Hey gang,
Without getting too kinky, what are you wearing under your riding shorts?
I've just bought some riding shorts (MEC Hucks) and am debating what to wear underneath them:
a) spandex cycling shorts with a chamios liner to prevent chaffing
b) plain ol' cotton boxers
c) nothing
Thoughts? Pictures? Crude remarks? Bring it on! My nether regions thank you.

i wear a chamois under whatever shorts i happen to be wearing on that particular ride. Usualy just some cheap, lightweight shorts from a discount place.
Got my chamois from www.nashbar.com
It was chep, and its pretty comfy.

I wear normal boxers and some jean shorts. I ride mostly lifts though, so I don't sit down too much on the way back down.
It works OK.

i wear my boxxers usually..last wknd I tried my bike shorts w chamois under my regular shorts that seemed okay. for special occasions I have a purple thong.
Boxer briefs. I find regular boxers very uncomfortable for riding. I have a pair of these MEC liner shorts that I wear sometimes. I find the best thing about them is when your ass gets wet it is not cold.

try these ,cheaper/cooler than full lycra inside of loose riding shorts
Try some compression shorts for running. They don't have a chamois, so they're more supportive, flexible and chafe less. Cheaper, too. Poly boxer briefs from a outdoor store such as MEC or REI also work well for shorter rides such as Shore runs or bike park. Chamois have never been remotely comfortable for me, even the $$$ Pearl Izumi ones. Whatever you use, make sure there's no seam where your "sit-bones" meet the saddle.

These are awesome. A little padding where it counts, leg elastics to keep the boys in place and no extra length keeps you cooler.

And who sez you can't get underwear advice from strangers on the internet?!
So far, I'm leaning towards a chamois purple thong. Does MEC still carry those?

When it's really hot I'll do the Old Buck with a chamois I unstitched from some road shorts and suspenders.

I guess it depends on the amount of uphill pedalling your gonna be doing. I have those same mec shorts and they are light enough to wear whatever you want under them.
I tend to wear ginch but have also worn old spandex road shorts with the chamois removed for an extra sexy yet "together" feel.
Oldfart makes a compelling argument for comfort on those steamy days.

Tights with a chamois work well. Keeps you crotch/butt from chaffing and getting sore, and provide a little extra protection for your hips/thighs if you slide out.

How do people ride or even do sports with boxxers?!!?!? There's no support! It's like a girl wearing no bra and going for a run. Uncomfortable no doubt but somewhat arousing for others.
I abandoned spandex/chamois shorts years ago as they are generally uncomfortable and keep things wet down there (in a bad way).
Even on 4-5hr XC rides I use Roach shorts with a synthetic/poly brief underneath. Keeps you dry, supported and breathes. If you're getting numbness or chaffing it's usually due to improper saddle height and/or adjustment. Compensating with more 'padding' is not the best answer.
