Alright, So ive been debating this for a long time now, whether I should come out to Whistler, and why.

I do quite a lot of trail building over here in the UK, and just completing a new DH course in my area, and also noticed people were saying that there is less trail builders in whistler this year?

Ive looked on WB website and couldnt find any vacancies for trail builders?

Also is this a paid job? or volunteer job?

Any more info would be appreciated, on any aspect of this job, or other jobs in the area and places to stay. I may have left it a bit late in the year now, but My career choice (army) keep pissing me around with my medical.

Also I'm 19, been to Whistler and ridden the bike park before.

Cheers!

Jam.

first off, welcome to NSMB!

I'm not sure if its "too late" to apply for a job at Whistler, but its always worth a shot. Your best bet is to either email or call the employment offices at Whistler and speak to someone there, explaining your position. I'm sure they have a slot for you somewhere.

Good luck!

Alright, Cheers for that fella. Ill give them 2 days for a email reply, then make the phone call, see what they got to offer. Ideally I wanna bring something new onto trails round there and take some of the stuff Ive learnt over here, over there, and hopefully bring something back like northshore, which aint a lot of over here!

Anymore replies would be ace,

Cheers!

jammac , ( and any others ) . . . . i've said this before , but i'll say it once more :

this town is full of opportunities , and i don't just mean in the bike park . but to take advantage of them , you gotta be HERE .

to do dirt bag / skid type work , you gotta show people that you are willing and able to do dirt bag / skid type work , and that's tough to do over the internet or by telephone .

that's how cervo got started : bit the bullet , took a chance , and came over here .

cervo , hope the visa thing works out for you . . . .

Sounds good, I was looking at jobs in the bike park because of being closer to the sport, also the benefits such as staff housing with WB jobs* Although I'm not entirely sure what makes you eligeble for staff housing.

Just thats the current lack of money is a problem, So having a job before I go is whats needed, ideally, But Im coming over for 16 days on 7th July, so I can have a look then.

And Cervo? you cant work until september  ?

you don't need to work for the mountain to get staff housing, it's just 1$ more per day.
And yes i won't be able to work on the trails this year and get payed for it before september (if am lucky...) so that's why i stopped building stuff because working on CW design for free was already enough...

How does working in the bike park get you "closer" to the sport of mountainbiking, this town is full of us....I think your closest when on the bike eh?

How come its taking so long for you to get a work visa? is there a backlog or something?

Sweet to find out about the staff housing tho, did touch on a lot of local stuff there last year with the people we stayed with.

Yea true lol, over here its rare you'll see someone on a bike, i suppose biking is as popular in your country, as football is here.
