I'm going up on a budget trip in three weeks, and I'm looking for relatively (like, not the Keg or something) inexpensive places to grab dinner after a full day of riding. Doesn't need to be fancy, couple of pieces of decent pizza or a hummus plate is fine. Just trying to avoid wasting money.

im in the same boat, I was thinking of even bringing a cooler and grabbing some meat and buns:lol:
if you want cheap, go to zogs.
if you want cheapish, and not zogs, id go to the GLC, they have pretty good food there.

Last year when we went for 9 days, I went to Costco and bought a bunch of stuff. Premade subs, mini pizza's, KD, sandwich meat and bread, frozen lasgna, gatorade etc. It made the trip so much cheaper. Most of the time it was only 1 meal a day we actually ate out for. Sometimes not even that. We stayed in the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort where we had pretty much a full kitchen.
But we found for cheap foods, stay with the pubs. Pub fare is pretty cheap most times and dine on the specials.

the patio grill at bike/bean is awesome for lunch. they have a wicked garden burger :)
for other eats, you can pile up noodles and such at the mongolie grill..if you dont take any fish/meats, you get 20% off your meal...great way to get tons of carbs at a good price. their massive rootbeer is a great addition.
dusty's has a great meal for the price. i found the wraps there with a pint came to be el cheapo.
pub fare is the way to go too...

The BrewHouse willhave 50% off their pub food menu, so check that out.
For the next little bit, the Mongolie Grill is 50% off too. It can be cheaper than buying groceries.
If you want groceries, do what was mentioned above and go to costco. Or if you can't do that, buy your groceries in the city or in Squamish.
If you MUST buy groceries in Whistler, avoid the IGA and go down the highway to Nesters. The produce at Nesters is sub-par though, so the IGA can be good for that.

For 'dinner' type places that are good value, try Pasta Lumpino on main street, Tapley's, or Samurai Sushi at Nesters.
For semi-fast food, Splitz Grill has the best burgers in town.
Check the papers to see if any restaurants have any specials on, which are quite common during the early summer. Mongolie has been mentioned, Joey Chan's (Chinese) was having some half price days recently (not sure if they're still happening) plus they have an all-you-can-eat buffet night each week as well.
Pubs (Blacks, Hozs, Cittas) can be pretty good value, depending on what you order.
Buying groceries in Squamish (or bringing them with you) is better value than buying here - even if you only bring some things instead of buying everything. I find when on a biking trip that I eat a lot more food than regularly plus I try to eat healthy & smart, so therefore eating 'grocery food' instead of 'restaurant food' makes even more sense. As for alcohol, it might be cheaper to bring some with you? Not really sure there.

we stayed in Whistler for 2 weeks last year...and thanks to our stupid travel agent screwing up the booking, we found we didn't have kitchen in our rooming...so it was eating out for all meals except breakfast (thankfully a small fridge in our room)
spent alot of nights wandering round looking for cheap eats...
found the Garbanzo bike and bean burger place at entrance to bike park lifts quite good prices for lunching, or the nice bakery near to Fanatyk bike shop for quick lunch
and there was a spaghetti place underneath our hotel...running bikers menus most nights huge plate of pasta, free bread and ice cream, the GLC place was a good deal most nights too
the small supermarket in the upper village square is expensive, we found the much larger supermarket in the bottom of the village about 3 days before we left, duh!

spaghetti factory. we ate there once...We got the waitress to give Rosscofatty a bib, which was very much needed considering how drunk he was getting

for breaky and lunch, Wildwood is best value for money. sandwich combos cheaper than Subway and made with real ingredients. Killer dinner specials now too. like 12 bucks for a steak dinner! GLC is 50% off the whole menu right now, mid-week only.
Samurai Sushi
another vote for Samurai. You can get a large sushi platter for $20.00. It will feed 2 and maybe 3 on a budget. Good quality too.

Merlins are doing 10$ pitchers and 5$ burgers
a season pass will get you 20% off in the GLC
50% off in the brew house.
teppanvillage is doing a set meal for $25 (damn cheap for what you get)
most specials will end this month though as it starts to get busier

In my experience the prices there were way too high. I don't expect them to get any lower if they're moving somewhere bigger and most likely more expensive.

I think you can grab a dish at The Spagetti Factory for about $11. But McDonalds is good too, or just make your own sandwich at the Grocery Store.
For semi-fast food, Splitz Grill has the best burgers in town.
I second that, best burger in town!

Whistler grocery store by the liquor store. Rotisserie chicken breast, bakery bun, fruit and yoghurt etc...around $4 bucks. Condiments can be pilfered from Bikenbean -AND- Moguls breakfast wrap, $5.50 plus tax (pretty sure), you'll stay full for a long while. By the by, Splitz will be opening a location in Van soon, location to be determined.
