I just read last night in Decline magazine that Marla Streb is building a signature bike park in the jungles of Costa Rica which is set to open for winter 2006!

It'll be an all inclusive deal where you stay there for however much time and you get to explore the trails which will be set up in a hub and spokes fashion winding throughout the jungles. I think they provide bikes too, but I can't remember now.

I loved Costa Rica when we were there for vacation before and have been dying to go back again. This sounds so awesome!!!

I read that too. I would plan something and go. Like a NSMB gals' trip...

Bike Park in Costa Rica? Sounds awesome but from an environmental perspective it sounds kinda iffy.

Fluid, was there any detailed information about environmental impact (or lack thereof) of this park on the local area.

It's not a bike park like Whistler, Sun Peaks, etc. from what I gather.
It's all single track that's winding through the jungle. Sounds like little more impact than hiking trails.
Marla apparently lives in Costa Rica part time now with her husband and baby so I'm sure that as a partial resident of the area she has considered all the environmental stuff prior to taking on this endeavour.
Here's an online version of what I read:

Wow that sounds completely awesome! Thanks for the info Fluid. Yeah, I was thinking Whistler but the single track stuff she talks about with lodge etc sound AMAZING!

So, when are we going?
