Holy Crap .... been watching the web cams and I don't every remember lineups this large at Whistler on Saturdays and Sundays. Is it just me or do they seem a lot larger?? I have rode in years past, and it did not seem this bad, but I have yet to come up on a weekend this year.

Anybody who has been in this lineup, how long is the wait???

Is this typical for this time of year, or is it just a matter of finally getting some good weather???

It'll always be long on a weekend with good weather, weekdays or rainy days would be alot quieter...

Its cause the gondy is shut down til end of June, yearly repairs and such, plus its the weekend, also they shut down Fitz between 12 and 1 to assess the lightening issues, big nasty dark cloud rolled through accross the valley and threatened the lift....do you all have 9-5 day jobs down in the city? Remember the mid week is dead.....

They are pretty long, but the line up for the tram is always pretty small.

I was thinking of heading up yesterday for extended play and was FLOORED at how big the lineup still was at 6:30 PM !! I have never seen it so busy.

90% of my riding is mid-week (yeah I have a 9-5'er) so I save my holidays, keep and eye on the weather, and decide last minute.

Will be keeping an eye on things over the next few weeks and decide whether to go up on a weekend or not. I like busy, but not crowds.

I just got home from their and can tell you the line ups sucked big! And on top of that they had to shut down the mountain for around an hour in a half `cause of lightning. One storm moved by and an hour or so later another one moved in. Started raining like i`ve never seen as i was leaving the lot....i`m talking the world is ending type rain, i`m talking the animals were lining up two by two type rain!!

Any of you guys get stuck on the lift during that shit?

Raced the rain down after seeing it come over Blackcomb at about 3pm, got caught right at the bottom of HoD, then the sky opened up, then it stopped and a few of us got to shuttle and do sweeps, Upper and Lower Angry Pirate have lots of puddles, 3 runs all day....thank god for mondays.....

when that second thundercloud came in a huge branch fell about 8 feet from me. needless to say i got the hell out of there pretty quick. turned out to be my favourite run of the day, covered in mud

and yes the lineups were brutal.

I was on Dirt Merch when it started pissing. Gong show.

Lines were probably the worst I've seen since crankworx. I would've much rather stayed local today.

Yeah, Whistler is looking more and more like a bust for those of us who work.

geez stop whining about lineups. yes it was bad today, but dont forget the gondy was closed, and garb isn't open yet. unfortunately i'm going to be a weekend warrior but it's not the end of the world - it is whistler after all! i had a hell of a good time today despite the weather probs (i just got caught in the lift line). got 6 runs in :P

I had an awesome time today... didn't get tons of runs in, but since it was my first time there in pretty much two years, it was about all I could handle... Frickin' good to be back, let me tell you.

As far as wait times... it was just enough time to allow my brakes to cool down and therefore work for the first half of the next run... by the time I get to the bottom... no rear brake.

I kept telling him brakes, and (breaks, hahaha) are for sissies.. I hate lineups, how am I suppose to get 15 runs in when it's like that. Who likes Tuesdays??

Not all people who work have weekends off, fix it so you have midweek off, who runs the city if everyone is off on the weekends?.....

I'll get right on that. Oh wait... reality just slapped me in the side of the head with a 2x4 and said, "yeah, THAT'S going to happen."

We only got six runs in too. The lineups were long, but it didn't bother me all that much.

After the first lift closure, I talked to guest services, and they were going to reimburse my Triple Play card a day. We were going to hit Cut Your Bars when we decided to see if the lift was open. It was, so up we went. Three runs later, closed again, and now I don't get the day back. Oh well. The six runs we did were sweet.

Hit the giant step up on DM(down from the Rutabegga(sp) rock)for the first time. Scared the crap out of me. I loved it! Heart of Darkness was always a wicked trail. It's amazing now. Did Devils Club for the first time. It's pretty cool.

The trails were in great shape yesterday. It's a shame it was a short day.

good news if you're lookin' for less line-ups.. don't forget extended play (http://www.whistlerbike.com/information/hours/index.htm) is gonna be every day of the week, starting June 17 until September. that should be pretty huge for anyone who can make it for mid-week evenings.

I’m gonna tell you what I really think I like about Monday
Cause they fell like Saturdays
When you don’t have to go to work, every day is a holiday
I wake up when I want to, I do anything I wanna do
Can’t wait for Tuesday
I really don’t like Fridays
I can’t do what I wanna do
Sold out at the movies, can’t eat at the restaurant
Everybody wants to party, but the bar’s full of cigarette smoke
I think I’ll stay home, I think I’ll wait for Monday

I live a five day weekend, I gotta year long holiday
Thanks god it’s Monday
The only place I gotta be is the show or on the first tee
Thank god it’s Monday
Never mind aggravation, just give me modulation
gimmie another key

I’ll tell you why I like Tuesdays, cause they’re kinda like Christmas
Come to think about Wednesdays, are a little like Hanakah
Thursdays thanksgiving, I’m talking about good living I think I’ll give thanx Thank god it’s Monday

One of my favorite songs by them, its what I think about when I ride the lift on the weekends at Whistler Blackcomb, summer and winter.....but it doesn't really bother me that much, ya'll are good city folk.....

True enough, just work at the biggest hotel in BC, been with the company since 97, just pay rent cheaply, live small, no car, 15 min WALK to work, don't pay for cable or heat or electricty, no gas or insurance for a bike, small town living, I been working in the evenings since highschool (ain't much of a morning guy), doing my best to get here, Whistler, I don't party much, work and ski lots lots in the winter, spend most of the coin on the bike and racing, simple but I like it.
BUT....I somewhat envy those with big houses, kids, dogs and all that, but life is long and there is always time for that......
I'm just poking fun anyways....we all ride bikes and seeing all the people on the weekends is fine by me, this place is fun......

The BikerX opens this weekend according to the Webpage.

More poeple will spend more time on the mountain... equalling less line-ups. By the time I get back everything will be open and then the line ups will be none existant.

Although I think that they are going to become the stayus quo in Whistler now. As the more and more poeple come here, the lucky ones I might add... the line ups are going to get longer.

For now I can only deal with Blue Mountain (cough cough Hill) until I get back from my temp. relocation.

Hey you are right .... live your life while you can! Unfortunately I am too old to take the same route, but if I were younger, I would be doing exactly what your doing! You have your whole life to get old .... :-)
