Hey,
I'm coming out to Qualicom Beach in 2 weeks and I'm almost right on Mount Arrowsmith. I've seen tons of pictures of the trails on there and I've seen drop in ride the trails and I'm just wondering where on the mountain these trails are located. We are also planning to hit up Mt. Washington. Other that these, any ohter freeride/dh trails/stunts in the area.

if anybody has any input at all on specifiics or general trail comments, let me know.

Trevor

Not sure if you're planning your trip around Mt. Washington, but there's a chance it won't be open yet, depending on exactly when you go and exactly how much snow melts up there before then.

Mid July is the important part there--no specific date.

I haven't ridden around the Central - North end of the Island for a couple years, but there was some pretty fun riding in Cumberland, and I have been told that Forbidden Plateau is great.

their summer sure is short on Mt Washington. From July to Oct? Doesn't leave much time for building/expanding

ive never heard of any trails on arrowsmith... washington is good, but even if it is close to opening, it will be really wet up until they close for winter, lol

There is a nice 4x course behind the gun club in Parksville w/ some singletrack surrounding it. There are also some DJ's at Columbia Beach, if they are still there. As well as a BMX track right in Q-beach. Personally, my wife and I have been riding all over the island the last couple years and can tell you honestly that the best riding around Q-Beach is about 30 minutes up the Highway in Cumberland. One of BC's MTB mecca's. So many trails you won't even know where to start, and the best part is they all start right in town. Hope that helps.

yeah well - I'd usually rather have over 500 cm snow base and epic conditions in the winter and keep some summer chair riding till a bit later on....

Whistler base is also a lot lower than mount washington...

Behind the gun club I believe are the trails and 4x course built by the guys at the Arrowsmith bike shop, and I believe that the jumps at Columbia Beach were slated to be torn down for development ( not sure about that one ). Talk to the guys in Arrowsmith Mountain Cycle, they'll tell you where the riding is at.

There is also the Hammerfest DH course beside the provincial park. You can ride there from town (it's a ways, but you can easily do it), but it's a hike a bike up the logging road to the start area. Haven't done it for years but plan to this year. Watch for bears, I've seen a few there.

does it stay fairly cold up there in the winter? I know the base is deep but always I figured it would be heavy coastal snow
