have a Maxxis minion 2.35 on the rear and a IRC Trailbear 2.5 in the front. minion is great, Trailbear has to go, the side walls are too thin for any of the riding I do. I don't want supper light, but I want it to roll fast.

suggestion?

oh and I have a heavier wheel set, so please don't go tossing DH tires at me, not only is getting hit by tires slightly painful, I'm looking for something I can peddle 100 miles into the backcountry and still drop the odd three footer into the rocks. and no supper soft rubber, these will see thousands of miles of pavement.

Oh, your thread title said lighter 3.5 inch tire. You should change that, and sorry I can't help you.

2.5 Kevlar Bead Kujo. Amazing fast and pretty light. Still has pinch resistance much better than other tires.

I have a rear high roller 2.5 on the heavier wheel set., it's a great tire, but the paddles are spaced too far apart to last on pavemant. I've tried the Kujo before, not the kevlar bead, and it was way too heavy for what I want. sounds like I'm just being too picky, I might just go with a minion front 2.35 and be done with it.

your thread got me thinking I wouldn't mind lightening up my tiers, rear one could do with a change
did you see the nsmb syncros review (http://www.nsmb.com/gear/syncros_titec_1104.php)...more specs at their website (http://www.syncros.com/05_tire_matrix.htm).

With the decent review, design characteristics and 884g weight I think it's a good replacement for my high roller - which comes in at 1350 I think, althought flat resistance has been incredible. I'm trying to get my stiffee down to a hardtail weight :), but I don't want to go slimmer than 2.5

I am running folding bead Nevegals front and rear in the 2.5" size with absolutely no problems. Typical kootenay riding which can be rocky and fast, running around 27-28psi front and rear with no flats so far after a month of riding heavily.
Only drawback is the sticky rubber, but I don't find it actually wears that quickly, but then and again, I'm not riding thousands of road miles on these tires. They might be available in a regular compound.
other tires to look at in a folding bead would be the bontrager big earl, those syncros tires or...

My vote is for the Big Earl folding bead 2.5"

Brilliant, last long (dual compound) and CHEAP!!

Agreed. 750ish grams, cheap, light, and hooks up
