an enormous fir. This was all rocked in and will make the tree happy, make the corner more flowy, and be less likely to require maintenance in the near future.

sigh i remember when the way to stick that and get on to the rock was to roll - hammer the brakes - stall the front tire - nose-pivot the front and tail whip at the same time - then pedal kick to get speed to get on to the ladder.

heck - i remember when the only way to ride that rock was to climb on top of it.

What do you use the sledge hammer for? Breaking rocks?

No when we stepped out of line.... Pete gave us a light tap on the head to get us in line.

I still have bruises!

Rode Espresso yesterday and the new work is sweet. The new skinnies are cool, and I like the skinny line to the rock roll down, pretty fun line.

Thanks again.
