I think a few of you must have had some time on those pedals now.
What do you think of them? Yay of nay? I need some really strong ones.

A big NAY. I have the sealed ones (XX) and the bearings on the right pedals are leaking grease and the pedal is seizing up already. This is after 1 month! As far as looks 10/10 ... in terms of durability and grip 2/10. These pedals are also very thick, and I personally would go for a thinner profile pedal or a beast of a pedal like the Syncros mental (if you don't mind an extra 200 grams on your ride)
I might have got a lemon pair, but I am definitely not too impressed. If you do end up buying a pair, drop a set of syncros mental pins in them (they fit perfectly .. you can order them from you LBS seperately or just contact the manufacturer). The stock pins that come on the 5050 are pure garbage and I would not even use them for XC riding.
So if your looking for bling, buy them. If you looking for function and durability, look somewhere else.

i love my 50/50's the stock grip is amazing in the dry ( i like to beable to move my feet around) but its terrible in the wet. no grip when evena little wet sooo just put more pins in or dont ride in the wet.

yeah, my feet slip around on them in the wet but if I weren't such a lazy mechanic I'd already have the longer pins in. No problems with the bearings after about 30 rides
The day that I really look forward to is when I bash the shit outta the leading lower edge and have to put the replacement piece in. Cuz ordinarily that would be the day that most other pedals would find their new home in the garbage

Well thanks a bunch for the feedback.
Grip is the most important think for me. my Axiom Road Gap are amazing, although I've lost quite a few pins. I am looking for something as grippy, strong and low profile. I guess the 5050 aren't for me after all...

have less grip than the 5050's.
hauling ass through a steep rocky section on bmx pedals(or any other pedal that allows you to move your feet around) can be one of the scariest things ever. bmx'ers need to move their feet around for turndowns and tables...mountain bikers go in a straight line, really fast down the mountain so long pins are favoured.

Thanks for letting me know what poo feels like.
OK, wise guy.
The left pedal is worse than the right. After a few days without riding the pedal will sieze. Once the pedal is turning again, the bearing is rough and notchy.
I have the taller pins installed, and combined with my five.ten shoes the grip level is excellent, even in the wet.
I still wouldn't buy them again.

pins for axiom road gaps can be found at canadian tire for a few cents a piece. I have had my pair of road gaps for nearly two years (200 + days of riding) and they are great. Every month or two I may have to replace a pin but that is about it...

axiom roadgaps kill.....
my only complaint if you don't pay attention and ride a low bb height bike you will bash pins out. They are cheap and easy to replace unless you hit real hard, then they tend to tear right thru the aluminum. Even then, you can re-tap the hole and use a larger pin.

The Funn sol jam pedals are a good alternative too... super grippy, and the sealed bearings are awesome
just go shimano dx, best flat pedal ever made.

i find that on mine grip was shit... i did what the pros do and used easton pins (m4 grub screws) and locktighted them in... and now they are sweet as... no complaints...
bearings have been a1 perfecto for me (mine could be different to others i got some pre production ones

my cullys have still got to be the best performing pedal ive used though in terms of lack of maintenence and grip...
