Hey, you guys noticing that most the new shorts come with the built in chamois? Personally, I like to bring my own lycra/chamois short and put a loose short over top. Now I'd like an overshort that can be pedaled for hours w/o liner. Something that breathes better than a garbage bag too. The list so far is NemaJewel, Pinner (Sombrio) and Roach IndyCargo. Any suggestion from the guys who ride up? Anything else to consider?
I've been riding an older pair of the MEC samurai shorts for a couple years now, they aren't overly baggy and breath well even with lyrca shorts on underneath. Ill wear them when on my road bike in the city as well.
here are the newer models:

Well, I am liking my sombrio shants (short pants / long shorts), they are comfortable and must be breathable and everything as I never even think about them during a ride. Even tried a Cross-Country race with them on and they were fine. Haven't had them that long though so I'll have to see how they are over the summer.

I use a pair of mace ignition shorts, a couple years old but they still have similar ones out. I really like them. The only downside to them is that they sometimes sound like a flat tire when you are pedaling if they are rubbing. Just makes me look and check every once in a while

I have used several different kinds......I too do not like the 2-in-1 shorts. The MEC samurai's are great....very durable and light but my new favourites are the MEC Huck shorts. They fit great (no plumbers crack), are a bit stretchy, super lightweight, breath great and don't strangle my legs when I hammering uphill. They address all of the things that I did not like about my Core Rat shorts. These are now relegated to Whistler days because the reinforced butt can take a wicked nasty zap from the rear tire and not leave you feeling vaguely ashamed and dirty.....

I used to ride with Valhalla Pure shorts but for the last couple of years I've been on the Roach IndyCargo shorts. They are light, breathable and have held up well. It's one of the thinnest shorts I've seen but still seems durable.
